This tale, "The Story of the Beast" by Madam de Villeneuve, is read in a soft voice and set to some light and soft background music. I do hope you enjoy the this evening's longer excerpt from an even longer fairytale, "The Story of Beauty and the Beast!" In it, we discover the true nature of the curse the evil fairy put on the young prince, why his mother, the queen, was so often at war (and she was really good at it!) and all the effort another good fairy had to go through to help the beast prince break the curse.

Wow! Beast is really emo in this one. Also, the good fairy is super smart. She knew Beast would mess it up by spilling the beans so she told him what to say. LoL

Notice how the tale sometimes mentions genies and spirits, as male supernatural creatures. In french, the word fairy (fée) indicates a woman, usually a sorceress, of the Other World, so their male counterparts are called things like spirits. But the English word Faerie (from french Féerie/Faierie, the land of the Fées/Faes) is used for all the little people, indiscriminately, which does cause some confusion in translations.
If I remember correctly, the wicked fairy fell into lust with the prince upon her return given how handsome he grow in the time they too were apart. This is why she made the 180 in regards to being seen as a maternal figure. A part of the reason the prince was turned off was because of her uglyness but the bigger part was that this woman was a second mother to him. He could never love her as a woman.

Edit: I feel like the issue is more about the fact that the beast was a child and the fairy was his Foster mum than the fairy's looks but okay I guess
