In todays video I make a gyro watch winder to keep my automatic watch turning when I am not wearing it. A couple of years ago one of my first projects was a diy gyroscopic watch winder, I made this version to improve on the first one.
Check the blogpost and plans from the watch winder here:

The watch winders are not for sale but:
There are plans available so if you want to make one check out this link:

35 seconds in, I realized that I'll be buying a watch winder....
it'll be fun they said 😂
And at the end realized I wasted my time
Curious: do you calculate the system dynamics, etc? I'd be interested in that and design process videos as well as construction!
The cheapest gyroscopic watch winder available for sale I have seen is over $1,500. It seems you don't sell these, but surely for even a quarter of that price you could have a nice business.
That is one fantastic contraption, it's as beautiful as it is useful. The video was a extremely well done and we even got to see you smile. 😁 Four high fives from the U.S.!
Haha thanks!

Hi bro, thanks for your awesome works. I just bought your plan & i have some questions need to be discussed with you. Which channel could i contact with you directly (facebook, whatapps..)? Please email: bichthao11263@gmail.com
Thanks your support in advance.
I'll email you.
Is it for sale? is het te koop?
It's not opening
You can loosen the head of the drill press and turn it 90° so the base won't be in the way of the larger part.
Yes I followed your instructions. And made one thank you. Next project watching a nasa video and build a rocket.
Hello sir! Can you ship to Canada? If you do, how long does it takes for me to receive it? Great work btw.
Wow that thing is sweet mate - well well done! I've been subbed for a while but I will have to watch your videos more often - really cool.
Thanks Rob, that's good to hear! The good news is that starting this week there will be new videos more often.
This is an awesome instructional video, thank you, I plan to give this project a go :) Please don't take this as gratuitous criticism, but I wonder why you set the music track to be louder than the very useful comments you added ? Would it be possible to have some annotations added to your video so that the sound can be muted?
I'll have my brother 3d print that
Cool! show me when it's done. Id love to see it
here is mine: www.whatimade.today/arduino-code-for-a-watchwinder-2/
Has the motor been able to sustain the forces of the design over time or have you had to replace it?
Honestly I do not use it often so I cannot give you a good answer on this
Can you just make me one but don’t paint it, and send for me to assemble, you could sell kits, how much would you charge me
Hi Dr Gunsmith, I don't sell kits unfortunately. Simply because I don't have the tools(like a cnc) to make them at a price that seems reasonable. I do have a build plan on my website for this one. www.thepracticalengineer.com
The plans for this awesome build aren't on the site anymore?
Oops! they are still on the website, but I changed some things and now the link doesn't work.. Fixing it now.

like si te suscribiste por el video de UPDT
You are sitting in front of an Ultimaker 3D printer and you made this out of plywood? Why not design it in CAD and print all the components out of wood filament?
Would you watch that?
@@Thepracticalengineer I spend hours watching my own 3D printer, so ... Maybe.
CONTACT movie (jodie foster). That spinner was invented by Vegan.
15 dollars on AliExpress ...
Hey your plan is not on the page
where can buy this thing
Love to see this done in a nice wood like burly maple or rosewood
Yeeees! That’s so cool! Keep these videos coming 👏🌲🦊🌲
NOT practical, NOT a good engineer. sorry
Lekker bezig pikkesteyn!
Does anyone still have access to the template?
Everyone. its up on my store at: thepracticalengineer.store
Two minutes in I'm wondering how much would he charge to make me one.😁
Good video thanks. I want to buy a product, can I ship it to Korea?
Hey, Awesome that you like it! Unfortunately I do not sell the finished products. I do have a build plan though so you can make one yourself.
I want to buy detailed production
Here you go: thepracticalengineer.store/collections/doe-het-zelf/products/gyro-watchwinder-bouw-plan
You should make a DIY CNC and it works for that kind of build
It's been on my list for a while. But building a good cnc is quite a project. Also I don't have space to put it now :(
@@Thepracticalengineer Ohh well its a problem... I have parts and software about 1 year in a drawer of my workbench, i think i need inspiration XD, regards.
Can I buy the winder itself??
Too complexed
hi do u have stl file of this winder?
Painstakingly builds an ugly winder out of wood, and it doesn't work... 3D printer sitting in the background, doing nothing. If you had simply put your watch in the tumble dryer, it would be wound by now.
❤️
Why click on the video in the first place and “painstakingly” type a useless and factually incorrect comment like that? Good day to you sir Starchaser 👍
I have subscribed and liked it. Your videos are pro ideas; I love it.
Freaking awesome... but why wouldn't you use a fancy wood?
nope nevermind i see why lol. Good job
:)
It would also look really good if you'd make it out of walnut and oil it. Or a simalar wood.
If going fancy schmancy, I'd not screw in (what! Goldy screws on black ply!?) but add magnets on the inside of the base & last cover piece, so it's seamless but also can re-open as needed. Or it could be your jewelry hiding place.
What kind of motor did you use
Its a 12V gear motor S30K from AliExpress

Mooi gedaan, ziet er écht wel cool uit ;-)
Dankjewel! Ja hij is heel satisfying om naar te kijken
@@Thepracticalengineer Klopt helemaal ;-)
I want to buy detailed production
Nope... it doesnt work!!
Do you want to sell it?
Hey, I'm not selling the device itself. I have made a set of build plans so you can make one yourself. They are on my website: WWw.thepracticalengineer.com
cool
Really good video Emiel!
Thanks man! Nice to hear
The DIY watch case is so cool!
Cómo que eres un poco bastante listo
this is genius
Beautifull🤤
Shoulda polished the wood, woulda looked nicer.
It's the Practical Engineer, not the OCD Decorator.
Beautiful
Amazing patience
Some kind of genius, keep going, keep doing.
Thanks!
Nice job emiel looks awesome
Thanks Warren!
Very nice work
It's so hipnotic!
very cool buddy!!
Thanks John!
Vengo de updt
Cool!!! :D
Nice work sir. A brilliant idea.
Thanks Andy!
Very cool and well executed!!!
Thanks!
Stunning artist!
Thanks!
😯😯😯😯😯😯😯 Eres muy creativo
Gracias!
€15 for the plans, nah
Oke
All that bullshit for one watch winder ,amazon o the rescue
GOOD WORK. RESPECT!
I know a lot about watches so I'm gonna make one of these for my quartz watch
It will definitely keep it running! Until the battery of the watch is empty that is..
it isn't an automatic, dont make it
Why do you tubers always make the music WAY louder than the dialogue ? This project is way too difficult and time consuming, just buy one.
Why do people have need to write silly thing like "just by one" under DIY video?
