    Michael is right. You learn a lot about yourself when moving to VN. The challenges , ups and downs helps you to grow as a person. His advice is correct about moving to VN. Just do it as the longer you wait the harder it will be to do it due to commitments in the west. One thing I noticed about VN is that compared to the West the social dynamics are much more complex. In the west life is like a checkers board but in VN it is like 3d chess game. Vietnamese people are on another level with social intelligence if that is what you call it. In the west everything seems so simple. But when you come to VN, you suddenly struggle to understand all the situations you are in. You don't know who is good or bad or what someone's intentions are. In the west you know based on clothing and way of talking who a person is but when you arrive in VN you don't know how to judge every character.

      @DevineOne Месяц назад

      @@oioioioioioioioio In that case, I would highly recommend Mars for you haha. Well in VN if you want a simple life then don't start a business for one or go there if you need to make money. And stay away from the tourist areas. Don't get me wrong, the people in VN is what I miss when living abroad and why I want to return to VN. But if you want to live like a hermit then VN is not the place as being alone is just about impossible in VN unless you live in the jungle away from any village. You will be invited, messaged and called everyday to join someone somewhere. At least that is what happened to me.

    • @user-dn8tj4pp4q
      @user-dn8tj4pp4q Месяц назад

      the social intelligent as you called it is horrible, its tiring to be on edge all the f times, and at the end of the day its all the about the money and where you are on the social ladder, a lot of these guys who are going back and staying is only because they feel more respected in vietnam due to the language skill but this thinking is quite shallow and as they dont realise the trade offs, our parents moved overseas for many reasons one of them is to run away from the sh!t hole to give them better opportunities and they are moving back because back in third world countries they feel more important , something that they could not have back home?? but sure each to their own, but remember why we left in the first place they took our land our homes and drove us out, the day that we go back is the day we make them pay for it

    • @DevineOne
      @DevineOne Месяц назад +2

      @@user-dn8tj4pp4q The world is changing. The west is going down hill and VN is coming up. VN is one of the fastest growing economies. People come to VN as they are tired of the west and they can live a more quality lifestyle due to lower cost of living. They aren't heavily taxed like in the west. People feel more free in VN. Unless you live in California then VN weather is better if you don't like winters. I would of said if you like a very predictable life then live in the west but now that is even changing with lots of injustice to the citizens due to loss of values in leadership and dictator like leaders. The west is importing the 3rd world and the people are paying for it. Look at the zombie cities and homeless camps in US. Life in VN can be as laid back and carefree as you like but also if you want you can really challenge yourself as in business. It is highly competitive and cut throat. Many people will charge prices enough to pay for food today and thus undercut everyone else. what you mention is a segment of society but there are many genuine people in VN and I have some of my best friends in VN.

    It's a great interview. I had a reverse experience when I moved from Vietnam to Regina, Saskatchewan and I can relate to lots of things he talked about. Living in a very white-dominant environment, I experienced racism as an adult as well, most of the time it was subtle racism (microaggressions). But then I've learned and grown from that. One of the causes is that white people can be vulnerable as well, there are fears behind their discrimination.
    It's nice to see both worlds and embrace them both! Challenges do help you learn more about yourself and grow!

I thought since we were Chinese and so proud, why did we not going back to China? The truth was Vietnam without Communism was much better. We were there to stay and had good life. We left because we could not tolerate the stupid, tyrannical policy applied to everyone living there. True! The situation is different but they are still communist.

    So I'm challenging this argument because I was a minority growing up in Canada as well a minority in the fact that not due to my skin color but my nationality and not being able to speak English language when I arrived. I am considerably older than you appear to be I won't guess to know your age but that's not important what is important is that people will look upon others that are different and challenge that or be racist of that. Theu come from the same old cookie cutter rutine of life and all tgey know is what's being told to them by parents piers and society in general being propigated by our tv or social media. I grew up being bullied because of anything different olive skin. Nutella sandwiches. My inability to say the words properly in rnglish . The list goes on. I got tired of being laug;ed at due to being frustrated from this behaviour from others and lack of respect from others. So yes i would get angered and take fisical action when pushed. Not good at all. What i realized in the end is my parents got an opertunity to prosper raise a family give me and my siblings to live a good life better one that was being offered by our home nation and our difference is our strength. Remember that and celebrate that because the rest will not serve us

      The ability to prosper in the West was only possible because of the US (and countries friendly with it - Canada, the UK, etc.) enslaved other countries through their USD global reserve system. The discrimination is a by-product of that. The fact that your parents had the courage to move to a foreign country far away should be celebrated. But, we should differentiate that with a Western country giving you the opportunity. The Western country only gave people that opportunity because of stealing it from other countries through theft and war.

      I’m assuming you’re from Iraq or Lebanon? No disrespect but there is a big difference for Asians. For Lebanese people they have no country to back to. It’s a war torn country full of corruption and everyone just wants to leave.
      But for Asian is completely diffferent. Korea and China already surpassed China in quality of life. Vietnam will eventually surpass Canada. When Asian immigrants came to Canada in the 80s and 90s, they left countries that were poor.
      But no, just take a look at Toronto subway and then compare it to Shanghai or Seoul. No comparison. They aren’t winning in Asia, they already won. Canada isn’t as bad as people say, but what’s obvious is things are going down hill. The current generation is poorer than the last, which is the first time that has ever happened.
      Meanwhile, places like Vietnam are getting better every year. Korea and China already surpassed Canada in every way. Vietnam is next, same with Thailand and Malaysia.
