True a prophetic voice for our age I can hear my ancestors the original people's of Texas cry out. The time to heal the earth and all it's people is now .Let this song be that prayer of wholeness and reconciliation
Grammy nomination...is. in. order. So proud of this brilliant talent. Shine girl shine. I wish some native American soul could be incorporated into this. Same tears. Same abuse. Black people were taken from their native land. Native Americans were taken from their land and THEIR land was taken. Rhiannons music is powerful and beautiful. Truly magnificent.
My daughter chose this song along with Billie Holidays ‘39 recording of Strange Fruit for her final highscool assignment. White as snow and 19 years old from Denmark. You touch a lot of people. What a powerful song/video. Thank you
She really is an antidote to the Nashville Sound and Bro Country that dominates Country music right now.
How could anyone start watching this and not carry on until the end. The message and power of the music, voice and dance is just phenomenal. May this song be around for people to hear for eternity.
Hearing her the first time a few years ago completely changed my taste in music. Her voice speaks to me in ways no other has. Her powerful message is needed and appreciated. Keep the faith Miss Giddons, we need your voice, not just singing.
Thank you all for fighting the good fight! Bravo!!!
During this pandemic I have had the opportunity to enjoy Rhiannon Giddens musical performances. Whether it is classical, spiritual, folk or without description she has provided some of the finest performances we have witnessed. Such a moving body of work. Cry No More should be a shoe-in for a Grammy Nomination in whatever category you choose.
She does opera style too!
Agreed!
Absolutely stunning and powerful! What a fabulous group of Musicians ! What a strong and clear message!
Thank you !!
These voices can't be heard enough.
That cellist is outstanding!
i fell in love at first sight!
Gorgeous, powerful, haunting. And what dancing!
That Cellist was unbelievable. So powerful.
Lately I've been feeling like the world is going to shit. Like everything is getting even worse than it was before.
I know it's my depression talking when I wonder why I even keep going. But a part of me is still too stubborn to give up so I will stay strong and see the better day that we built for ourselves.
Hi shark. Some of those feelings are spot on. Half the world sick inside over it.
I am.not coping well with thr treat of covid. Dont care if I look funny in shield.
Its all hard and each one of us I reacting on some.level.
I talk to friends message
Try not to be afraid just be careful
Keep that stubborn and don’t give up. Keep filling yourself with the good, like this music! God bless you and our world.
First time I saw this young woman I was fascinated by her talent. The second time she scared me. Then I saw her play (I think) five instruments. On Ken Burn's documentary she was just another real person. Somebody tell me, is she not the most talented woman in North America? For the record: I have grandchildren older than her, so I've seen my share of talent.
First her voice & storytelling drew me, then her sheer musical talent, then her scholarship & credentials, then the voice she has used to such powerful extent over the last several months in particular. Every one of her songs leaves me riveted, not wanting to blink because it feels disrespectful to take my gaze for even a second from such power and ability. She is amazing.
I saw her for the first time on Nashville, and her voice blew me away. Then in Ken Burns documentary I began to get a glimpse of the breadth of her talent. Now I’ll follow her anywhere. This is such a powerful piece!
There is a great video with her dancing too. Is there anything she can't do?
exquisite - this women keeps breaking me...
Absolutely one of the most powerful songs I have heard
Thank you Rhiannon for your message.
I just discovered this incredibly talented woman. Such much to unravel & appreciate. So much to contemplate.
I left my home in Colorado 17 years ago to teach and work abroad, mostly in Africa. I fell in love with East Africa over 20 years ago. I still live here, now in Ethiopia. I prefer Africa for many reasons, the main being I am not surrounded by racist Americans an can appreciate the people for who they are without that curse. I love what she communicates. American would be so much, much less, so shallow without the contributions of African peoples then the African Americans. So valuable all she communicates to so many.
At last a hymn to humanity
Excellent! You won't carry the burden alone. It wouldn't be right.
How am I just now seeing this??? So poignant even three years later! Rhiannon is such a gift
Truly one of the most amazing artists I've ever had the pleasure to see live, the passion and power that Rhiannon Giddens puts into her music it takes your breath away. Together with this group of performers this song is filled wth pure emotion.
A rising tide of justice. Amen, Rhiannon, amen.
Thank you Rhiannon, and all the artists! This Louisvillian is sitting here in tears. No Justice No Peace. For Breonna, and us all. Breonna'sLaw, 8Can'tWait and CampaignZero are all good reforms and outlets creating change. Black Lives Matter.
@Mohamed Li SilvaNo matter the skin color, when our sons don't cry out for their mothers while being choked out by law enforcement...when our daughters don't live in fear, always looking over their shoulder, feeling like prey, hunted by privileged men THEN all lives will matter. In the meantime, try being a kinder more compassionate human. Scroll on. If I need your opinion, I'll ask for it.
Holy crap this is beautiful and powerful.
Jeremy Rhoads Exactly....
I apparently can cry some more. That was intense!
OMG !!! Absolutely wonderful, powerful, beautiful and true. BRILLIANT !!!!!!
Awestruck by this masterpiece

Rhiannon Giddens has grown into a performer of huge stature and her work during the current pandemic has been masterful especially with regard to the current racial " debate" in the USA.
A true superstar innevery respect.
Well said!
I don't even get why it is a "debate". Crazy.
It’s a debate due to our systemic racism. So much brainwashing in our politics and society for so many years that people often honestly don’t realize what they are actually supporting. It’s like a detox program has to happen before any real discussion. This detox of hearts and minds must continue after the election, regardless of outcome.
Strong, wonderful, intelligent and moving piece. Thank you.
If I could get my Mom to tell her story here, she is a symbol of survive and thrive....
I just don't have words for this.
A singing angel for our time
Great cello solo too.
Video of the year 2020. No insult intended.
I just found this girl on RUclips. The second she started singing, my heart skipped a beat.
Woman. 😉
Breathtaking!
Quite beautifully choreographed and orchestrated! Rhiannon Giddens, you are amazing & beautiful!
How could so many people be so isolated and yet so unified? Thank you.
Should have 82 million views please everyone out there tell all you know that this is a very special musical artist and song
We used this for worship today at Covina Community Church. Thank you for sharing your music, pain, and hope.
Oh, that I had some talent to sing this song. People know that not my voice, but my heart and soul are with you.
Oh my oh my! My eyes are damp with the emotional connection to your song and video! It is challenging and so full of hope!
Last night I watched the Presidential debate.
Thank you! This song, this performance is so amazing and heartfelt and affirming. Rhiannon Giddens and her heart and her art are what we need right now.
Politics make me despair. This art and this affirmation gives me room for my soul to soar.
Thank you thank you thank you a thousand times.
Let's make a difference. It begins with you. And me. And the vast number of Americans who want a better world for everyone but especially to ensure justice for those who have gone without for far too long.

Awesome visuals and sound. Gives another feel for what's going on in our country these days.
Not quite sure why I'm crying (how ironic is that?). I guess it's just the sheer power and emotion that this phenomenal lady projects. That cellist was amazing too.
Powerful, compelling, timely, brilliant. Thank you Rhiannon and friends!
Woah... oh my gosh. I’m in tears. So beautiful and so strong and so inspiring. Thank you Rhiannon and to all involved in this production 💞

WOW!
Empowering to every black woman across the globe. A thank you to Rhiannon, a powerful artist and to all the participants of all genders and all colors, for their talent and support - As a former dancer myself, my heart is additionally moved by the young woman, A real woman, her performance and the choreography/or to the choreographer. I grew up in an activist, artistic family; as Paul Robeson told my father - “Let them sing your song”- Rhiannon, they will... Adrienne Belafonte Biesemeyer
This kind of thing gives me hope. It's very difficult to have these days. I'm not talking about the pandemic. We will solve that. I'm talking about truth. It is terrible how so many people really fear the truth. Let's get it all out in the open. Peace to everyone.
Yes we matter. Particularly enjoyed the cellist. Wonderful tribute for Breonna. Thank you.
