This is about Australia and Western politics. China has a growing footprint, massive money pumped into the PNG economy, massive quality infrastructure development that Australia had ignored over time. Australia had ignored PNGs talent in the QLD Cup and the Hunters is not a feeder club. This is not a genuine intention but a political move to counter China so forget it
It is long over due. 18th team must come from PNG
You’ll need extra referees on the field for all the fights that players from PNG will start. If you think that’s offensive try and being a white tourist in Port Moresby (HELL ON EARTH). Just look at the human rights abuses and the crime rate in your Country

Australia has much influence in PNG and rugby league is a classic example. And by the way, where do you think the States of Origin started? The first ever states of origin was played during the world war II here in PNG. NSW soldiers vs QLD soldiers. I think Australia owes PNG big time and also since Australia started it by introducing rugby in PNG, she needs to finish it.

I don't have a problem with PNG having a team - but it needs to stack up for the right reasons. Geopolitics isn't one of them.
Perth for me, so it's a NO towards the PM's little pet project, unless we can get more mining permits in the PNG. If the PNGRL are going to make money off the NRL, there has to be some kind of trade-off.

South Island nz team for me its another cool rival game for the nrl considering the west coast on the south island have produced amazing rugby players
The reason the noise registered higher at the Matilda's game over any league game played at that stadium, is that girls and women scream louder than men cheer at the football and league attracts more male spectators to fill the seats...The Matilda's game had more females in attendance...

This PNG team is purely a political tactic against China, it would only work if the Aus government pays huge money to fund it all.
I think for the game the best is to have a Perth team, but I think the final aim at this stage is to get to 20 teams so assuming Perth is the 19th I would have the 2nd NZ team the 20th.

PNG really deserve to granted NRL license because they love rugby league

WA just the biggest state that holds up the country's economy and fills stadiums consistently yet we are looking at PNG what a disgrace!
18th team should be Christchurch NZ. So that both islands have a team. They would then have their own derby, which could even build into their own island of origin
I think people over estimate how many people live in the south Island, there is probably more case for 3 teams in the north before a south island team.

@@MicahBell_1860 there is 4 Million living on the much smaller North Island compared to the 1 million living on the South island, the North can handle alot more teams and generally has more league interest as well.
