Kyle, looking for cranking rod but when I look up 13 fate black cranking I can’t find one. Is there something I’m missing? Sorry to bother you just wondered if they went to another name with new rods or something.
In my comment he said they were getting a face lift. The 13 site is missing a lot of their lines. Im guessing they are going to release several new ones.
What reel do you recommend for throwing lighter jerk baits and light crank baits like balsa baits? I have issues getting any distance out of these light baits without a backlash
I use a Shimano Slx mgl reel. It’s very affordable at 150 dollars and I can throw 1/4 oz jerkbaits and finesse jigs easily. It has a shallower spool which is key to throwing light baits, but I never even come close to spoiling out with 12lb line. You could also level up to the curado or aldebaren if you want a super high end combo, but the Slx is hard to beat, super smooth and casts like a dream!

What ever happened to the 13 Fishing Widow Maker that was supposed to come out? They just decide to squash it? Also, it looks like 13 Fishing is discontinuing their current hard baits. What's going on with that? I hope Rapala doesn't come in and ruin everything.

Just out of curiosity what rod power/action and length do you use for punching??? and when I say punching I'm meaning really heavy grass mats. I've tried a bunch of different powers actions and lengths and for the most part I'm using an 8 foot extra heavy extra fast right now but I'm always looking for the perfect punching rod especially after swinging that 8 footer all day.
Thanks, Kyle; I really enjoyed this - especially when you differentiated between when you use the A2 versus the C2. I have the Omen M (7-1 version) and love it. I'm also a fan of my Omen version of the MH mod-fast as a bladed jig rod. I have a C2 on that rod; it's a very light combination that I really enjoy fishing. I also throw the A2 on a Muse (old version); it was good to see that your preferences are pretty close to mine. I don't do much cranking here in Florida, but that Fate sounds amazing - especially for the price (about 90-ish dollars retail as I recall). I do have a ML Fate spinner that I like a lot; good pond rod when there's not much vegetation / cover. Thanks again for this; absolutely would like to see some more in-depth "what I use and when I use it" style videos. Very best to you and your family and good luck in 2024!

I've become dissatisfied with my current rod and reel company, the quality has really declined the last couple of years. I do have three older 13 fishing rods I really like though and will definitely be looking at some new ones in the near future
I'm just one voice in the crowd, but I have several 13s and really like them. Have a look at the C2 and A2 Kyle shows in this video; the C2 is incredibly light and has 20-some pounds of drag. I mainly throw the Omen series, but also have Fate, Muse and the Defy silver ultralight. Good luck out there!

I use a 7’9 heavy if it’s super super thick but I go with a 7’6heavy a lot more now if I can get away with it
