    I was in Lagos last November and from Mile 2 through under bridge to LASU gate area was terrible. Along Alakija old ojo road through Abeleado was filled with tankers. The newly constructed roads were blocked and loads of diversions. Coming to barracks heading to Agric was another road block and diversion. If between November 2019 and today they have cleared the whole road then they have done well. The trafic was something else because of the road works. In some cases I have walk from Under Bridge to Iyana-Oba or LASU gate to ease the stress because of the trafic. The road construction started as far back in 2010 and they are still within the same area. I could recall when they rumoured that there was a tree at Orile that was bleeding and crying when bulldozer wanted to remove the tree and loads of stories then. The road congestion even increased the transport fare which made it worse.

    I can't believe that this road is still under construction! If I am not mistaken this road was started by ex Gov.Fashola, in his early term in office around 2008 to be precise and still under construction.
    May God help Nigeria.

    Good job, however citizens have their part to play like petroleum trucks must be made to stop parking on the road, also, sweeping of the roads to remove accumulation of sand, would go a long way to increase the longevity of the infrastructure: roads

If they remove them, without adequate provision, again, it will affect the production of goods and services, delivering of finished products etc

  • @ZepinOrunmila
    @ZepinOrunmila 4 года назад +4

    Progress is being made, however;
    1) The habit of trading along or around spaces adjacent to roadway needs to be curbed. Not only does this make the whole area look chaotic and unattractive, the by-product of the waste it generates leads to clogging of drainages, this practice also tends to slow down traffic. On such a major expressway, there should be a structure free zone of a minimum distance of a least 1000m on either side of the road.
    2) There are just too many tankers attempting to ply road at the same time something needs to be done about this, it’s sheer madness.
    3) Okadas need to be regulated
    4) Hopefully on completion of the project, adequate road signage, lane marking and lighting would be have been given due attention.
    5) Plant grass and trees along the road side

    Many work needs to be done. The Government should invest in research and development and also use population projection in planning their infrastructures. This tinny roads will not be useful in 10years time as traffic will continue to increase with an unconventional and uncontrollable population growth due to lack of family planning and migrations, expecting more from the West African regional level due to free movement and visa free policies of the Government. Lagos State will be directly impacted by the visa free policy of the Government and either positively or negatively depends on the planning and level of readiness of the Eko Koni baje State Government.
    Lagos State should plan 50 years ahead if they do not intend to spend more for same development. There should be an underground road, rails subways, tunnels which can be useful for either tanker drivers and or railway tracks. More so overhead rail stations will reduce traffic from Orile to Badagry, Costain to Mile 12, Ojota to Ikorodu, Victoria Island to Epe, etc and increase State Government income and also create millions of employment.....

      There are a lot of issues in Nigeria that I don't think even 1 million years from now that it will be solved
      I left Nigeria over 18 years ago and when I came home - I was very disappointed
      Garbage all over, pollution from cars and generators is # killer
      Even the airport is an embarrassment- trust me and mark my word - I don't see progress for Nigeria and Nigerians needs to stop disturbing God
      Imagine no electricity or good road -
      I must say Nigeria is a shame country

Build more pedestrian crossings, drainages to avoid flooding, extend the metro line to Badagry, move those roadside markets at least 100 meters away from the road, build permanent modern shops with facilities like toilets, firefighters and police. Lagos state government needs to plan 20 years ahead, because by 2050, Lagos will be the largest city in the world. No grudges against Baba Sanwo Olu personally, I know Nigerians are so used to the "half bread is better than none" attitude, but this is so heartbreaking. Over 10 years this work was launched and Okokomaiko is no where in sight. Such a major road that connects to the entire Atlantic coastline neigbouring cities and Countries all the way to Ivory Coast. Between, the roads are too narrow for such a corridor and being executed carelessly with no scrupulous controls, no meticulous dedication and fervent passion for perfection as is obtainable in most climes. And so help US GOD!

    2yrs later the road will get galloping,due to heavy trailer and tanker, The only solution in Nigeria ,is to reform our government.things are not properly placed to their positions.
    That is the problem they facing in Nigeria.

    Naija needs laws and people who carry out the laws properly, the roads need lines and traffic signs and people need to learn what they mean and work for, traffic lights need to work and respected. Maintenance is also necessary because you can build all you want but if you dont maintain then it's a waste. People wonder why the western world looks good, look at their laws and the quality of what is being build and how they maintain them then you will understand.

    Those people asking for the government to re-open the border are traitors and they should be dealt with seriously. Is it not someone that is alive that will buy car tyres, etc? Why don't they go and establish their business in the areas affected by Boko Haram? Nigeria has a seaport in Lagos state, what stops those so-called 'across the nations' businesses from using our seaports for their goods. There is something fishing about them. Our borders are closed and they will permanently remain closed. Live with it.
