Clean Cheap Shots is a RUclips channel dedicated to the sports card hobby. In this channel, I hope to learn and share the history of sports cards and the stories of the people portrayed on them.
I will be showing some of the cards in my collection, providing hobby thoughts and information, and occasionally opening packs. Additionally, I might slip in an old comic book or two in my videos.
Lastly, I will be featuring stories of the men who grace the Topps 1953 baseball card set.
Thanks for joining me.

Love seeing you build this graded set. Very cool!
Nice slabs and info on the players. Cool Mantle magazine. Nice to see Mr Watt again.
Freaking loved this conversation ❤️🤙🤙
Your 55 Topps are in great shape. Those cards are so tough to find in nice condition.
Pittsburgh represented!
Always enjoy your videos Mr. Drew. Love learning things and seeing your beautiful 55’s. Thank you for sharing part of the interview again with Mr. Watt. Well done sir.
Enjoyed the pick ups. I have one of those 1955 cards can you guess which? Emotional moment there in the interview. Great stuff.
Gave a video like. Love the Lopat. All fun '55 Topps pick-ups. Enjoyed hearing a bit about the players. Always enjoy the interview clips.
Excellent interview clip at the end. Two great stories about Earl Weaver
I was very surprised by the answers.
Great video Drew. Super 55 pickups. I enjoyed learning about those players. Another fantastic time with Eddie Watt. So enjoyable to hear what Mr. Watt has to say. He has such great stories. Thanks for sharing.
Mr. Watt is a gold mind of great stories. Thanks for stopping by sir.
This was fun, Drew. Nice cards and cool to go through the SI. Any chance of you wearing what Mickey and Willie had on while eating corn in a future video?
I would be happy to wear what they were wearing. lol
@ RUclips needs to see that happen!
Oh gosh, he found two HOFers eating corn. It's like a Nebraska dream.
I had no idea that picture was in there until I opened it. lol Sometimes in life, things just line up.
My Thursday routine now is to grab a cup of coffee and tune into Clean Cheap Shots.
I am not sure what I think about this.
Great pick ups! Dwight was one of my favorites on the Mets. I'd give him a 2nd chance.
Thanks Brian. Appreciate the comment.
Hi Drew. Nice additions for the ‘55 set. That’s my favorite stat of Qualters. I was glad to hear to added that fun fact. Liked the magazine and the nod to Terry. Fun video and liked the Ryan jersey on your wall.
Thank you sir. I appreciate your support as always. Have a great week.
Great video Drew! Awesome cards 🔥🔥🔥🔥! I always enjoy seeing these vintage cards and hearing about them. Awesome Eddie Watt interview clip! Those are always fun to see and hear as well. Thanks for sharing. Be well. 🤙 18:07
Thank you sir. I appreciate the comment and your time.
Love the Mantle SI! It’s so touching to hear Eddie Watt talk about Earl Weaver!
Yes Jim. It was the best part of the interview. Thanks.
FUN Mantle showcase! The Eddie Watt stories are gems 💎 Thanks for sharing, Drew
Mr. Watt's stories are priceless. Thanks Diaz family.
Great stuff , Drew . Nicely executed Terry inspired magazine/ card combo spotlight
Thanks Adam. Terry has me looking at magazines so differently now.
Great stuff Drew! 🤛🏻
Thank you kindly.
Great pickups Drew, nice stuff. Like the Mantle SI, thanks for sharing
Thanks Orlando.
Great cards. The Mantle SI was the memorial issue that came out shortly after he died.
I suspected that it did but wasn't sure. Thank you for that information. Have a great upcoming weekend.
Good stuff! Love the 1955 cards. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Rick. I appreciate your time.
NIce Mickey Magazine/card combo, and the continued Watt interview was awesome, especially the Earl Weaver stories.
I didn't see that coming with the Weaver response. Thanks for stopping by.
Drew! Great pickups, my friend. Love the Joey Jay and Mantle SI. Also, that’s a great story Mr. Watt told about Earl Weaver. It was quite emotional. Thanks for sharing, Card Farmer 🌽
Mr. Watt told a great story. Very surprising. Thanks for stopping by sir.
Love the 55s my friend! Geez, that Mick is great. I couldn’t focus on the Doc Gooden with the ad of the big fella on the other page lol. Loved those Earl Weaver stories. I bet some collector has that check that wasn’t cashed somewhere . 😂
You may have noticed that I stayed away from making any L. Phillips comments. lol Especially after taking a shot at the Badgers. haha I had not thought of that with the check.
Awesome haul. Some western PA guys! You did say McKeesport correctly. About 15 miles from where I grew up.
Glad I got one pronunciation correctly. lol I realized as I was recording that I had a few PA guys in the mix. Thanks for popping in Mike.
Nice haul my friend 🎉🎉
Thank you.
Like #1! Love the 55' design, one of my favorite sets. Use to have many of the stars from that sat, but unfortunately had to sell them several years ago due to some unexpected issues. Wish I still had them and maybe someday I will get to that point where I start concentrating on re-purchasing some of them. I love seeing yours and the information that you share with us about each player. Also love your Eddie Watt series, he's still so sharp minded. Wow! He just brought a tear to my eye with his emotion on the last time he talked to Earl. Priceless! That Nolan piece on your wall is awesome! Loved the Ryan express and those rainbow jerseys. Loved watching this video, you do such a great job my friend. 👍👍until next time, have an awesome day Drew ✌
I really appreciate that Andy. Have a fantastic upcoming weekend. I am very appreciative of your time.
@@CleanCheapShots Thanks Drew! You as well and I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to reply back.
1:00. It was October 3 that Game 3 was played, not October 1. Of course, the Giants cheated by stealing signs, which is how they made up the 13.5 game deficit; Charlie Dressen ran his pitching staff into the ground, had Gil Hodges play out-of-position in the 9th inning of Game 3, brought in Ralph Branca instead of Carl Erskine, had Branca pitch to Thomson with first base open instead of walking him, and pitching to Willie Mays, since Thomson had homered off Branca two days earlier. So, to me, the real culprit for costing the Dodgers the 1951 National League pennant is Dressen, not Branca.
I think you are in the majority that blamed Dressen for that loss. I debated on whether to make the sign stealing as part of the story, but took it out in the end. In 1951 sign stealing was not something that MLB had declared illegal. It was actually pretty wide spread especially with Dressen (oddly enough). He was very good at it. After this event, MLB decided to implement some rules on the topic. You are right, the game was on October 3rd. At least I got it right on the thumbnail. :o)
Would never happen these days, as Newcombe would not have be pitching in the 9th
Very true. Game sure has changed.
Nice cards! New support ❤
Thank you very kindly. I will check out your channel tomorrow. Thanks.
Great cards, Drew! Good luck with completing those runs. I like the design on that last Munson card.
Thanks Cody. That 2nd year Munson is a favorite of many.
The plaque is wrong. NY Giants first year was in 1883 in the NL. There was no World Series in 1904, another error. Not World Champs, NL Champs.
Has anyone contacted the City of New York to let them know they have their plaque wrong?
@@CleanCheapShotsNot sure ( most folks don’t care because it’s really old history ) but it’s clearly such an erroneous plaque with dates that any die hard baseball historian can clearly point it out.
@@shaunkeating78 To me, it doesn't matter how old the history is. It needs to be corrected. I am not from NY so visiting the site was a joy for me. I took for granted that the city had the information correct.
@@CleanCheapShots Agreed. The info needs to be corrected, including the plaque. It’s a no brainer. Whoever made this video needs to alert the city of New York too. I’m not a NY sports fan either but I’m very OCD to correct historical marker mistakes.
@@shaunkeating78 I am not a NY sports fan at all, but do like history. I reached out to the Polo Grounds maintenance and they were of no help. Have you had any luck today?
Great looking cards, Drew! Holy cow, Boyer in a 9! Bando was a good player for sure and had some great seasons. Your Pinson and Yas look amazing, too. That Munson is also really sharp! Congrats!
Thanks Billy. I got pretty lucky with some of these cards. Appreciate you stopping by.
Great job everyone, especially Drew for putting it together! It was a fun watch and I enjoyed learning more about these wonderful channels. The trivia was great as well! Take care, Card Farmer 🌽
Thank you Rob. I thought I would try something different. We had a good time getting to know each other better.
Nice pile of heaters bud 👍
Thank you kindly!
beautiful symmetry-we tell stories about cards while are cards tell stories about us.
Well said.
Gave a video like. The Boyer and Munson cards are stunners. All great additions! Thanks for sharing the reveal, Drew.
I got pretty lucky with a couple of these cards. Thanks.
Nice video. cool channels. Enjoy your weekend!
Thank you.
Great Video Drew. Super people to have. I enjoyed hearing their stories about how they started in the community. Super Trivia Questions. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you sir. We had a good time getting to know each other's origins a bit more.
Hey Drew. Sorry I’m late with the comment. Took me a while to grind through a 71 minute video. Nice job hosting and a nice conversation. Have a great weekend.
I targeted 45 mins max and we went way over. I cringed posting a long video like this and I don't expect people to watch it all. Thanks for watching.
What a great live stream. I enjoyed learning more about each of your stories, and sharing your knowledge of the history of the sport. Well done! I appreciate Gordon's words at the end, Fortunately not many trolls here, it would be great if everyone, was mindful of their words, myself too.
Thank you very much for taking the time to swing in. We had a great time getting to know each other better and understanding why it was important to tell these stories for each of us.
Great discussion guys! Really enjoyed it! You should get together again.
Thank you very kindly. I appreciate that. I decided to try something different. These are great guys with great channels. It was a fun time. We may do more of this in the future.

Drew, cannot thank you enough for your invitation. I had a great time talking baseball and history with you and the guys. We have so much to share with each other and the fantastic card community. Looking forward to the next episode.
