Hi, I downloaded the map from the website and plugged & downloaded to my 2020 v60 but it does not do anything after that. It just went back to nav not activated. Could you help?
To update maps in your volvo the car must come with navigation built in, I suspect yours does not which therefore the maps won't work. Not all volvo v60, v90, x60, xc40, x90 has built in navigation apparently. So to use it you must connect your own phone to the car that can then use navigation.

@@bilalabuzaitoon6098 so on the early years like your vehicle the way to update the maps we had to install 3 part DVD to download the update the DVD would have to be purchased from the dealer. Then around 2015 Volvo came out with a Software that the dealer can install to change the maps update process from needing DVD to update using a USB thumb drive that you can do on your own.
If that software have not been done yet then you can not update your maps using a USB until that Software is done. And it must be done by a dealer or a shop that have that capability.
My 16’ Xc90 just came back from the dealership with the 100k miles service done. With the addition of a software and Nav upgrade. On my way to work the Sensus touchscreen went blank on me mid drive. I turned the car off waited a minute before starting back up. Nothing happened. Still a blank screen. What could of caused this issue and is it fixable?

Hi, I have a 2019, S90 T6. When i switch to "eco mode", the only difference i notice is that with my foot off the accelerator, the speedometer indicates "coasting" Does that mode also disable the turbo or super charger, or any other functions? also, I occasionally would receive map update notices and would update with a flash drive, I no longer get any update notices. I'm thinking that Volvo has discontinued updating the Sensus maps for free!?

You can download the maps on a USB and then download the voice on your computer and then copy paste the voice files on the USB and when you plug in the vehicle it will install the voice command first then the maps.
@TheVolvoGuy I managed to solve problem. My USB thumb drive was using GPT partition layout which caused the car not detecting it. Once I converted it to MBR and connected it to the car then it said straight away that it is installing the map.
Hi, I have an issue updating the maps. I don’t know if it is my usb ports, flash drive or settings that I am not doing correctly. Android auto or apple car works so USB port seems to be okay. I tried many different combinations. What I did was using three different flash drives formatted to fat32 and downloaded map onto flash drive but it won’t recognize when I plug it in. Any ideas of what I am doing wrong? I tried both USB ports as well. Can you help?
@@shlomobalanka1111 I never found out lol. I assume you can have the dealer side load it for a cost. I haven't bothered since I use Apple CarPlay for navigation anyway.

I had the same issue in my 2017 XC90 and ended up taking it to the dealership instead of downloading the update to my own USB like I've done previously.

I have another question.. i have updated the sistem a few times now during last year and the autopilot is not working anymore at above 150 Km/h - now its reduced to 139km/h I find it scandalous to change this via an update befor it worked up to 160km/h
First for the storage am not aware of any way to add more. The voice control have to be done with a dealer or if you send me a 64 gb USB drive I can load the latest maps and voice commands for you. The autopilot or pilot assist does not get updated remotely as far as I know so that might of happened when the dealer did the last update on the control modules.
Question download is complete but it now stuck in the loading!!! It’s been loading for a few hours now. Does that seem right? Can I get out of the car?
Hi, Not sure what you mean by internet maps.. but the vehicle navigation gets updated via usb stick the maps gets downloaded from the PC to the usb stick then to the vehicle
@@TheVolvoGuy I mean some of the models equiped just only for internet Maps if you want activate a regular navigation I have to go to the local dealer and pay for the activation

Your Volvo might need a S/W update to the system before it can accept the USB update, they use to use DVD's on the older models and when the did the switch we had to update the S/W in the system For the USB to be accepted.

I have a U.S. version 2020 xc40. However, I received it while stationed in Germany so it came with EU maps. I was told to go to the download center and follow the prompts to save the U.S. map to my USB. I did that, however, when I plug it into my car, there is not prompt to save the maps. Any suggestions?!
If you have the correct maps on the USB stick when you plug the USB stick a message will pop up asking if you would like to download the maps hit yes and it will download the maps.
I just did maps on an 2020 XC40 last week it had German maps. So as long as you have the correct S/W package it should go in no problem. Also after the maps are done downloading you have to lock your vehicle outside for about 10-15 minutes.
@@jasongreen1021 when you update your maps it will have the new changes if your dealer moves or a new Dealer shows up. You can find all the Volvo dealers around you on you you navigation POI
You can have 64 gb for both. If you do it your self this is how I do it. Download the maps directly to the usb stick. Then download the voice command to the computer hard drive and copy paste the voice on the usb stick.
Mail me a USB stick 64 gb and I can load the maps and mail it back to you. Or you can load the maps on the USB stick your self and the load them to your volvo.

On that year you have to make sure that the software on the ICM/IHU has been done to transfer the system for DVD updates to USB

Unfortunately when it's not activated you have to go with a dealership to get it done there.

No not really I used scandisk
Exactlly the same problem. Tried with different formating types also.
I ended up downloading the entire North American update to a large drive and then the car detected it.

Can I update my v90 to the latest software myself, I just updated the maps and it went smoothly thanks for this awesome video
The Software for the modules can not be updated unless you have VIDA with an active subscription.

No, it does not disable the turbo or the super charger, and as far as the maps, it is still for free. I am not sure why it does not show on your end.
Hey, I was wondering about how often should spark plugs be replaced on my 2008 s80 Volvo?
What engine you have Si6 or v8?
If you have Si6 engine the spark plugs are due every 75k miles.

Is your thumb drive in exFAT or FAT32 or NTFS? Since i tried doing this with exFAT on USB thumb drive size 128GB but car refused to detect it.

My 2020 XC90 didn’t come with navigation. Is there a way to side load it?

Unfortunately you will have to take it to the dealer and they would have to force to stop and reset the download in the VCM.

No it takes about 15-20 minutes using the USB drive.

Once the download is done you want to leave the USB stick in the vehicle and lock the vehicle outside for couple of hours.

You have to know if the vehicle is prepped for navigation you would have to ask the dealership.

2008 have to be purchased but xc90 17 and up will have updates almost every month. But am not sure about russia and europe
