They've had mylar bags for a long time. At least since I saw them in the early 1980s. But there were only the 4 mil kind ( I think they were called "Snugs" now called "Archives") with the open top. And they were expensive. Then they came out with (maybe in the late 80s or early 90s?) the 1 mil mylar bags. Those are the crappy crinkly ones you remember. I discovered the 2 mil "Mylites" in the early 2000s and bought a bunch of them. They're my favorite. They make the 1.5 mil ones too but I don't like them as much.

What is the difference between MyLite half-back and full-back boards?

    • @DONCOMICBOOKJUNKIE1971

Half back are a lot thinner and full back are basically a little thicker than a normal backing board. Thanks for watching

Great breakdwown don ... But you need two bcw boards to be the equivalent of a full back. I hope you buy in bulk from bcw directly. it's much cheaper that way and at the amount you buy you should qualify for free shipping. I order via egerber and it is a bit of a pain to call them up but it's fairly straightforward. The killer is shipping costs but I'm basically at 34 cents for a standard mylite 2 and standard full back which is pretty good. I still buy poly bags and boards since I get so many dollar books and for my runs etc.

Just a reminder, the backings from eGerber are the only that pass the proof of quality acid free etc. Other fails, search in a forum for.

I shop at and order from Columbia Sports card as well . Not sure how long ago you have purchased from them but they no longer sell BCW . They have switched to MAX Pro products. Along with E GERBER and some ultra pro . You may have to find another place for your BCW needs . :)

I mean it's a snug fit but you will be able to get them out. Go to a silver age bag if you like a little more wiggle room

I was told by my comic book store owner who is a comic book artist/writer and contributor to overstreet comic book price guide. He advised against because they can yellow and ruin your comic over time.
