@@SweetDreamsBakeShoppe absolutely. I know how you feel. My son was really sick when he was 3 years old he had diarrhea stomach pain not eating and him temp. Dropped really low that he had hyperthermia with a lot more symptoms . Doctor didn’t know what it was. I appreciate the honest review! Thanks! I am definitely going with your suggestion of getting the “rare” colors from Color Mill. Always enjoy your vids!
Americolor has oil based colors. They are the standard rainbow colors, however color mill has 2 to 3 times the variety that Americolor has. But Americolor is 2oz vs the 20ml for color mill. I have wanted to try color mill but they just seemed so expensive for the amount. When I discovered Americolor had an option I went with those. They also sell a flocoat version so you could use regular gel colors with the flocoat. Unfortunately the flocoat is only on 2oz and when I was doing a red velvet version with an emulsion and I needed a lot and used good portion of my flocoat up. Thank you for the review. And your wonder tips and tricks you post all the time.
Ooo I should look into their oil based colours. It’s one of those things that I don’t need often, but go through phases where I need it a lot! Yes the price for colour mill really surprised me, but I thought this would get me super high saturation. Thanks for sharing your knowledge as well!! 🥰

I don’t know if it’s just me! But when I use color mill I find that it leaves a weird after taste in my chocolate that I really don’t like🤷🏻♀️ Edit: specifically the white one
Thank you for demonstrating how you have used colour mill. I have been on the fence about buying these products mostly because of the price..l live in Missouri and it’s $7-12 a bottle which way pricey. I would spend that kind of money if l could achieve the exact color as on the bottle. So with that being said, your honest view has given me my answer. Thank u, l look forward to more of your video’s.
Wow! I didn’t realize it was that pricy in other places too, but I guess since it’s a product from Australia it’s bound to have some added cost due to shipping.
This is really interesting. These are made in Australia where I'm from. There's are actually fairly well priced here and these are the best on the market that we can get here 🤷
I guess because they’re coming from so far they have to charge quite a bit due to shipping! Have you tried other brands and still prefer colour mill over them?
You have to use the cap to poke the hole on the container, it took me a while to figure it out. Thanks for the review and I'll keep your son in my prayers for a speedy recovery.
I haven’t found it hard to get a good colour in chocolate with colour mill at all. Were you using super white candy melts? Maybe that diluted the orange/made it pastel? It works really nicely in buttercream too!
I was! Definitely could’ve been the issue; what kind of chocolate do you like to use with the colour mill? Have you tried the red? I watched another video where it looked quite light. Wondering if maybe you had more saturated results 🥰
@@SweetDreamsBakeShoppe I usually start with white wafers, possibly Merkens (I get them in bulk and the brand is not always listed). It’s definitely the more yellow tone of white chocolate, not bright white melts. For red, I haven’t tried colour mill red directly into white, but I’ve used it to darken “red” candy melts that aren’t red enough. Black too. Black candy melts tend to actually be grey, so you just need a bit of black colour mill to darken them. I never colour bright white melts because I find them hard to come by and I want to save them for when I really need white! White is probably my most use colour mill colour lol, but I use it to make my BC whiter too.
Hi i'm looking for colours just colouring the chocolate mould, can be with cocoa butter, there's many options.I tried to be more natural, but hard to find. No airspray Can i have your advice please? Thank you
I luv colour mill hopefully will be posting my journey soon but making aesthetic inspired mini cookies n cuppys it’s been on point for me. The price 😅can get up there but they are a wonderful brand ❤😊
You’re 100% right. You need a lot of drops of colour mill sometimes more than 5 drops to achieve desired results. Rather unfortunate for the price point. Smh I’ll stick to my chef master which is perfect
The price is the reason I’ve stayed away, it seems so pricey! The cheapest I’ve found for colour mill was approx $7-8 from cake shops for the small bottle depending on the colour. I’d probably only buy it for their unique “exclusive” colours that other brands don’t have, otherwise for the regular colour wheel, not worth it to me
You used the wrong part of the lid to open the new bottle. You use the “pin” under the lid that flips up, to poke a hole in the seal. I have been doing this since colour mill came on the market and have never had a fail, opening the seal that way.
Colour mill is made for fat based things like buttercream and actual chocolate, not "fake" chocolate like candy melts, which is why you had to use soo much orange.
Ooo could be. I should give it another go with white chocolate. However, I will say there must be content in the candy melts that’s more compatible with oil based colorant than regular edible food gels since those seize up in candy melts.
Gracias por mostrar esta marca de colorante. Puedes hacer un video sobre colorantes vibrantes para merengue italiano. Ya que muchos colorantes por ser a base de aceite cortan el merengue italiano.
I don’t speak Spanish, but I hopefully caught the gist of what you’re asking. For Italian meringue buttercream, I just use regular gel food colouring and find I don’t have to waste the money on purchasing things that are oil based 🥰
@@SweetDreamsBakeShoppe im so sorry. My bad. I was talking about vibrant colors on italian meringue, not the meringue buttercream. I guess in phillipines is called boiled icing.
@@francinesandino2579 he visto que las personas calientan el buttercream de merengue italiano para que los colores salgan mas vibrantes (después lo enfrías de nuevo y eso)
This Aussie isn't a fan of these. When they were first released I bought the big bottles at intro prices, quite a few colours. They are marketed as a product you need less of to achieve vibrant colour. I've tried them in various buttercreams, chocolate, ganaches etc and never been pleased with the result. You need a lot of product to get vibrant. I also don't like the staining on my white bench tops, silicon molds or peoples mouths. I threw them out, only keeping the white. I do want to try their "booster " which is supposed to spread gel colours better. For those that love these but cost is high, you can get a 29 set for around $200aud with free shipping worldwide from their website. Cyber hugs to Gorgeous Landon & you all 🤗
Ooo yes staining is never good. I luckily was really careful with it and didn’t use it in any of my moulds! My hands are always permanently dyed regardless 😂. I was wondering if the saturation was due to something I did, but thanks for sharing your experience as well!!
I'm south african. This brand is so expensive. I won't even bother. Great video though. There's no unique colour I can't get from mixing colours from other affordable brands.

You can! In fact I’ve heard pretty good results in buttercreams.

Where do you buy your candy melts and do you only use them for cake pops?
A lot of places sell them locally here. Our grocery store sells them too! I solely use them for cake pops or whenever I’m dipping things. 🥰💕
Can this be used on whipped cream?
It can!
I used it while mixing the liquid whipped cream it had to be a royal blue and it stayed a light blue and it never form it stayed watery
