I have to say, of all the mini-kit demos I’ve been hearing lately, this Gretsch kit has the fullest, best sound. Nick’s usual great playing also factors in.
Nick! this was the absolute BEST! demo of this fantastic new drum kit. i’m reaching the end of my “ playing out” drumming life, and thinking this set would be the perfect downsize bedroom recording studio set. Great clean musical drumming and demo using sticks, brushes ect......and explaining the details of the product. Sweetwater generally has good quality product demos anyway, but this kills it !!!
An awesome review Sweetwater I have a Catalina club 22-22 kick 12-9 rack Tom 16-16 floor Tom I absolutely love it Keep it up Sweetwater thanks for the amazing emails I get and the great customer service 🔥🔥
This is such a sick mini bop kit. Gretsch Brooklyn series drums are fantastic quality drums. If I had the budget or ability to have an acoustic kit it would be one this sized and fitted with Roland triggers and use either a TM-6 pro or a Yamaha EAD-10 for a hybrid kit.
Sounds pretty phat for such a tiny kit but then I looked at the price, dayum, you could build a small sized Neil Peart kit by buying a few Ludwig Breakbeats for similar money, lol
ONLY thing about micro bass drums. if you over play the cymbal or its too wide. bass drum sound completely disappears. so watch your touch. i suppose if you mic anything and compress it . it can sound good .
@@oneeyedlittleman I'd hardly call it "just decorating", the shells are made especially for Gretsch by Keller and Gretsch designed the shells themselves, it's nothing like the stuff the boutique companies do where they do actually just decorate a generic Keller maple shell with generic hardware and big price inflation.
Sounds great, but its basically the same size dimensions and setup as my Ludwig Breakbeats kit. And I've made some fairly minor, inexpensive improvements to the Breakbeats kit to get a sound that I actually prefer to this. The Ludwig comes with a 14 snare, BTW. And I have that silver sparkle finish that actually should be called white sparkle. Beautiful. Those low volume cymbals sound great.
Have to say, I was never a fan of 13 inch Floor Toms until this video. This kit really packs a punch even for such small sizes, it's probably the best sounding micro kit on the market, even compared to some of the high end custom offerings from other brands. Really liking the sound of this, I see a Gretsch Brooklyn (in larger sizes) in my future. Just curious, any plans for Sweetwater to make videos on the process of how to order high end custom drum sets through Sweetwater? Say for example I was looking to order custom sizes for a high end Gretsch, DW, Pearl, or other brand kit, how would that process work? I'd love to see that video done with a Gretsch USA Custom/Broadkaster, DW Collectors or Pearl Music City/Masterworks kit!!
Nick, you crack me up too. Awesome demo, and that’s coming from a guitar player. But I’m super interested in home recording. I know you said they would be good for bee bop and jazz and worship... also cover gigs. As a guitarist and low budget, home recording just tying to get real drum sounds guy, how would these work for recording at home? I like the small footprint and the sound, but if I were to use a SM-57 on the kick and condenser overhead as a 2 mic setup, would I be able to get good sounds for like jam and garage rock sounds? I like to record songs and have fun with it, and not being a drummer, would this be a good setup to get a more real sound to record? Thanks for the great demo SW and especially Nick, I love all your stuff.
I watch your videos for the music, the product is a byproduct. You make everything sound great because of your music. In this case, I wonder if the almost hummable pitch of the toms will interfere with songs in keys that are not sympathetic...? Larger toms have a less defined pitch...
This is very different to the Catalina, the shell is completely different, 302 hoops rather than thin triple flanged hoops, totally different hardware, made in the USA and has silver sealer
@@Drummerpocket they have the exact same dimensions, maple/poplar ply shells, same wrap, and even the Tom mount is identical. Maybe you should do some research before you cop an attitude, missy.
Hi, Steve. For best bang for buck, I'd go Humes & Berg Galaxy. They make bags that are of perfect size. Call us if you need any help picking out the right ones! Thanks for the interest! Cody Kraus, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1766, cody_kraus@sweetwater.com
Hey I'm interested in buying a kit and I have a couple of questions when you buy the kit and it says 7 piece shell kit will it come with hoops, a head, and the lugs? Do you ship to Australia? What currency is the website using? Thank you I'm looking forward to purchasing a kit
Hello! When you have a moment, please give us a call at (800) 222-4700 or email us at sales@sweetwater.com. We'd be glad to look into all the questions you may have. Thanks for the message!
Hey, Vockrodt Music production. Absolutely. Especially in the bebop and hardbop styles. That little kick drum also packs a punch and is very versatile. Thanks, Jason Thiele, Senior Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1391, jason_thiele@sweetwater.com
Thanks for checking out this rad Gretsch Brooklyn Micro kit with us! If you enjoyed this video be sure to like, comment, and subscribe!
Set. Drum set. Brooklyn set. Be bop set.
So cool and clean
Nick’s expressions when he plays the drums is priceless! Nice kit and awesome playing by him as usual.
Watch some Gene Krupa videos. Same thing!
Drummer's face. Dig it
Gretsch drums are awesome, even the budget line, tune them to perfection and you have an awesome kit
True. All grestch drums sound amazing
Well.. anything tuned to perfection... Is perfect..
@@artisupitis2147 lol I almost choked lol
This is definitely one of the best little kits I’ve ever heard. Always the demo master, Nick does it again! Super warm sound for sure.
I have to say, of all the mini-kit demos I’ve been hearing lately, this Gretsch kit has the fullest, best sound. Nick’s usual great playing also factors in.
It's the tuning. Most of the demos I've heard of mini-kits are tuned properly.
Well its also the construction lol This is an actual “high end” kit. $2500 vs $600 micro kits
Nick! this was the absolute BEST! demo of this fantastic new drum kit.

Biggest splash cymbal I've seen yet
Hey Nick D, This kit is a winner! Also Thank you for not putting a hole 😉 in the Resonant head of the bass drum. Sounds so mellow. C.W.
Your demos are the best I've seen. Each thing sounds very musical to me, like a micro song. More power to you!
Just here to watch Nick play hahah....nice looking kit 👌
this kit sounds amazing! That brush toss did me in
Great chops nick! Great sounding kit! It sounds vintage
Cool kit and awesome finish, but I love my 24” kick too much 😂
Cool kit, awesome finish, but I love being able to eat, pay for my prescriptions AND play a much, much cheaper set of drums.
i'm a tama guy, but i gotta admit gretsch has that unique great sound, this is the best sounding mini kit for me yet
An awesome review Sweetwater I have a Catalina club
22-22 kick
12-9 rack Tom
16-16 floor Tom I absolutely love it
Keep it up Sweetwater thanks for the amazing emails I get and the great customer service 🔥🔥
Very cool brush demo Nick and great sounding kit!
I like the finish
Looks like a perfect starter set
Brooklyn’s might be a bit overkill for a starter kit, I’d go with the Catalina line at first, but no doubt they are fantastic drums.
Yeah $1900 starter kit
Sounds like somebody's havin' some fun 😃

Nick D kills it as usual 👍🏼
Great playing
Sounds pretty phat for such a tiny kit but then I looked at the price, dayum, you could build a small sized Neil Peart kit by buying a few Ludwig Breakbeats for similar money, lol
But they wouldn't sound as good.
Ludwig backbeats are not even in the same universe as Gretsch Brooklyn’s
ONLY thing about micro bass drums. if you over play the cymbal or its too wide. bass drum sound completely disappears. so watch your touch. i suppose if you mic anything and compress it . it can sound good .
As usual GRETSCH sounding and looking great and Nick always doing a fantastic job. American made drums just have better tonal quality.
Alvaro Cordova you do know that Gretsch doesn't make drums right? Keller does and Gretsch just decorates them

Ooohh I like this kit!
I WANT ONE!
I want to take drum lessons from Nick!
Love it. Nick, you are the best. Amazed two bozos gave this a thumbs down. Why dummies, why?
That is a smol drum set
Oo that’s looks insane 🔥🔥🙆🏾♂️
just snagged one!

Then you need to check out the Ludwig Breakbeats by Questlove. No joke.
Very nice! What drum kit is this?
Even with the stock Gretsch heads they sound good.
They are Remo heads
So pretty.
Here we go
Nice
Curious what sort of tuning was used on the snare?
Love it
Can you buy just the snare?
A stand out kit
All you need

I bought this exact drum set 20 years ago when it was called the Catalina.
This is very different to the Catalina, the shell is completely different, 302 hoops rather than thin triple flanged hoops, totally different hardware, made in the USA and has silver sealer
Not the same as Catalinas...Not even close
@@Drummerpocket they have the exact same dimensions, maple/poplar ply shells, same wrap, and even the Tom mount is identical. Maybe you should do some research before you cop an attitude, missy.
Kit sounds great for being 'micro' but those CYMBALS!!! I'm in love
How is it in comparison to the catalina jazz club from a few years back.....i remember the hardware being a little temperamental.
I believe these are a lot more heavy duty considering the shells are part maple. The Catalina's are not.
Such a cute good looking kit that's sounds quality. Shame it's out of my budget.
So what bags would you recommend with this, to minimize the carry-in?

They look great in white marine pearl, compared to the grey finish gretsch was offering in it.

👏👏👏👏👏
now THAT'S what i call a demo!! (& as for Nick D'Virgilio -just discovered new TERRIFIC player!!)
This would be perfect if the bass drum claw hooks were rubber lined.
Awesome drums, i win this with the dw snare right? jk
Something easier to carry around…especially as you get older…
Also, stages are getting smaller..
Those toms are tuned way too low! Sounded like hitting paper. Beautiful kit.
Try using some headphones, they don't sound paper-y at all lol
Does this suit for metal?
Totes metal
Only Death Metal
Blast beats all day
I can see what you were going for I just couldn't hear it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
all sound great to me except kick drum it's a little weak imo
Where is my wallet?
Didn't Like the bass drum ...Nice snare though ...if this goes for more than 500$ it's a rip off
Not for that price not worthit
This kit vs Sonor Safari AQ2 WMP
