I wash my hair in twists sooooo much especially if I'm not in my own shower. (Example; Renting a room, staying with family, at a hotel.) I just don't want a shameful hairy mess in the tub to clean. I detangle and twist on damp or dry hair, wash it like you focusing on scalp and really get in there, rinse well, apply my conditioner or deep conditioner squeezing it through the twists and retwist as needed if tangly, rinse after a good while letting it soak, add moisturizer and retwist into smaller sections to air dry faster..my hair stays softer, grew longer than ever, and stays flexible for 3 days before needing a retwist. I still retwist at night though. Just to reduce tangles and I FINGER DETANGLE all my processes to save my hair from thinning out, getting splits, and excessive frizz. Washing twists is like washing dread locks.
I actually twist my hair in about 8 to 10 medium size twists as well but I dilute my shampoo a whittle bit and massage it into my scalp. The main focus is my scalp but as I rinse the shampoo out, the soapy water runs through my hair strands and cleanses it as well.
Method is good however I think your demonstration could have been better. You don't need to apply the shampoo directly to the length of your hair but when you start to we your hair you need to work the shampoo down the strands of the hair. For those using this method be sure to use an applicator bottle or even a condiment bottle with a pointed tip. It is more effective in getting the shampoo on the scalp. You can even do it that way with the conditioner. I've found that putting shampoo and conditioner directly on my scalp and working it down the hair strands makes a difference in the softness and detangaling of my hair.
Also scratching out the scalp with a fine tooth comb helps to lift the dandruff, dry scalp or scabs up to make sure It gets clean before shampooing. And soaking the hair with water before you start washing your hair helps get the shampoo suding through the scalp which helps you use less products.
I live in Ghana and most parts of my city is dusty... I need to shampoo my whole head, including the length cos sometimes my scalp doesn't look dirty but my length looks dusty and dirty😞
jazminelovenicki I feel like that depends. Like as long as u condition well after washing ur actual hair with shampoo, u should be fine. I don’t really understand why people only wash there scalp too sometimes cuz like I’m putting the products throughout my hair not my scalp. It’s like washing just ur scalp make sense but doesn’t at the same time. It kinda depends on how much product u have in ur hair.
Yes I have tried it but I’m I the only one that have tangles between the transitioning point of hair root Nd twisted part? Like when I unravel I get tangled hair right at the junction of hair
Your correct is my wrong. Sure it’s easier for you, especially if you’re nervous about tangles, but product buildup easily occurs in those twists if you’re not very thorough. I only twist up after a deep conditioning, while I’m rinsing it out. And once all of my hair is twisted I go back under the water again. I also only shampoo once a month though, my hair prefers conditioner, shampoos strip too much out for me. Neat video though.
Oh gosh HOW do you get your twists to look so amazing? I can never get mine to stay twisted while I shampoo or even rinse out after i d.c, they keep unraveling so i braid loosely instead. We have similar hair textures and lengths so any tips will help! Thanks!
I live in Ghana and most parts of my city is dusty... I need to shampoo my whole head, including the length cos sometimes my scalp doesn't look dirty but my length looks dusty and dirty😞. So, in short, I shampoo the whole thing 🤣
But I need to learn how to really wash in twist, my hair doesn't shrink very much(not saying it doesn't, it does, maybe 50%) It tangles a lot😖 when I wash it
yall need to actually wash the length of the hair. shampoo works like soap and detergent, it cleans by agitating (lathering) to attract the dirt and oils. Not scrubbing your hair or body is like washing the top half of your body and saying youre clean because the soap runs down to your bottom half. Not scrubbing the detergent when washing your clothes is like scrubbing the top half of your dress, rinsing the dress and claiming the whole dress in clean from the run off. This is not correct! It has to first attract the dirt via agitation in order to wash the dirt away with a rinse! Tldr: wash the length of your hair because shampoo need agitation to clean. It wont clean with run off from the lather on your scalp. Its the science of surfactants.
Victory Dan-Dukor thank you for dropping knowledge on people. I don't bother even trying now cos naturals have decided (with no scientific proof 🙄) that rinsing shampoo will somehow clense the rest of the hair. smh people if you don't want to use science, then use common sense about soaps
Victory Dan-Dukor I use natural products most of the time and I love for them to stay on my ends to keep them lubricated which helps with tangles. She mentioned in her video that if you use certain heavy thick products that you DO need to work the shampoo on your length as well as your scalp. The scalp is where most buildup naturally occurs (sebum, dead skin, and for some, manually applied oils) but if you manually add more buildup onto your ends then you would use a more thorough method. Natural products like oil and butter wash away much easier than mineral oils and silicone. It's preference, hair type and product type that determine your methods. Plus trial and error. I like her method here and it works for her so do what works for you. The ends are to be preserved and shampoo does not protect the ends in any way. It exposes them which can be good, and can be bad depending on what you do to protect them after that harsh step. If you shampoo your ends a lot, follow up with an amazing deep conditioner and after rinsing lock in the moisture right away because the ends are the most fragile part of the strand. My hair is longer than ever in my entire life and I recommend everyone figure out the structure of hair and figure out their own hair. It's an extention of your DNA so no one else has your exact hair. It's so amazing when it's healthy. Reading "the science of black hair" helped me to figure it all out and have that eureka moment. (Thats if YOU WANT of course) P.S. I know I talk a lot hahaha peace and love though!
It depends. If I want to style in twists, I take down each twist to moisturize and put it back in a twist right after washing. But if I want to put my hair in an updo, I take down the twists after they are dry or semi dry, which takes a day or so.

Argan Rain natural shampoo works really well. It nourishes the hair, adds texture and leaves with pleasant aroma. The best thing is you do not need to use much to feel the softness immediately. You can find it in google
Paulette Ora right, and look at your hair, it looks beautiful. PEOPLE, LISTEN TO WHAT THE GIRLS WITH THE LONGER HAIR WITH THE SAME TEXTURE AS YOURS IS SAYING. THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. ❤❤
So smart. Thanks lady 😀
I use 8 twists, but I untwist each one for shampooing and retwist it - to ensure it’s clean and to get all of the debris out!!!
Great video this is how I wash my hair. It has saved my wash day. Less breakage and manipulation on my strands. And less stress for me!

Amanda C thanks for sharing your method!
I do 8-12 braids instead because my hair won't hold the twist unless their super small
PunkGirlRock girl same
me too i braid my hair but it STILL COMES APART
Ms. Woodard put shower clips on the middle so it wont be all loose
same i’m ready for my hair to grow out so i can make twists
That's alot of work

Ima try this because every time I rinse my hair from shampoo it gets tangled up but girl I love your hair 😍😍💕
Good video. My hair gets really tangled when washing free-form. Washing hair in twists makes hair washing easier. Thanks
This exactly what I've been looking for, thanks Dear. Please make a vedio on how to moisturize hair in twist.
I actually tried this and conditioner method in twists and i like it. Thanks for sharing.

It obviously works just fine for her.. and her hair is long, thick, and healthy.
@@yellowbuttons4289 My comment was more for those watching that might want to try this but thanks for the input
This is the best way for me so far..great job👏👏👏

Any hair dresser will tell you the same thing, the run-off from your scalp when you rinse it will clean the rest of your hair

Cause the mousse wash the length when you rinse
And it depend of your products build up
@@GraduateJLN That depends on how long you went without washing your hair and how much products you used

Great tips, I will try this method to retain volume. I have long hair but lack the density.
I like your voice, so calm!
Can you make suggest on good conditioner and shampoo product on natural hair pls. Thanks for sharing this
Do you pre-poo a day before shampooing? Please Im trying to understand all these as I'm currently transitioning

Saratu Shafi'i yes me too my twist are flappy and all.
So how or when do you detangle your hair. I ask because I usually detangle my hair while I'm in the shower?
I love you and your channel❤❤and thanks for this video I really needed
When do you use the acv rinse? can i use aloe vera juice instead to balance the ph?
What shampoo and conditioner do you use for your 4c natural hair
Thank you, lol I just got twists for the first time so I needed this
Beautiful.😍. Lip colour poppn.

What about the other parts of your scalp. What about washing out product? Not sure if this is effective for a child's hair.

Victory Dan-Dukor i always wash my whole head. My strands need 2 b cleaned Jus like my scalp, i neva miss it.
Victory Dan-Dukor exactly because most of the products go ON THE LENGTH of your hair so I really don't get it

Do you ever experience knots at the end of your twists?
WHY DOES MY HAIR UNRAVEL EVEN IF I BRAID???!!!
Ms Woodard Make sure you braid it tightly towards the end.
Maybe try tying the ends with rubber bands
Do you finger coil or twirl your ends?
You saved me on this one, thanks gal
Do you have how to deep condishvideo ?
Yes, I do. It's my latest video.
your hair is so beautiful
What are the benefits of washing with twists.
Less tangles when you have a high level of shrinkage.
I needed this even though im 4b it'll still work though
Do I see a natural armyyyyy?
So if u shampoo your hair with twist do u still need to pre poo
I would love to see a full wash day routine
My hair tangles so bad, hopefully this helps
How often do u wash ur hair
This is the method I use ❤

Good video, though I'd still prefer to shampoo the length of my hair especially after a protective style like mini twists
The length of ur hair does need to be cleaned also....sksks cause that dirty shampoo water that's going down ur hair strand is not cleaning it
I’m going to try this right now because washing my hair take a hour in the shower
Great video great idea
Hello dear am new in your channel please how can I grow my hair to be as healthy as yours what re d product you use I live Germany
How do you get your hair so dark..
Maria Morais u sound ignorant
lipstick color?
Thanks
Why do you was with your twist in
Dont that make the hair tangled
Tanx
yoh guys.. i tried this and by the i unravelled there was product build up.... i am crying..
That's terrible. If ever you try again, squeeze your twists while you have shampoo on them. That's how the product buildup gets out.
Igbocurls thank you i will try it
You did great, but warm water makes your hair dry
It doesn’t make my hair dry
You have an uncanny resemblance to Buchi Emecheta
This isn’t even cleaning all of your scalp smh. Just your parted sections
It is and it still does. At the time I filmed this video, I wasn’t able to show how clearly I do so. I have more updated routines now.
