    • @jek__

      Sadly surviving the end of the world is often times the most realistic scenario a city-dweller has to imagine themselves living in nature. Hence the popularity of the zombie apocalypse trope or any similar ones like post-nuclear war fallout or economic collapse. It represents a situation where the strength of the human support network collapses in such a way that forces us back into our natural setting, because most people won't go back without being forced, but many people deeply crave to. Economic collapse scenarios are probably among the more realistic fantasies for some sort of return to nature. Zombies being fictional and post-war fallout being slightly outdated (though of course still possible, less of a concern than in years past). That is to say, while that kind of content can be a bit grating, maybe because some of those people tend to be outcasted for their thoughts and therefore adopt pride in behaviours which may not be prosocial, I think it's an understandable fantasy

    The peacefulness one feels after a week in the woods is like finding a lost treasure. Well worth going into the forest. The next best thing for peace in your life is 20 minutes of meditation each day. If your diligent you'll find out what happens next. That life has a greater meaning. Plant a hi yield indeterminate tomato. The yeti will visit your camp eat the tomatoes and leve without causing any trouble. If you have a family with children visiting make two or three patches. The young ones may brake the fence fighting over the best tomato. Good luck.

    i know this was like two years ago, but i also know Advoko is a man who appreciates a neat trick or two.
    easiest way to repair a torn tarp is to take a penny, put it on the inside edge about half an inch below the tear, overlap both sides of the tear over it, then wrap a bit of line around the indent of the penny on the outside.
    also works great if you tear the Guy rope off a tent by say...."drunkenly tripping over it at night" as a completely random and definitely not specific example.

    Supposed to working at the moment but nope. When Advoko uploads, work and all other responsibilities can wait for another 32 minutes :) You're living my dream. Keep up the good work.
    Edit: Though I know this isn't Bushcraft per se, making an copper-magnet electric generator which would be slowly filling appropriate batteries which you could use to recharge some of your batteries would be an awesome, environmentally-friendly application for your watermill in the future. This could be a secondary objective for the watermill as the transferred water could still be used for any other applications. It would just require you to build a makeshift generator inside the watermill itself. It would be a very difficult but it would be an awesome project!

    • @markfergerson2145
      @markfergerson2145 4 года назад +3

      It's a lot simpler to use an automobile alternator. At the low speeds the mill will generate it will take longer to charge a battery but the alternator should last practically forever. It could be left running constantly (even with no battery connected- the alternator won't care) or with some kind of clutch or friction wheel (like old fashioned bike generators) or or even quick-disconnect so something else can be connected, as the grain grinder at the end of the video is probably hooked to the shaft. Or belts (bushcraft rope of course) and pulleys, there are many ways to do it.
      Advoko, if you're reading this, most people who want to build a waterwheel sawmill imagine a big rotating circular blade, but a reciprocating saw is simpler and less dangerous. You have to build a crank mechanism but if you can make the bearings for the main shaft you can build a crank that will last.

      it is not logical to transfer kinetic energy to electric energy then transfer the electric energy to a kinetic energy again because you will lose at least 40 percent of power with each process
      and because you already have kinetic energy at the first place
