Depends on how good you are with a bait caster 16th can be a little light but 16th+ plastic of some kind you should be OK

Great topwater/crankbait rod. It has a true slow taper. Real casting weight 4 to 7 g. Maybe 10 g max. Not a softbait/jigging rod.
