I had a friend- I met him in kindergarten. We stayed friends into college. He played Jojo in our production in fifth grade. He passed about a month or two ago and I miss him so much.
I'm so sorry for your loss. When I was 18 or 19 I found out that a guy I had gone to school with since Kindergarten passed away in a bad car accident. He and I weren't best friends but I had known him for so long so I was sad to find out he had died. What happened to your friend? How did he pass away? If you don't mind my asking.
This song holds a very special place in my heart. The way I interpret it is that you may feel like you're alone with everything. Nobody sees you, you don't have a friend their for you and everything is so overwhelming. But when you finally find someone who genuinely cares and wants to be with you, and likes you for you, everything is easier. I cried like a baby to this song a couple nights ago. This song is forever my favorite
So my musical production place that I have been to since I was 4, is now being closed down because the head director is retiring. This song goes way back since I was 9 (I'm 14). My best friend was Horton and I was Jojo. Everyone who has been apart of that company is coming together and making one last show for a surprise thing for the director and her husband. This song for sure is gonna make me cry because my best friend moved to Texas 4 years ago and he's coming down for this event. I'm gonna most certainly cry •-•
My friend was horton too but she hasn't moved (but I'm homeschooled now) and she's in my neighborhood but now she gets home after darker. We did the play i was in fourth so i was like 10, I'm 13 now and i was a bird girl. The bird d girls always had drama the theatre teacher even threatened to only have two bird girls (me and and the fifth grader) it was better after that but the second graders were still so annoying though. Its was two second graders, one third grader, two fourth graders, and one fifth grader, i was friends with the fourth grader, third grader, and fifth grader. I auditioned for Cat in the hat, the director said i was good but "you just need to gain more confidence" which i did by the end of the show even though i did pretty bad the second night. We where going to do the Lion King jr. Play tye next year but COVID -19 came so their doing it this year which means i lose my part she hasn't given it to anyone as far as my friend knows though, i was going to be Sarabi and Sarafina with one of the girls who were playing bird girls with me last time we had the purple outfits, (i wanted blue) we where going to switch one night i was Sarafina the next night she was. It was nice though.💜💜 If anyone even read this far thanks and i hope you have a great (or amazing) year.🎉🎉
@Molly Johnson I can try to give you a few tips. I did this musical several years ago at my high school. First off, make sure you practice, practice, practice the song you are going to do for the audition. That’s really important. Second of all, no dairy products on the day of the audition. Dairy products, ice cream and milk especially, causes your throat to get yuckified before you sing. So, instead, drink plenty of water. Thirdly, keep yourself calm before and during the audition. Stage fright can happen to the best of us, so it's best to find ways to calm yourself if you must. Breathing exercises are a good example of what you can do. Fourthly, as much as I hate to say this...don't get your hopes up too high about whether you will get the part you want or not. Just like you, I auditioned for the part of Jojo. I thought I was pretty much guaranteed it. I had aced the audition (I sang one of Jojo's songs for it), I was the perfect height that Jojo needed to be (he is supposed to be the shortest of all of the Whos. It's canon.), and Jojo fit me to a T, personality wise. But then, come the day of the reveal, I was left in angry, heartbroken tears. I'd been chosen as one of the chorus girls and, as for Jojo, it was given to the second tallest male who auditioned. (Horrible Irony that I hated with a passion.) And it was all because I was a girl. The script may say that the part can be played by a boy OR a girl, but, trust me, it will more than likely go to a male. So, as I said before...don't get your hopes up too much...it will save you a lot of hurt feelings in case you don't get it. And, if you do, then congratulations! Break a leg out there and you will be great, no matter what part you get. Most importantly, HAVE FUN!! The whole play is a Dr. Seuss play, so have a lot of fun with it!
Audition is in two days! I am the shortest and my director even said “I don’t care if your a boy or a girl, it’s more of your height” so I have a good chance, and your tips will be a BIG help thanks!
Well damn. I’m playing Jojo (as a boy) and we are presenting in front of my school tomorrow, DEC 8,2019, and we are presenting on the Thursday and Friday and Wednesday. Well oopsie.
I am too -- I have friends, many infact. But I just see them as projections of my own thought, I always know what they're going to say or do. Everything's ironic to me, and so, nothing really exists. I think this is what Dr.Seuss meant...
It's funny, I was just listening to this song. I'm doing a college application essay about an event in my life revolving around this song. I just noticed your reply. It feels relieving to hear that someone else feels the same way towards this song.
Nathan Lambert some kids in my school called this the "cringe-ical". i got so mad. that was so stereotypical i swear. if they ever bothered listening to it theyll probably be walking out of the auditorium like "welp now i regret what i said".
I am getting so sentimental here. Tears are in my eyes. My daughter, her mother, and I attended a production of Seussical. When they performed this song they had the Cat in the Hat character walk around the audience. He was carrying a bubble machine. As the bubbles floated around all the children got up and started to jump up to pop the bubbles with these little hand clappers they had given out earlier. The beauty and innocence of children. One of the happiest days I spent with my daughter as a child. I was still married and my life was so much simpler. My parents were still alive and I was part of a family with my then-wife.
I was in a recital and I sang a different Seussical song from this titled 'It's Possible', but another 2 people sang this song. I honestly miss working with them and the other cast members, it was definitely one of if not the most memorable moment I've experienced in 2022 so far, and it hasn't changed Addicted to this song now haha
I auditioned for this play earlier today. I was told I have a high chance of getting a part since there wasn't too many people who auditioned. This song makes me happy :)
When I auditioned for Seussical at my local acting academy I listened to this video for inspiration. I got the part of Horton. I have played in many shows but Horton is still my favorite roll I've ever played.
I HIGHLY agree. I played the Cat in the Hat, and Idid extensive research on the hidden meanings of all the songss. Suessical is probably the best show I've ever done and its become one of my all-time favorites.
This song is so powerful to me ever since I heard it and I relate to it so closely because I'm the youngest in my whole family. Actually my class too. It just makes me feel so good for some reason
I miss this show so much! I was in it last year, and my best friend's older brother played Horton while my best friend and I were Sour Kangaroos. It was weird...there were three of us...Oh, this song brings back memories. Good ones.
There should be 704,000 likes because this video has 704,000 views because this is an amazing song that really hits home for a lot of people who feel so very alone in the universe. Just remember - You are not alone! See you in Solla Sollew...
I remember hearing this song for the first time when we first cold read the script. It ended up being my favourite song because I loved how sentimental and adorable it was. I did end up getting Ms Mayor, so after me and the guy younger than me finished doing the bathtub bit, I get to chill backstage while hearing this majestic of a tune. I was a senior in high school, and I was super depressed. But now I miss these days dearly. Right now, I’m working on my way to be an amazing freelance illustrator and moving to my own place in a few months. I wish I can return to theatre though….
The day my boyfriend and I first started talking we discovered we both like musicals, and upon the mentioning of Seussical both of us typed at the SAME TIME that this is one of our fav songs ever. Then a few days later he performed it at a talent show
i did seussical this year from January to April 2018, one of the most magical times of my life. i remember the auditions, how nervous i was, and waiting anxiously to see what part i was gonna get. i got the part i wanted, which was the wickersham brother! i remember counting down the days until performance time. i remember on the start of tech week so excited for rehearsals until the show. i remember all our tiny inside jokes. i remember meeting my best friend during seussical, and meeting so many other new friends. i remember being excited for rehearsal each and every day, and even excited to go to the two weekend rehearsals. i remember calling my friend when i was bored and singing the seussical songs together. i miss seussical, and it really was a fun experience.

ooo im in pit and i pretty much sit through 90% of the song. my musical starts tonight i cant wait, im gonna get a shitload of chills on this and solla sollew 😅 i play trombone btw
I'm doing Seussical now for community theater (sort of) and our Jojo is a little 8 year old boy and omfg, this song is so much better with a sweet little angel voice! So sweet! Made our director cry with this one. About the only song I'm not sick of yet, lol. Its great the first time around but after weeks you get to where you can't UNSTICK a single song lol.
I was Jojo in my last years' play. I'm wearing my Orange Converse that I wore for the part. I really loved this song. It was hard not to smile when I was singing.
My school's middle school classes are rehearsing for suessical this coming May. And I srsly think that the teachers pick the cast because the look pretty and stuff. Some of them can't even sing!
I have had the same experience, I tried out for a musical and so did my friend. My friend tried out for the Cat and Horton(as security), while I tried out for Horton. My friend did horrible at Horton (he even said so), while I did very well and never needed the book, which he did. When my friend tried for the cat, he did awesome and also didn't need his book. However another guy got the cat (who can't sing, needed his book; and always gets parts), while my friend got Horton (mind you I think he will do good as Horton, but I did better and he did better at Cat). While I got left with the Grinch, who has 1 line as a cameo in "Here on Who".
I can relate. My high school did this show my sophomore year and a big part of the reason I didn’t get cast was because so many seniors auditioned. I get it was their last show, but everyone has to start somewhere and should have a chance.
I'm fat and ugly and I got Horton because I can sing and act and other people laugh at me cause I'm a girl playing a male role and I already look like a fat elephant and I don't want to say all the lines were Horton says he's fat cause I'm insecure
That's actually true and not true at the same time. Most shows are already precasted so there is a rare chance for newcomers to get a good role. Roles are also dependent on looks. For Ariel in the little mermaid, if you have red hair and can sing and the other girl has brown hair and can sing then you most likely will get the role due to your hair. It's just how it is I guess.
I am a Wickersham in the play. I love stealing that speck of dust from Horton. Lol. I'm a Wickersham SISTER cause only girls auditioned for the Wickersham and not boys. And here is the funny part...... I was INVITED to the play. So i didn't even have to AUDITION! Lucky me!! XD
I tried out for this play and i got called back for JoJo. What my body said was: THATS FREIKEN AWESOME. I had a wonderful time as JoJo and I think that people who read this should try out for that play!
Im doing this play in a few months, my 6 year old little cousin is jojo, and she is so adorable(yes in our play jojo is a girl) thinking that i woudnt get the character i wanted i thought of how awesome it would be to watch her sing but my dreams came true and i dont have to watch her sing, because im horton and i get to be up there singing with her
I love this so much! Thanks for the video, because I forgot the tune on one part, and I haven't played piano in a while, so I needed to hear this before my audition tomorrow! It's My Fair Lady, but I'm still using this song..lol.
my friend asked me if i can help her audition with this song with her as jojo and me as orton. now that i hear and know the song, i can already tell the audition is going to be AWESOME!!!!!!
I had a friend- I met him in kindergarten. We stayed friends into college. He played Jojo in our production in fifth grade. He passed about a month or two ago and I miss him so much.
Rip
It's sad
im so sorry for your loss.. may he rest in piece

I'm so sorry for your loss. When I was 18 or 19 I found out that a guy I had gone to school with since Kindergarten passed away in a bad car accident. The person speaking Horton was bertrum from Jessie
I KNEW IT
Haley Grace he's a Broadway star, no duh
Haley Grace you are absolutely right!
He was also in The Adam Family.
Haley Sullivan omg I had no idea
This song is deeper than it seems
I feel this so much.

Aw
i was jojo
Any tips for playing Jo-Jo I just got cast?
Madelyn Brosius honestly, have fun with the character and bring out your inner child. It’s such a fun role

OMG THATS A LOT OF WORDS HOLLY MOLLY FGUJFUIKCFDGSZJLXVFSCJKNZX,M
Riku Courtier thanks i try
Riku Courtier wow! Idk who molly is, but I’m about to audition for a part in seussical and that helped a lot.
This is literally the sweetest song :)
I'll be playing Jojo in my school Broadway show, but the line "I'm the mayor's son" , there changing it to "I'm the mayor's daughter"
+sophie grinnell That makes sense because the mayors son actually sounds like a girl.
Girls plays boys all of the time, you didn't need to change anything.
Kids I mean you class laughed at me because I'm a girl and I play Horton
Same. Except I'm hortan. There not changing my character to a girl but the girl who is playing JoJo is a girl so they changed it to a girl
Well damn. I’m playing Jojo (as a boy) and we are presenting in front of my school tomorrow, DEC 8,2019, and we are presenting on the Thursday and Friday and Wednesday. Well oopsie.
I'm playing JoJo in the play haha. They are making JoJo female for this one, though. I'm now listening to this song. It's so beautiful :)
+Nyo England i playing jo jo too
JOJOS UNITE!!!! (I guess)
IM JOJO
Me too. I was Jojo
Kieran??
I'm alone. In the universe too
I am too -- I have friends, many infact. But I just see them as projections of my own thought, I always know what they're going to say or do. Everything's ironic to me, and so, nothing really exists. I think this is what Dr.Seuss meant...
Poor you
Me too
Me too
33 people are sour kangaroos
Now it's 35
Haha now 36
now 65
now 96
now 109
This song at one time represented so much pain for me.
same that's why this song hits my heart when we play it.
It's funny, I was just listening to this song. I'm doing a college application essay about an event in my life revolving around this song. I just noticed your reply. It feels relieving to hear that someone else feels the same way towards this song.

My school is doing seussical and I'm jojo. I found this video very helpful! Now I know most of my lines
My school's doing it too! I want JoJo or Cat in the Hat or Horton. There's only four boys with us so almost all the parts are played by girls 😊
n
My school is doing seussical too and I'm trying out for JoJo
Same I always got stuck on the talking part
Basia B This is my dad's account but my singing class is doing a sussical, block and I'm trying out for Jojo.

I love listening to this song. My big brother played Horton a few years back and this song reminds me of him so much.
I saw this play at our high school! It was really nice! I love that song!
I’ve listened to this song so many times and I want to cry every time I hear it it’s SO GOOD
I remember hearing this song for the first time when we first cold read the script.
This was helpful. My school choir is going to sing this, so this was nice
The day my boyfriend and I first started talking we discovered we both like musicals, and upon the mentioning of Seussical both of us typed at the SAME TIME that this is one of our fav songs ever. Then a few days later he performed it at a talent show
i did seussical this year from January to April 2018, one of the most magical times of my life. i remember the auditions, how nervous i was, and waiting anxiously to see what part i was gonna get. i got the part i wanted, which was the wickersham brother! i remember counting down the days until performance time. i remember on the start of tech week so excited for rehearsals until the show. i remember all our tiny inside jokes. i remember meeting my best friend during seussical, and meeting so many other new friends. i remember being excited for rehearsal each and every day, and even excited to go to the two weekend rehearsals. i remember calling my friend when i was bored and singing the seussical songs together. i miss seussical, and it really was a fun experience.
i’m auditioning on december 11th, i’ve only done 2 musicals before but i’m going for jojo, wish me luck!!
my school did this play 3 years ago wasnt in it but i went to go see it and its the best musical ive ever seen and i still remember the musical perfectly favorite songs were solla sollew this song notice me horton and oh the things you can think!!! solla sollew and this song always gets my eyes watery such beautiful songs!!!!!!!

This song hits so hard 😭😭
I was in a version of this Musical! Me and my friend were Thing 1 and Thing 2 :)
It was fun even without lines
This is amazingly motivating. I remember being one of the Wickershams in the play :D
I love this song :)

I'm doing this song for a district competition as a duet and this is a very useful and helpful video to make. Thank you!

I like this song
I’ve seen Seussical twice. Sometimes I feel alone in the universe.
Thank you for the video. =)
I'm learning this song for an audition, and being able to listen to it really helps.

We are doing it for our school chorus concert and i am trying out for the horton the part. This is my 100th time watching this.
This catches me so hard
currently playing Horton. Amazing part. This and Solla Sollew are such incredible songs
