Paulette wanted Roger Miller to cameo in this video. She got her wish. Justin Tubb was too ill. As Roger was one of the writing duo, he gladly accepted. Paulette and Highway 101 should have been as big as Brooks and Dunn. They were that good.
Justin Tubb passed away in January 1998, this video came out in January 1990. Roger Miller passed away in October 1992, a couple of months after he was diagnosed with throat cancer (he was a lifelong smoker).
(1990) Love this video, Got it on my old VHS tapes, 2 years before we lost the late great Roger Miller in (1992), Him and Justin Tubb wrote this tune. R.I.P. Roger, We love and miss you dearly, There'll NEVER be an another one quite like you, You were one of a kind, One that only comes around once in a lifetime !!!
This was a great band...And to Paulette Carlson..Where ever you are,,,I hope you're having a great Christmas season....and are living and doing well...There was never any replacing you,,,you were simply the best!!!!...lol...I truely miss your singing!!!God Bless....
The Stevie Nicks of Country! I met Cactus when Johnny Rivers returned to his adopted hometown of Baton Rouge. Cactus played drums. After Johnny left the stage, I surprised Cactus by recognizing him, asked if I could have one of Johnny's guitar picks. Ole Cactus retrieved the very one Johnny had been using, from that classic electric guitar he's played for decades. Oh and that concert was free.😊
This group was really, REALLY good! Paved the way for all those great females country singers in the early '90s. Paulette Carlson is my favorite singer of all time, and that's saying something.
Very cool to see Roger Miller there at the end. It had to be one of the last things he was involved with before he died in 92. Great song, great group. Broke up way too soon just as they were establishing themselves as the best young group in country. CBZ
Just great stuff. Her voice is a force of nature. Really tight harmonies. I had no idea Roger Miller was even involved in this song. And on top of that it’s obvious they had a real fun time putting the video together. Can’t imagine why people would carp about the quality of the video. The glass is way more than half full.
Love walkin', talking, cryin', barely beating broken heart song by highway 101. Just admire their performance as they played. What happened to good old country music?
Bob, thanks for posting this video. I loved this version of the song. I had no idea Roger and Justin had written it. I was trying to clean out the garage just now and found a 'Pre-release' version of it that Charley Aldridge had sent me in May, 2004. I met Charlie by happenstance in a Mexican restaurant in Albuquerque. He was alone, heading to Oklahoma, where I live, to make a movie in Ponca City called 'Red, Hot and Black' with Jack Elam and some others in it. We talked a lot and he seemed like a nice guy. I never saw him again after that, but we corresponded some and then he sent me his version of this great song 11 1/2 years ago. I swear I don't remember hearing his version of it before tonight! Way back in the 60's, I met Roger when he was performing at Spring Lake in Oklahoma City. We talked a while, got some pictures made with him and he asked if I lived in Oklahoma City and I told him no, I live in Ponca City. When I was leaving, he said 'Tell the Statute of the Pioneer Woman I said hello'. The next day, I went down to the statue, made sure no one was around and told that lady that Roger Miller asked me to tell her he said hello. She didn't say a word; can you believe it, lol.
If you look fast and close you see there is alittle Peak A Boo in the begining with Rodger Miller LMAO ! Love it wish it was more clear picture But Thanks
One damn great band, even when Nikki Nelson took a turn at the front mic! Glad to see Mr Roger Miller given a part in this video---he and ole ET (Ernest Tubb) are credited as co-writers!!

Both Roger and Justin said that they wrote it together at Tootsie's in Nashville around 1963

Roger Miller co-wrote this song with Justin Tubb (the son of country legend Ernest Tubb aka the Texas Troubadour).
I was in Colorado when I fell in love with her voice and their music. Still love em.
saw her in concert in 89 .. turned me into a complete country music fan. hated country before..
Roger miller was undergoing chemo therapy for throat cancer during the shooting of this video. A trooper! A musical Mark Twain me thinks :)

"Walkin', Talkin', Cryin', Barely Beatin' Broken Heart" !!!
Love it!
The waning days of country music. So sad...
Paulette was superb in every way....
The Best!
If anyone wanted to research the roots of "pop country", here is a good starting point.
Justin Tubb (Ernest Tubbs son)&Roger Miller wrote this.
Was that "Dang Me" that Roger did that vocal riff from @ the end?
+Michael Werbovetz (81GMC2500) Yes it is...he wrote this song.
That's right. He & Justin Tubb-Ernest's son.
+Michael Werbovetz yes sir, you are correct!
If I wanted to invent the perfect female hillbilly voice for country I would have to forget it. It’s already done and my hats off to the universe
The lady is from Fargo just a cross from Winnipeg my favourite city
Is that Roger Miller in this video? Great old school music right here.
yes
Where was this recorded? Are they in Oregon anytime this year?
The group no longer exist
The lol in this case means "lots of love" of course!!!
