A story of IRAQ that NOBODY KNOWS!

- In 1928 a New Zealand born civil engineer set out to build a road linking Erbil in Northern Iraq to the Iranian border.
Completed in just 4 years and now called the Hamilton Road, this incredible feat of engineering would cross mountains, seemingly impassable gorges, and rivers. As well as this, Hamilton would have to contend with more human obstacles of warring tribes, brigands, bureaucrats, injury and disease.
In this mini-documentary I travel and tell the story of the Hamilton Road as it crosses northern mountains of Iraqi Kurdistan. The views are spectacular, and it’s hard to believe that this can be Iraq and Kurdistan. We travel through Shaqlawa, Rawanduz, Gali Ali Bag, the Korek Mountain Resort, Shingelbana Pank Resort and Khanzad Castle towards the Zagros mountains and Iran.
For more of Hamilton’s story, his book A Road Through Kurdistan makes for a fascinating read.

This video is purely made to show the beauty of the area and what it is really like there. It's not intended for there to be any political statement, so please let's just focus on the positives and keep politics out of it. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy the video!
This is Iraq, not separatist US-backed so-called fake "Kurdistan".
Loved the video. It's so good to see someone narrating history and telling facts instead of a self proclaimed "RUclipsr" who is all about "Watch me eat , watch me sneeze ...etc. "
Thank you! Glad you liked it, it took quite a while to make this one
beautiful peaceful
The sights along the Hamilton road really show the beauty here
As a kurdish if someone hate us we hate them alot .
And if someone love us we love them forever.
I'd love to return for sure!
Welcome to Kurdistan chris kermis, come to Qandil mountain, Kurdistan beautiful in spring❤️💛💚
Thank you, I hope you liked the video, it’s been so amazing!
My town lovely rawandz☺️🤍

Wow love you kurdistan 😍😍😍
Thank you, hope you enjoyed the video!
Incredibly beautiful landscape and thanks for the history of the Hamilton road
A great day and my first outside of Erbil on that trip. This one's probably my favourite video but it's also the one that took the longest to make!
This is more than a vlog, it's a documentary ,it's awesome. Thanks for taking the time to create such a wonderful documentary, the narrative, the music and your voice is really spot on also quite informative that I am sure even most of the locals highly appreciate this wonderful video. Keep being awesome
Thanks
Thank you so much! That’s the way this story felt to me and the way I felt I had to tell it. ❤️
What a beatifull video thanks ♥️
I'm glad you liked the video! Thank you!
Great effort putting this up, such a good job and very well documented! It brings me nice memories, even though it was just few months ago. It was really quiet when I went up there and definitely no snow.
Thanks, glad you liked it. It was certainly a lot of fun to make, and that was just one day!
welcome to kurdistan 🇹🇯🖤
It’s so beautiful!!
This was a great video, thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Cool video, one of your best yet. I love reading up on the history of some of these places and then going to visit them, it makes it so much more interesting.
Thanks! It was such a beautiful place I wanted the video to do it justice, as good as I can at least. A bunch of footage was sadly written off due to a combination of stupid mistakes and a camera issue, but I think it still came good :)
it realy was a original documentary type video i enjoyed it. thanks
Thank you! It took effort to make it this way but I thought it was worth it!
@@ChrisKermis good luck on your journey. love from melbourne.
Lots of improvement from first utube seen , keep up this, as you looks very different of others utubers , hard work with lots of informations about the chosen area .
Thank you! I was happy with this one :-) Some of the earlier stuff was more of a test run, but I like this kind of mini-documentary style. It's the most work though!

Great video
Thanks, glad you liked it!
To all bloggers with respect well come to Kurdistan, but Stop saying Iraqi Kurdistan, we don’t say English Scotland . Is Kurdistan simple beautiful video but this is a Kurdish language and land !
I mean no offence on this and hope you appreciate it's difficult for myself and others. If I use just Kurdistan then on the other side many will say "no this is Iraq". I want to stay away from that and simply show the beauty of your land.
Wonderful video, thank you
Thank you, I thought this was a fascinating story and some beautiful places!

Iraq is beautiful
Welcome to Kurdistan It's true you've seen a lot of beautiful places, but know you've only seen a little bit of that beauty. Sorry, but why didn't you come to Erbil? To see erbil citadel and many historical places of Kurdistan
Thank you! I did come to Erbil, in fact I stayed there for most of my time. Just spent 1 night away in Suli and another in Duhok. You can see a bit of Erbil in my first Kurdistan video, but there'll be another video coming which will show more. I've still got quite a lot of content to put together :-)
Well, I thank you for talking about my city. It's really a beautiful thing. I'm proud of you. Good luck for the next time.
@@zakaria_tahsin9424 Thank you so much for your kind words, I certainly hope to come back some day!

first its not iraq sir its kurdistan only😡😡 second welcome to kurdistan 😍😍
My apologies, it is not my intention to go at all into the politics of a country - I simply want to show the beauty, particularly to those in other countries who may have negative images. I put "Iraqi Kurdistan" so as to represent the part of Kurdistan which is an autonomous region within the current borders of Iraq. No intention to cause offence to you or any other Kurdish people. I hope at least I have shown Kurdistan in a good light, as the beautiful place that it is.
Her biji heval biji kurdistan Vivi kurdistan ❤️🇹🇯🇹🇯
You are really funny that it is the borders of Iraq and it is called the Kurdistan region of Iraq. Do not lie and believe the lie. You are not a state. It is only a province. All of your salaries are from Baghdad and the Iraqi government. Your oil is from the Iraqi government. You live and eat from the Iraqi nuggets, your money is Iraqi, your passports are Iraqi, so shut up. When you are a country, which is impossible to happen, because once iraq separates, Turkey will take the whole north region according to the expenditures of Sais-Pico. You are just a child. You do not know that this is a serious issue and that it is not a child’s game or pride. You are not Iraqis, and I admit this, and we are not honored to be of you, but the land belongs to us historically. real history. Politically, if you were really good, you would have gone out, fought and died in order to obtain a homeland. Do not sit behind the screen and bark like dogs. Iraq will remain one from the north to the south. You are only able to talk like this about northern Iraq. You have Turkey, Iran and Syria. You become cowards when you talk about it. You are really funny.
@@ChrisKermisCan you not go into the politics and history of the country? How shameful it is for you to present the problem only from their biased side. Why do you not go to Turkey, Iran, and Syria and meet the Kurds there as well and demand the building of a state, but do not come only to Iraq and demand the building of a state for the Kurds only here. Why should only we give our land to them and the rest of the countries do not give. The three provinces that you see are all built by Massoud from Iraq's money and oil that he took from the government of Iraq. And you, do you think that separation is so easy, who will agree, neither Turkey, nor Iran, nor Syria, nor us, nor America, nor Israel, which they have a relationship with, nor Russia, nor any strong country will agree because the borders are built according to the Sais-Picot agreement, and if this agreement is broken. This means that there are no Arab countries, all of which belong to Turkey. Do America and Europe accept that? You are talking about something that is impossible to happen. It is the policy of countries and not just the policy of Iraq, and these people are brainwashed. If we do not have love or origin, interests will bring us together. The Kurds are the ones who will die if the separation occurs. Turkey will seize everything and it will become a war. Turkey is thousands of times larger than three provinces. It is represented by Kurdistan and the army as well. Do not forget that Turkey is allied with all countries and America will also enter. The only loser in this all is the Kurds who demand a homeland They walk with their emotions, they do not study the subject, they do not see the truth, and they do not think about what will happen to them in the future
Yes it’s Iraq I’m Kurd to but still we share with Iraq so Kurdistan open for everyone if you want be county you have to except everything black whiat brown this matter
sorry this is kurdistan not iraq
Hope you enjoyed the video!

@@ChrisKermis recently seen your videos. food videos are good but i love the way you do your documentary type videos.your voice is like a pro tv presenter.
@@billydylan4084 That's the one's I like to make the most. Just finding my way at the moment and seeing what is most popular. The food vids get the most views though I think they could be a lot better. I'll continue to do both styles for now. Thanks a lot for your feedback!
To all the iraqis that got triggered and call this iraq would you just shut up? The man here just wants to show the landscapes. And yes it is kurdistan so you better accept it and acknowledge it just like your government did in 2005.
That "outlaw" you mention Simko Shikak is regarded as the William Wallace of Kurdistan. He started a rebellion against the extremely oppressive brutal ruler of Iran at the time which was a turkish density not persian. He led dead poor farmers and defeated the Iranian army several times. Of course he is demonsed as an "outlaw" and accused of all kind of rubbish like "massacres" by Iranian authorities who "wrote" history.
Interesting, I hadn't heard that side. Thanks for the info
That’s literally KURDISTAN not iraq
