I attended St. Catherine's Military School in Anaheim 7-8 grades (boarding school) with Don Jr. His bed was next to mine. We were best friends, but I lost touch after graduating. His brother Alan was a year or two behind us. Was just reminiscing and found this post while googling him to see if he is still around. We will both be 80, next year. How time flies.
I doubt there is a bigger fan of the Mills Brothers than me. I am sure many people have this feeling. I was raised listening to Donald, Harold, & Harry lay down some of the finest vocal tracks of all-time. I would love nothing better than to thank Harold, Harry, and Donald for their contribution to music history. I wish I had all of their concerts on video!
I went to school with Don Jr. He was a few years ahead of me. He had a younger brother Alan who was one of our cheerleaders. Donald Sr. used to come by the school. I met him on several occasions. Good guy.
John and Elmer, Basin St. Blues of Mills Brothers is my old favorite song which I have been singing myself since 1960. I love trombone sound of father Don and I used to copy it. Kuni
SpringfieldGuy, I guess I can only agree with you as hard as it was to get two brothers together was like pulling teeth. plus I literally never get to play guitar in our show. I'd say it was just ok if you compare us to their father and uncles. Pale? Hum?
Elmer Hopper Great song! I'm really glad John and you continue to perform for the Mills Brothers! it's nice to see their music will continue to live on! Keep up the great work!

Donald Mills Jr. sounds like his father! Great performance. Bravo!
When Don was in high school he had a beautiful head of hair. He was a pretty good athlete too.

Not bad, but a pale imitation of the original brothers, whose music was absoutely magical.
