If it were my son he wouldn't drive anything else I own including my lawnmower. Im sure it ran out of fuel, but you uncovered a secret of his when you pulled the fuel filter out 😂
Had this happen to a customer on his 2004 F250. Truck was in pristine shape, but he got some questionable fuel. I kicked on the pump with IDS and drained the tank, come to find out, he had Dieseline in his tank. I dropped the tank cleaned it out and found 3 pick up feet in his tank. 10 gallons of fresh diesel and a new HFCM and he was good to go. I advised to have the injectors replaced but that’s the only other thing I would’ve recommended. Looks like he’s in the same boat with that kind of contamination.
Yep. Archoil every fill up. Get my fuel from the truck lanes at the truck stops using my Open Roads account and have never seen water in the fuel when I drain the WIF. And never let my fuel level get below quarter tank.
Almost looks like someone poured a gallon of that Seafoam crap in there. Don't think those injectors will make it unless that thing is dismantled and cleaned immediately. Great job sleuthing out the issues. Seemed like a cylinder was down on the crank attempts too...
Pretty sure seafoam is petroleum based and should just mix with the fuel rather than separate. Been a while since I used it though, but I do seem to recall the directions tel, u to dump it in fuel tank.
Always fresh diesel from a higher volume station. I don't let it go below 1/4 tank. I always use additives for my 6.7 in the fuel, and occasionally for my 6.0 in the fuel.
My heart just skipped a beat thinking about what my dad would do! I had a flashback of him saying that when I made the connection between my brain and my ass that my ass would quit hurting! 😂
I have more PTSD now with the 6.7 than I had with the 6.0. I'm sure I will need some intense psychological treatment if ford re engineers a new one. I might have to prescribe myself with a ton of 7.3 to help my soul. DEF in the fuel, what a bummer.
@axl151 yeppppp. Them buggers sucked back then. Then they got rid of the fuel heater so u had to get a new harness jumper then that was on a galactic backorder. Man those were the dayz 😑
Tow it in and flush the fuel system and put some fuel in it with a really good conditioner and lots of it!..change the oil too and use a ford filter…had one that wouldn’t fire up like this one and found out the guy used a Napa filter instead of ford/navistar filter and it wouldn’t build oil pressure…those old 6.0’s love clean fuel/oil and factory filters…
My 2022 6.7 is my first diesel. I've done a lot of reading and viewing RUclips (esp A-Rod) and I do the following: 1. Fuel cap lock to prevent contamination, vandalism, etc. 2. Fuel and DEF are never added at the same stop. DEF never gets added in the fuel lane - I am not impervious to brain-farts. 3. Open Roads Fuel discount program. Forces me to to the truck lanes at truck stops, where high-quality fuel doesn't sit in the underground tanks for too long. 4. Hot Shot Secret every freaking tank.
Great video. Did you ever get to the answer? What happened? It looked like another video on the tube where a bottle of that 911 antigel was put in.. I'm making my list for your mobile service housecalls..I will feed you some good grub!
I don’t even want to think about what my dad would have done if I did that. Lol, nothing worse than your mother saying, “wait till your dad gets home”. Anticipation of death is worse than death itself!
Out of curiosity, why not check for water in fuel right away with the WIF light on? I know next to nothing about the 6.0 fuel system, so maybe there isn’t an easy way to drain tank or filter(s)?
@eldridge201 was like a month & a half ago pal. I already responded to what happened. He didn't want to wait to get it in the shop so we collected & left.....
not sure how diesel is over there, here we have Tesco gas statioins. which for some reason have a light roll coal which chokes up DPFs, we have adblue in 5qt containers sitting outside and disposed of at the roadside,
In the USA, as far as I know, only truck stops with the separate lanes for semi trucks have pump dispensers for DEF (adblue). Most other stations sell it by the plastic container (2.5 gal/9.5 L). Also found at many stores in the same packaging and quantity. Diesel fuel is not found at every pump or station here. Some stations may have 20 gasoline pumps and only 2 diesel pumps. I haven’t run into any major issues with different brands of diesel. I did have one station in the past 20+ years that had gasoline contaminated diesel and that cost me about 25- 30 gallons and half a day to get the contaminated fuel out.
Hey I believe you need to watch Dave’s auto center. There was a guy that came in with almost 900,000 miles on his 6.7L . Original CP-4 pump. Maybe you need to teach folks about how to extend the life of a 6.7L like this guy did.

That guy w\ 900k was a hotshoter and was super meticulous with his truck on maintenance and fuel additives, that's why he got so lucky with his CP4 - clean fuel from truck stops & additives every single time plus new fuel filters every oil change

A lot of truckstops have pumps with a diesel nozzle & a DEF nozzle side by side.
DEF nozzles are smaller & bright blue.
!
But the ones I’ve been at, you had to specifically hit the DEF button.
