xXNativeBeastXx it’s Rage Against The Machine and they are absolute legends. All the covers don’t come close to touching their talent. Look up Bulls On Parade.
Yeah, I have to say, my heart hurt a little when I saw him experiencing the song for the first time as a remake, when the original was perfection. No hate, im happy MGK appreciates it and wants to do a rendition, but, the original is so pure, you can feel every bit of that emotion with every note played and every word that comes from his mouth. This just felt like the original with the volume turned down.
@@Dropla I couldn't agree more. I'm all for covers that do something different with the song but this was just the same song but worse. It's done well, I'm not saying its bad, but its not trying to do anything different and MGK doesn't have what Zach has.
Rage deserves a real listen, they were one of the first heavy rock bands to fuze with rap. Unlike the other bands, Rage has only one guy doing the rapping and the singing/screaming. Zach De La Rocha, he can rap, its just aggressive and to the point there's no bars to breakdown. The name Rage Against the Machine epitomizes the band and their music more than any other band, group, or artist in my opinion. They literally Rage Against the machine on Every Track.
Which is baffling that does video supports Democrats it promotes the machine that you're supposed to Rage Against but that's nothing compared to Tom Morello endorsing Hillary Clinton I lost all respect for that guy
@@KamikOzzy_ I mean, I like MGK more as a rock artist than a rapper personally; but I have to agree with Robert on this one. Just because he is a rapper, doesn't mean it isn't a weaker copy of the original. The original is just one of those songs that can have good covers, but it will always just be standing solo on a plinth. Similar to The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel. To each their own I guess. But yeah, just because he is a rapper who transitioned to rock doesn't make his rock deserving of any more credit than others who started in rock and continue their path, IMO.
@@KamikOzzy_ Why would another rapper do what he does? This cover is just one to one the original with no ideas or new stuff added and with less power. It's uninspired at best musicaly with quite a good video. Also you hear they had to enhance his screaming in post production a lot to let it sound similar. Why do that?
Mate if your not jumping out your seat listening to any of these songs there's somthing wrong and this is just afew of many great songs. 1. wake up 2. Bulls on parade 3. Know your enemy 4. renagades of funk 5. Down Rodeo
Yes! Do all the RATM!! You'd love it. (We'd love it) I grew up listening to them and they spoke deep truths during the apartheid era in South Africa. So they always have a special place in my heart. It's heartbreaking and fucked-up that their words are still valid. Also, to everyone still talking MGK down, please take a seat at the table of him showing how it's done: 1) taking on the big dog and moving straight up in the world 2) releasing nonstop content in a pandemic 3) using the uptick in revenue to feed his city 4) protesting out there since this started no matter how many dumbass racists stopped following him 5) putting his money where his mouth is supporting BLM
"Some of those that work forces are the same that burn crosses." MGK been out there protesting for like a week. This is all real, raw footage from him being out there in the front lines in LA. He did this song justice. He definitely out here killing it and killing in the name of...
If MGK was ''out here killing in the name of'', he would be no different from those burning crosses. Thats the whole reason why they left the title open ended, because everyone whos is killing has something to justify it by
You should check out the Original Killing in the Name of. Really any one of their songs. Wake Up, Know your Enemy there too many to name. Make sure you have the lyrics with you when the song starts
RATM have HUGE hip hop and rap influences in there music just for future reference. They would actually fit on your channel quite nicely. Trust me bro. Zack de la Rocha is one of the best MCs of all time. Period.
That album came out a year before i was born and i've always had it. Still listen to it on the weekly! I would love to see you react to bullet in the head or township rebellion!
So many comments complaining about the cover.. If he did this at any other time I'd agree with you guys. But he's taking a stand and making a statement. It's more about the video (on site protesting with BLM) and the message of the song IN THIS MOMENT and hopefully getting some of his otherwise indifferent fans to engage in the discussion, than trying to best the original or make something new. This is just a decent "cover-band cover", but adds nothing to the original and greatly lacks the energy and "nerve" in the vocals. Normally I'd think it was an "unnecessary cover", too, but right now I just respect the heck out of him for it.
Stevie. You should also do “take the power back”, “wake up”, and “Bulls on Parade”. Rage is one if not my fav bands of all time if and their music is as relevant today as it was then. Which is sad, because music relating to the issues of today is nothing new, yet we’re still all dealing with the same bs all these years later. Much love from Canada.
If you get a chance, you should check some older MGK out.. even if you don’t react to it (which I would love if you did react) Alpha Omega is one I love. Against the World is older but I loved it, he was crazy young. He has a whole catalogue of great tracks. Whole Hotel Diablo album was touuuuugghh!
Wait!! If you listen to the original of this song by Rage, PLEASE watch them do it live. Just look for “Rage Against the Machine - Killing In The Name - 1993”. It’s SO good and way better than the studio/music video version. The crowd and performance adds a whole other feeling and depth to the song (for me).
This is a shocking cover of one of the greatest protest songs ever. No passion, anger and raw production of the original. What a slap in the face of the message of this song.
nah we can't lie, that original Eminem diss was fucking sick. I'm a huge Eminem fan (as 99% of people watching your vids would be too) but that diss alone made me respect MGK. His Hotel Diablo album was phenomenal. I got pure respect from him as a artist now.
Thx for this reaction Mate @ I didn`t even know there are awesome covers of the RATM.....now I got something to do @ search for over covers ^^ Origin is from the Rodney King thing and Rage made a Song about it

It is hard to put Tom on the guitar in the background IMO, but I get what you're saying. They always had a strong message and it is crazy how relevant it is now almost 30 years later. Great comment
