Hi Drew! I enjoyed seeing the cards you chose to grade and the results. Boy, that Bob Trice is a pretty looking card. The colors go together so nicely. The same with the 75 Gibson. Like most, I am a fan of the 59 Topps Robinson.
The funny thing is I have collected these cards for so long that while not all may be aesthetically beautiful they have meaning to me at some level. Be it memories, nostalgia, history and/or beauty. Someone may look at the 68 Jim Hunter and think it is a boring hatless photo but I see it as the year he threw probably the best game of the regular season retiring 27 consecutive Twins for only the 9th perfect game in MLB history up to that time. That card is special because of that.
Thanks for sharing.
I don't think I have mentioned it, but some cards I get graded because I want to preserve history. Even the McDermott card I felt was centered so nice that with the stains, it was worth protecting. Kind of odd way to think to most people I am sure.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder they say. No doubt about it. Beauty came come from a memory as you pointed out.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and watch.
You did pretty well, Drew. The Bob Gibson and Clemente were nice surprises. Sweet looking Bob Trice and both of the 1952’s looked better than the grade. The Rickey rookie is a head scratcher 🤔 Overall a nice return though, thanks for sharing
I was pretty happy overall with it outside of the Rickey. Thanks for watching Hugo.
Good cards, Drew! Regarding the “altered” card, have you ever had any luck resending those back to PSA and see if they grade it the next time? Frustrating for a pack pulled card. I see you’re a PSA man. I have never sent anything in for grading, but I am considering, sending some vintage into SGC and I thought I might even experiment with TAG.
I have not had any luck with altered cards on a 2nd try, but I understand there are people who have. However, I have had SGC grade cards that PSA said were min sized. I wonder if that will change now that PSA bought SGC. I send to PSA for 2 reasons. The SGC slab is too big and bulky for my taste and secondly, I like competing on the PSA Registry. Thank you for taking the time to swing in and watch.
All subjective for grading from a dealer to a professional grader. Bought form Morris in the past & a little slow in delivering as opposed to a lot of others.
They do tend to be a little slow. I thought maybe it had something to do with coming out of LA and a busy post office?
@@CleanCheapShots Who knows, California for you. Lol..
PSA totally forgave that miscut on the reverse of the '73 Clemente.
You are probably right. I know they aren't as hard on the backs as they are on the fronts. Thanks
Nice cards Drew, congrats and thanks for sharing. I think the centering threw you off on guessing grades sometimes.
I think you are right Orlando. I need to watch the centering better. Thank you for the tip.
Awesome PSA reveal and gorgeous card garden!!! I love your stands as well!!! I like that Sheldon Jones...always nice to have a taste of home in the ol collection!!! Congrats on the '55 additions, that's awesome you are going to attempt the whole set run!!! I hope that you have a truly blessed day today and as always...GBR!!!👊🏻❤️💯🙏🏻
Go Big Red! Thank you for taking the time to swing on in. I appreciate the kind words.
Rollie Fingers without a mustache is like James Harden without a beard. It's just not right.
lol That is so true. Thanks for popping and watching.
Solid return, Drew! Love those '70s HoFers. The Henderson rookie is a head scratcher. I wonder what the perceived altering is.
I wish the grading companies had more transparency so that we could understand what they were looking at. If you get your car worked on, they tell you what the issue is right? Thanks for stopping by.
Great returns from PSA! My favorite is the Clemente 💥 Love the baseball stands! Did you make those? If so, SUPER COOL! Thanks for sharing
Thank you sir. As always, I appreciate your time. I did make the stands in my garage. I was goofing around one day and made a batch of them. Thanks again.
Awesome return Drew! Love all of the Ryans! The Rickey is cool! Loce the 70 Catfish and the 73 Clemente! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Darren. Hope you have been doing well. Thank you for taking the time to swing by and watch. Have a great rest of your week.
Awesome cards and you did well with the grades! That 75 Gibson in an 8 is sweet! Was your 80 Henderson ever in a screw down? Could have flattened it out which would cause them to say it’s altered.
Great question Jim about my Rickey. No, it was not ever in a screw down. In fact, I never once placed cards in those even when I was younger. Maybe if I sent it to Mangini, I could get him to "un-alter" it. :o) Thanks for stopping in.
Great reveal video, Drew! Done legendary cards. Love the Clemente! The Gibson looks great too. Pleasant surprise, right?!
Thank you. Appreciate you stopping by. Yes, a few nice surprises.
Drew this was extremely fun and so crazy the grades all over the map and just affirms lets buy the card with our eyes not with the grade. Really fun to hear your guessed and your notes 👊🤙🤙
Thanks Dylan. I am trying to get better at guessing grades. Thanks for taking the time to stop by.
Great returns. Does PSA give you any details on what they called an altered card? What's the turn around time from PSA?
The grading companies don't provide any transparency which is unfortunate. Right now, the turnaround time is about 4 months. Thanks Brian.
Great cards, I think PSA treated you pretty well. I watch reveals from others that don't turn out well. My favorite of yours was the 1970 Jim Hunter HI#.
Hi there. Thanks for stopping in and watching. I appreciate your feedback.
congrats on the good graded returns from psa, bro. #ROADTO300
Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to swing in and watch.
Hello Drew, i enjoyed to watch your PSA subs returns. You showed us some great cards. I like its all ! The eye appeal about this 1952 Topps Maurice McDermott is way way much better than the grade 1 ! The Rickey Henderson card than PSA didn't want to grad, was a card you pulled in a cello pack ? right ?! Thanks Drew for sharing and " farmers keep growing your cards collections ".
Thank you sir. Yes, I pulled the Henderson when I was a kid. Thank you for stopping by. I am pretty happy overall with the grades.
Love that 59 Frank! Sammy Thunder just featured it a few days ago. Sweet Nolan’s Brett and Rollie’s. Those Rickey’s look like 10’s to me. Can’t believe they said the 80 Rickey was trimmed but at the same time I can. 👍😡🤷♂️ Send the Rickey’s to SGC?
I think that is Frank's best card (1959). I have sent "min sized" cards to SGC who then graded them. PSA just bought out SGC so it will be interesting to see if standards are changed. Thanks for watching.
Great submission Drew! Love that 70 Catfish and 73 Clemente! That 55 Bob Trice is a really sweet-looking card, what a beauty!
Congrats and thanks for sharing!
Thanks for stopping by Steve. Overall, I was happy with the submission. Love those 50's cards. Have a great weekend.
Wow! very nice collection , full watched , big like 6 👌👌🙏🙏💗
Thank you very much.
Great returns, I was mesmerized by this video. For better or worse I must say we have similar tastes. I loved those cards. If the same grader graded all your cards- they seemed very inconsistent. If graded by different graders it would make more sense. Graders note’s would be a fantastic concept. I only have a handful of ‘52 cards and Sheldon Jones is one of them/ good to know he’s from Nebraska. I like those stands really neat. Congratulations on that ‘75 Gibson getting an 8 is amazing. I wouldn’t think there’s too many more graded higher. Thanks for sharing and Good Collecting 👍❤️
Grading companies really should consider being more transparent. Any other service in which you are a customer, that person is provided with an explanation. Imagine going to the doctor or the mechanic. "You got stuff wrong. We will fix it, but we won't tell you what it was."
I was tinkering in my garage and made the stands. By no means a professional job. lol
Thank you for taking the time to swing on in.
Hey Drew! Congrats on the Gibson and Clemente. What a pleasant surprise.
How do you choose which cards you want to submit? Also do you belong to the PSA Collector’s Club? I’ve never submitted a card to be graded before.
Thanks for stopping in. I do have a subscription to PSA and I have my 1953 set on the PSA Registry. As to choosing: All cards from 1953, 1955, and 1956 are sent to PSA if I feel they are a 4 or better. Those are the registry years I am working on. As to other cards, it depends on the player and the year. If they are great shape, I send them in. May sound odd but I like to preserve history so great cards in great condition I send in.
Great video and fun reveal. I liked all the cards. They looked great slabbed. I always enjoy seeing Catfish, Reggie and Roberto. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for taking the time to come by and watch. Have a great rest of your week.
Great reveal Drew! The 1968 Catfish almost looks like a Milton Bradley. Some nice surprises, like the 1973 Clemente.
It was nice to get a few surprises. Thanks for watching Mr. Minnesota.
Drew great that you were able to slab some of your favorites. It can be disappointing for sure when the graders are all over the map. The fact that they classify the Rickey as altered when it came from packs you opened is another mistery. I love that 59 Robinson. It is one of my favorites for the same reasons you mentioned. I'll always have a sweet spot for anything from the 1970 set as those were the first cards I ever opened up.
Yes, bit of a mystery for sure. I wish the grading companies would provide more transparency. Provide their notes perhaps. I am trying to get better at guessing these grades but again...hard to do when you don't know what they are looking at. Thanks for your time.
I always don't know what to say about grade returns, but I do know I enjoyed watching the video and checking out the cards Like the catfish Hunter card and the Clemente. Thank for the video. Your grading scale is better than my lol. All cards are a 10 😢
Good approach you have. All cards are 10s despite the grade. I like that. Thank you for stopping by.
Great reruns. Congrats on the Gibson!! That Clemente is a beauty!! Dang, sorry about that Rickey. You pulled all those in packs!!!
Thanks for stopping in. Have a great week.
Really nice submission and presentation, Drew. Some real beauties. Thanks for showing us some solid new adds to your graded portion of your collection!
Thank you for taking the time to swing on in. Have a great weekend.
There were some good surprises for you on those and then some puzzling ones. Do you have a full Ricky graded run? Can you name a famous Husker from Tecumseh?
I am missing a few Rickey cards from the 90s. I have been watching those on eBay. I will likely purchase those already graded. The Huskers from Tecumseh that come to mind are "Tough" Tony Davis, Ed Shaw, Ben Lester, and Matt Davison. I played competitive softball against Matt back in the day. I think there was another guy in the 30s, but I can't think of the name. How did I do? Appreciate you stopping by this channel full of nonsense.
Gave a video like as always - Enjoyed the reveal! That is an awesome '75 Topps Gibson! Thanks for sharing, Drew
Thanks for watching!
Nice reveal, a lot of awesome cards! Thought that Brett was going to be higher graded, thanks for sharing and have a great day!
Thanks for watching! Have a great rest of your week.
Nice share Drew. Some great cards and great psa numbers! Missed this video somehow
All good Steve. Hard to keep up with everyone.
Awesome my friend yeah boy
Thank you.
great reveal drew. the 75 gibson looks great. they all do.
Thanks Ray. Appreciate you coming by and watching.
I wonder if there's a correlation: the longer you own a raw card, the harder it is to grade it accurately.
I don't know, but I wish the grading companies would provide us some transparency. I keep saying that, but anytime you purchase a service, you get an explanation.
Fun return! Nice 59 Frank, and really nice '52 McDermott!
Thanks Peeps! Appreciate your time.
Nice reveal Drew! Enjoy that Clemente in the 7! Pretty nice! 👍
Thank you sir.
I think Greg Morris was exactly right. Nr mt = 7
Perhaps so.
So many awesome slabs. Enjoy your Sunday!
Thank you. You too.
Great reveal! That gets you a little closer to the Nolan Ryan run.
Yes it does! Thanks for stopping in.
Great reveal. Those are some sharp looking cards.
Well thank you. I hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Have a great weekend.
Love that Bob Gibson and Nolan!! I enjoy seeing these vintage cards come back Drew! That is a sweet Frank Robinson RC!! Cool adds of the cards from the 50s.
Thank you sir. I appreciate your time.
@@CleanCheapShots Rickey Henderson and Nolan Ryan, nice!
@@jimnfl7134 Thank you very much. Those are my favorite two players.
@@CleanCheapShots Cards have are my favorite players: Kirby Puckett, Cal Ripken, Joe Montana, Jerry Rice etc.
@@jimnfl7134 Thank you.
nice reveal. fav cards are the 83 Rickey and that stunning 75 Gibson
Thank you. If I recall correctly, you were putting a 1956 Topps graded set together. Is that right?
Fun reveal. Great players. Those card stands are really nice. Did you make them? Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Thanks. Yes I made the stands. I was messing around in my garage one day and made a bunch. Have a great weekend.
@@CleanCheapShots very cool.
@@Dodgertown_76_Fungo Thank you.
Nice video, Drew! My favorite card was the Frank Robinson, obviously 😊. However, the color of the 75 Gibson pops in the psa holder. Great cards!
Hey thank you. Appreciate you stopping by. Have a great weekend.
Great cards, Drew! That Gibby is a blazer!
Thanks Billy. Appreciate you stopping by.
Great reveal. lot of awesome cards.
Thanks a bunch!
Great video. The cards are nice but those grades are all over. Got some very good grades on some. Some def look better than the grade. How come off centered hurts the grade? Isn’t that considered a manufacturer defect? Does PSA have grader notes available to view online so you can see what the defects were? I’m very curious as well what they mean by altered for that Henderson card. Great job. Thanks for sharing. Be well. -Dave 🤙 18:53
Off Centered (OC) is a big deal amongst collectors and to the grading companies. They are not considered to be a good example. I am not sure this is a good example, but imagine if a Spidey book you bought was wrapped in a way that part of the cover was on the back. Probably would not grade well. Grading companies will even give it a qualifier for being off-centered by putting on the label (OC). This brings down the value of the card by about 2 grades. PSA and other grading companies don't provide any transparency. We don't get to see their notes which is a complaint you will often hear. I hope I have answered your questions, but if not feel free to reach out. Thanks for the question and thank you for watching.
@@CleanCheapShots Thanks for the info 👍👍. They really should provide notes. One of the good things about CGC with the comics is you can look up a book and see the grader’s notes no extra charge. Damn that OC designation is rough I didn’t realize it was that bad. 🤙
@@justyouraveragegeeks CGC provides notes? Wow! Thanks for letting me know that.
@@CleanCheapShots For the comics you can put in the number on the slab and for newer ones they have notes. Older slabs they don’t because it’s something they just started fairly recently. I’m not sure if they do that with the cards or games etc though as I’ve never looked up any of those or got any of those graded. 🤙
Was the Henderson in a screwdown? That top looks like damage from a case being overly tight.
It was never in a screw down. Fact is, I have never owned a screw down. I appreciate the thought though as that would be a logical possibility.
The graders are not always right also.
True enough.
Awesome reveal! Overall how do you like grading with PSA?
Thanks Dan. I am kind of stuck. I don't like the size and bulkiness of the SGC slab and PSA certainly has their issues. However, in the end I want all my slabs the same and I like the PSA Registry. Thanks for taking the time to stop by.
@@CleanCheapShots I completely understand wanting your collection to look "dress right dress" with all being in the same slab.
@@OlSargeCollects Glad you understand. :o) Some don't. Each to his own of course.
Great cards
Thank you.
Very nice submission
Thank you very much. I appreciate it.
Oh, how off-center grading has changed... for the better.
Right on.
PSA is pretty all over the place in this return. It feels like it’s harder to predict than ever. Really great cards, it’s a shame the Reggie didn’t get grade, it sucks they didn’t say what was altered about it. Congrats on the Clemente!
I wish that the grading companies would provide more transparency. Thank you Theo for stopping by and watching. I hope you are doing well.
Those card stands are really cool!
Thank you. They were fun to make.
I like my cards like I like my women... Clean and Cheap...
