Duuude, those things gave me fucking nightmares. It only got worse when a friend of my dad's had a small traffic accident and told me the cuts/holes in the side of his van were from those things. No sleep after that.
Literally the best scary movie I've ever seen. Used to watch this a lot when I was 12 and god it was soo scary that it traumatised me for life lol. Now I'm 33 and I still lose my heart beat when I hear this soundtrack. Scary movies will never be as good as this one.

God, I love the '70s! It was one Hell of a time, and I was barely alive at the time. 1979 was a good year for Horror/Thriller/Sci-Fi movies: Phantasm, Alien, Dracula, Nosferatu, Love At First Bite (great Horror comedy/parody), Prophecy... The music (and the soundtracks) was great, too. I'd like to see this in the theaters, since I've never really seen it.

I was up late one night Watching this Great Movie - I was sat watching it alone downstairs on my own - The tall guy had just walked down the street in slo-mo - And a close up of the guys face filled the TV screen - And didn't the electric cut out - I was sat down stairs in the dark for a millisecond - I never moved as fast in my life ! - up stairs haha! I woke our John up so I was not on my own in the dark !!!
I Did buy the set of Dvds a few years ago - They came stored in chrome ball with the two zigzag blades Ace ! - It goes nicely with my ' Evil dead' Dvd in a flesh covered book set In my show case !
I got the Whole collection here in my Shelf, i saw it in a Second-hand shop for 5€ and just bought it, never would´ve thought it would turn out so great, really good Horror

@@vincentpaul835 I think the rating system took hold partially as the result of kids being traumatized by movies like "Night of the Living Dead." And speaking of traumatized, a lot of people felt "Jaws" should have been rated R instead of PG.
Just rewatched this. This is definitely a classic that deserves all the praise it gets. Yes, the acting is bad and the screenplay is basic, but the elements of the horror are just perfect and well done. Phantasm II doesn't hold a candle to this one. I can't remember the other sequels, so next week is Phantasm III.
Finally watched this after a lifetime of watching and loving genre movies. It's easily one of the best and in a place of it's own. More like dark suburban fantasy than simple horror.

I saw this maybe three times, each time at a Drive-in a couple of times on a double-feature. It has that B-movie feel that actually adds to the eerie capability to scare the devil out of you, ala Night of the Living Dead! I did not realize it had been re-mastered. A B-movie classic!

I was born in 76 and as a little kid in the early 80s this movie scared the living shit out of me. I remember having a nightmare where that fucking ball was chasing me around my house and every time I got to a door outside that old dude was waiting for me. But then I watched it as a adult and the number of goofy moments made me laugh. Like the very start the kid rides his dirtbike through the cemetery and instead of leaving a single tire track you can tell he's sitting in the back of a truck way up off the ground and you see two tire tracks behind him as he goes.
I love this movie. When I was younger. Me my brothers and sister. I think couple more of family members watched this movie one night. We was so scared we all sleep in the same bed that night
