It is a treat that I realized after watching this that the merry men are some of the least nutty things that are roaming around bretonnia that I know of

I've got to ask, what kind of accent do you have? I've never heard this specific accent in English before, but it works really well with narration like this. :) thanks for the videos!

GW is so damn shameless sometimes. After finally watching and then reading Dune, I also realized that a lot of elements I thought original for 40k were "inspired by" the Dune series.
Actually, if anything, it made some things in 40k make more sense. My head canon decided to make Dune the "origin story" of the Emperor. Imagine the future emperor as young man first wrestling with killing someone else, grappling with visions of the future, and dealing with being the figurehead of a violent religious war all really makes the Emperor's actions in 40k more understandable and sympathetic.
The books especially go into how his prescient abilities displaces him from the present and how seeing the future actually works and why the Emperor would have trouble empathizing with the Primarchs or foreseeing major issues.

I think to be fair to original GW (not modern GW, fuck them) a lot of the early lore was borrowed from other sources with the aim of paying homage, and combining ideas from a bunch of different IPs. This was then overlayed with a coating of grimdark/grimderp.
And then finally modern GW took an IP that never really took itself too seriously, and then proceeded to take itself too seriously.
