Interesting review, Andrew. As an Audi lifer, I bought a new RS4 Vorsprung after a ridiculous lockdown negotiation. Stock, other than the Daytona Grey paint, it was...in RS terms...a bargain. I love it, although this pandemic has severely curtailed getting to know its capabilities properly with less than 1,600 miles covered since picking it up in July. It’s absolutely horrible on fuel consumption on short journeys. I haven’t got more than 28mpg and it’s averaging 25mpg in Individual mode. Couple of minor observations on your narrative - the Vorsprung runs on 20” rims (275 / 30) and list price for this trim, minus extras, is around £84K OTR. As stunning as the RS6 is, for me the RS4 is, pound for pound, the better real world option.
RS6 looks amazing. The silver trim in the RS4 really livened up the cabin & looks more expensive but would show the dirt too quickly I think. My OCD would be in overtime.
I currently own a facelift B9 RS4. I absolutely love it. I also used to have the B8 and I feel very fortunate to have experienced both. I’ve stood next to the new RS6 and it’s a beast. Beautiful to look at. I’m new to your channel but very much enjoying catching up on the content. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻
Two great cars, but their eye watering price makes your R estate a bargain and a sweet spot in VAG range. If VW make a Mk8 R estate on the stretched Octavia platform, it should be more practical too......
Nice review on both cars but I have always been an RS6 fan from the original 4.2 litre v8 bi turbo to the most recent 4.0 litre v8 bi turbo. I was always a BMW fan but loved the Audi RS6.
Would have the rs4, they look very very similar, but I prefer the interior to all those touch screens and the price/practical size etc wins it for me. Still there is the question, this or a m340i? Or a 7.5r estate? With some left over for a weekend manual hoon?

I noticed that too! Guy on the motorbike was about to try and overtake when Andrew dropped the RS6 into 2nd and floored it leaving the bike standing! Don't think Andrew even noticed :)
I think the RS4 is definitely the one...nicer cabin for one! Probably commented before, but it's a shame there's no RS3 Avant - I'd seriously consider that! Having said that, a good used (no way could I justify a brand new one) RS4 could be an almost realistic successor to my Golf R Estate (the Golf 8 doesn't really float my boat & not sure if there'll even BE another R Estate anyway). I'd be interested to know how driving the RS4 compares to your own Golf R estate? I know that's more closely related to the S4 Avant, just wondering if the RS4 is a huge step up?
Agreed but somehow these cars ride very well, especially RS6 on 22". It's running active anti roll which is generally for SUVs to not roll so much, on a lower car it can run very compliant springs because the ARBs will sort it out in the corners. Clever but I guess it's a lot of effort when smaller wheels would have maybe not required all this tech. Looks good though!
Same here, I like the look of older RS6 more, these new ones, the wheels are just too big. Reminds me of those car caricature drawings. Can’t afford either though so it’s all academic
@@smiler921 I have the one before the current RS6. I think the current one has lost some of curves that mine has. It seems to be all sharp slashes on the wheel arches.
One is a monster and the other is a great family pacey workhorse. Like them both for those reason. Pushed for a conclusion then RS6 but overall VFMRS4.
I'd love an RS6. The thing I love is it's presence. When you see the silhouette in the distance, you just know what it is and then you're filled with that excitement about the super car slayer which can eat up monotonous miles as well as windy mountain roads. But that same presence means it's so big. Is it too big for UK roads? People moan about the size of SUVs but get awfully sentimental about the RS6 which for its practicality, is equally un-practical in a Sainsbury's car park. 🤷🏼♂️
@@volkswizard The RS6 interior with the double level dash and the sweeping double cluster angled down to the console looks a different level and makes the RS4 interior look very average, I have to completely disagree there, I'll give you agility but my Rottweiler will be more comfy in the RS6, decent video though.
19.44 may not be want to hear about the RS6 how comfy it is!?! it is for my wife !! as we all know if the wife gives the thumbs up then its smiles all around.
The "black styling pack" is a bit Marmite (for me anyway). If you choose a lighter or more vibrant colour (like the RS4) it looks great! On dark colours and black, line accent is diminished, and it's too: "I'm Batman!" (in a husky voice).
Great video! It doesn't matter that you have gotten to review the cars a little bit later. Your style of review is what matters to your subscribers and your opinions. That is what I think, at any rate. I would agree with you that the the RS4 is the better overall choice. That said, I have never driven one. I just get the feeling that the RS6 is unwieldy.
I always find it bewildering how people can 1) afford to buy one of these cars in the first place and 2) afford to run it too (especially at 20mpg). It’s a colossal amount of money. However, the RS4 would be my pick (for the lottery win), because it looks a bit more low key, so to speak, especially having seen just how wide an RS6 is on the road. Oh, and plus I prefer the switches and dials you can actually grab and turn on the RS4, compared to the touchscreen of the RS6. I have a mk7 golf and have been put off completely on the mk8 because of this fact.
No time to be so picky on these kinds of days with people waiting for the cars and limited places to film which are quiet. Thanks for the feedback though
My stock B9.5 RS4 Carbon Black does a standing 0-62 in 3.4 secs. Ive owned a big V8 (GLC63S) recently and whilst it made a great noise, the RS4 and its V6 are infinitely better drives in every way. So i cant say about the RS6 specifically but, I just dont see the point.

Apparently RS3 is very late 2021 so I'll try and do S3 saloon before then :)
