I remember when my father upgraded my Pentium 3 With Nvidia Riva TNT2, what a fantastic experience was to play SHOGO, System Shock 2 and Half Life 1, once in a lifetime stuff.
TNT2 Pro was a serious card, competed extremely well with VooDoo 2 + VooDoo 3 and had more longevity than the V3. Back then I had a VooDOo 1 with a Matrox Mystique for the 2D card. In the beginning of 1999, I aquired four Dell Dimension workstation machines as payment for a job I did. Each of them had a TNT2 Ultra inside (a Viper V770). They were surprisingly good! Played Quake III OSP with decent frames, chunked through Max Payne and System Shock 2. The TNT2 M64, however ... well, that sucked.
Aww yisss, I played Gothic 1 on a TNT2 first. Then I got a Geforce 2 and those crisp textures on the Old Camp's armors were incredible at the time. Half Life 2 is mind blowing though.
I had a Riva TNT2 32MB and always had driver problem and blue screens coz it was oem :( when i upgraded my card to Geforce 2 MX 400 64Mb, then Asus Geforce4 4200Titanium 128Mb I was reborn 😄 I experienced the best graphics on ATI radeon 3870 256bit 512mb, then it broke down and i gave up gaming forever ☺️
Do anybody know why the game Hitman Codename 47 makes this texture bug.... and why the performance isn'tw ell with TNT 2 Pro? I got bad performance in Deus EX 1... althputh this game don't requires a good graphic card the same texture bug issue i also got with Geforce 2/3.... so its a problem of Windows I guess but why? How can I fixed it? And in GPU-Z O read 2x AGP but that cannot be... I know that TNT 2 Pro has 4x AGP maybe that could be the reason?
I had this card in 2001. Then one day, my friend secretly stole and swap this card to other low end card without me knowing. I didnt realised much. Because i dont play games. Just watching movie and play mp3. One day i installed aida32 software and noticed wrong card name. Confused and opened the cpu case, and confirmed card changed. Lower spec. He should shame to himself.
U should add Battlefield 1942 to your test base, that game was popular and fun, people still in the multiplayer to this day... Other game is Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed. That game was in my opinion the best NFS.
@@namenames1216 It's not that simple, GTA 3 doesn't render everything at once, only what's around you, not much more than a Half Life 2 level. Half Life 2 is also 3 years newer and had groundbreaking physics and graphics for it's time while GTA 3 was mediocre in those departments, even for it's time. The reason GTA 3 runs worse is because it was poorly optimized, Vice City's optimization was much better and on some GPUs it could run twice as fast as GTA 3
Back in a time where the only people who knew what "framerate" meant were a handful of competitive FPS players. Everyone else gamed at sub 30fps most of the time thinking it runs perfectly :)
That's a load of BS, everyone knew what framerate was back then and it was just as relevant as it is now. If what you're saying is true then why did Fraps exist? why were there multiple variants of cards with different levels of performance? why did 3dfx advertise the Voodoo 3 cards as being faster than others on the market at the time? and most of all, where's your proof for that statement?
@@the_motherfucker Had many friends with Playtstations in the 90s. No one spoke of framerates. What I'm saying is back in those days people thought 20-30fps were fine. Even though they didn't know the actual framerate. In my country if you had Fraps in 99' it meant you had internet, which only a tiny percentage had access to.
@@Nebulous_. While today aren't my favorite years for gaming, there's still tons of good games being released nowadays too, both with good and not so good graphics. The first step to realizing that is to check out some studios and genres you may not be familiar with, while many studios you liked back then have changed for the worst, they aren't the only ones, there are still many others out there, including many formed in recent times. And while there may not be many games from the genres you're familiar with that catch your attention, along with the previous advice, try playing some games of other genres too, even some you may not have thought you'd like previously It's also a massive assumption to think that a game doesn't have good gameplay just because it has good graphics, it's absolutely possible for a game to have both
I had an TNT2 64,great memories
M64 was a piece of crap with its 64 bit memory

I love the fact that so many people are nostalgic for this card, or any tech that by today's standards is pretty ancient.

Fuck yeah my first GPU ever, remember playing diablo 2 and Midtown Madness 2 using it.
I just found a PC in the trash with this GPU in it. Still works!
This was a great idea. Good work on your testing!

I played Mafia 1 on that card, but never even knew about Warcraft 3 at that time, only WC II, and it ran Unreal tournament 2004, but with lag
My first card was called the Riva TNT2 64 Maxi Gamer Cougar, and it was awesome
i remember when i switched from voodoo to riva tnt2 i noticed film grain effect in my games which i liked.
deep nostalgia 😪
wow never have that card but see it on my friend pc before, that amazing improved for that times!
Just come across your channel. You should do more videos bud, there's tons out here who enjoy old video cards 👍
Quite impresive results.. :)

With such old gpu, maybe you should focus on games from 2000 and earlier. Maybe include Aquanox on every gpu as a comparisson
I have a TNT2vanta, it is still working, oldy but goody
ah, back when 20 fps was considered "playable"
my first gpu in 1999
So the ASRock 775Dual-880Pro has a AGP 3.0, compatible at 1.5 volt. Great !
Why stretch 4:3 resolutions to 16:9 though?
i remember saving up a lot of money as a kid to buy this gpu
what about now
Hi!! Please can you tell me where can I get the drivers from the tnt2?? Thanks!
Legacy drivers for all previous nVidia cards can be downloaded from their website
I see you have 4x AGP but I have the same card and it shows that i only have 2x AGP although 4x AGP Mode is activatet in the Bios. Why?
I remember running Hitman (only the first one), Battlezone 2, Alice and many others. I actually don't remember any game not working well.
Its works with win10/11?

there isn't Hardware T&L yet so this performs like a Voodoo 5 5500
IIRC TNT2 was actually a Voodoo 3 competitor.
Intel hd 4000 salute to you
I have that graphic and i remember i cant play call of duty 1
Huh, didn't realize half of these classics can even run on Sub-Geforce 256 cards...
Source engine runs on anything
Tell that to my Atom
Except for the modern source games
@Gaming York Which atom?

The TNT2 is simply too slow for 32-bit gaming. In 32-bit it is around 30-50% slower than in 16-bit.
so GTA3 runs like shit on TNT2 but HL2 works like charm?
GTA3 open world , hl2 room shooter

Wtf 4 mb ? Go Play Mario 😂😂💔

it only takes one gpu to beat all 4 from 3dfx
Nothing worse than 4:3 games in wide-screen...
0,5% Vram from modern Games, lol
Y'all know why we here. Its because of that old pc we have and try to run game on it

why?

That's over 2 decades newer. This was also an important series of cards and your 4090 wouldn't exist without it

New games graphics are great but aren't as fun as these old titles.

Your GPU is 2 decades newer than this, of course it's more powerful. I hope you realize that your 2070 wouldn't exist if not for this
