Without the rules, you have no game. You just have a kick about. I had no idea this all originated in Sheffield. I am loving my adopted city even more. Thanks for this.
I visited the National Football Museum a few months ago and I had to give one of the tour guides a lesson on history. And I'm Scottish 😅 Just watched the first 2 episodes, great work. Looking forward to watching the rest over the coming days. I have always been under the impression that Sheffield FC were the oldest football "club" and never knew of the claim of a team in Cambridge.
@@SheffieldTheHomeofFootball Really enjoying it. I have just watched 3 & 4 today. I have something I'd like to share with you if you could provide me with an email address. Cheers, Brian.
It may also be worth noting that the founders of Sheffield FC were very staunch religious men, as were many at that era. Football was seen as a way of keeping young men fit and healthy, and by that righteous. Keep them away from the corrupt world of alcohol and formication. I wonder if there was any association with the temperance movement.
Yes, Sheffield FC's East Bank now the B&Q car park and Olive Grove was opposite, now the council depot came later. From there you can easily walk to at least 11 other historical football ground sites in just a few minuets.
Brilliant work, I'm so happy you made this series.
Glad you enjoy it!
Outstanding.

Extremely interesting presentation.
There definitely needs to be a plaque at Parkfield House.

I believed the ground on east bank was olive grove ground.
Was there 2 on east bank?
