I've replaced short rudder line tubes with irrigation hose but I use full length rudder to controls so as not to worry about water entering my hull. For the ends I used plastic hose barbs. I just get the splicer barbs and cut one side off so it has a head on it. I made a video replacing the old brittle /broken lines in a feelfree 11.5 lure there's a short section in the middle where I explain the process. I replaced the strings with SS cable. I'm enjoying your DIY content!
Jeremy back around 2011 Hobie changed the rudder design that included a port rudder up pull cord and a stbd rudder down pull cord which enabled a more secure rudder deployment. The rudder design was also improved. For several years after Hobie offered a left/right up/down rudder pull cord conversion kit to the single handle twist and stow models. This kit was acquired by the previous owner (my father-in-law) but never installed until I took it off his hands. I just tried searching for this kit on the Hobie parts site but couldn't find it. I would suggest you call Hobie and see if they still have them?
This would be so helpful but the camera is misaligned for almost all the critical steps. You can’t see what he’s actually doing. Please remake this video.

Great video covering one of the more complex service items for the Hobie Islands. Keep the videos coming!
Hey there, Roy, helpful video even if the framing was a bit off. The picture quality is superb. What camera are you using?
What have you done to the 2009 AI I just got one and would like to see some ideas.

Sorry some of the video content is off-frame at the bottom, thought about re-doing it but I think I've rather not, hope it's still useful for you.
