I've been through cold water training, no cotton wear synthetic or wool and wear a regular foam life jacket. Cotton sucks the heat out and it's amazing how warm a life jacket keeps you in the water.
Man I could have used that run down a couple months ago, had to put it together with trial and error. I was determined to fish all year, never give up!
Very useful info..seems are important. I opt for a pair of thermals with a fly opening. Not gonna hit shore to undress and pee. Also, I recently purchased a heated vest to protect my core..incredible. Was just out shore fishing in NY and was warm, thanks to wearing my ice fishing bibs and jacket. One last tip, use some spray antiperspirant on the soles of your feet. If your feet sweat, they will get cold. Alpaca wool socks complete that part of the package. Us ice fishermen know how to dress for the cold. Thanks for the video!
I used to use some of my worn out Army boots in the winter, but found that if I wear a good set of insulted waders and a good heavy jacket I’m good to go. It gets pretty damn cold here in Germany and I’m never that cold. In the winter I wear that same outfit for all of my fishing content so people probably think I just have nothing else to wear..
Ike, good subject, very good. Now do one for the winter emergency bag, just in case you or someone falls out of the boat. Don’t see that subject discussed much, but may be the most important in the event someone hits the water.
hey Mike my dad would tell me I looked like I gain alot of weight in the winter, but when summer came I lose it real quickly but layers are the ticket to stay warm and a good rain suit and never give up good tips
My 1st angler underwear 👀video.😯 I first start layering waist down to the boots. Once tops go on and the heat starts building, out the door I go. Nice vid
One trick I learned at work for your hands, is buy some mechanics latex gloves to wear under any outer glove. Really generates heat, 100%dry, still have use of your hands. Worst comes to worse, you take them off
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it... even though your outfit probably costs more than all of my marine electronics :) Even so, this info is great, and I need to get this figured out.
It is a hard sell to convince a Canadian to watch an American talk about dressing warm. 🤣 BTW...spray your feet with antiperspirant to keep your feet warm. No sweat no cold.

Having to pee could take at least 15 minutes per pee through out the day.

I am ordering the Jason Christie hoodie. I like how it hooks over the bill of my cap. Also ordering the gloves too.

Wish we all could afford all that Aftco clothing! Must be 1500/2000 dollars if you would buy all that!

Great topic 👏 👍
Important to wear a vest with all that gear, otherwise you could end up a warm anchor...
Good stuff! But man, those gloves looked way too thin. Or do you sneak a heat pack in there too?
Cool. Now what's the deal with the crawdad and the torqeedo?
The aftco gloves bro
They will be mine o yes They will be mine.

Mike, how tall are you and what sizes do you wear in this video?
Hello mike in you could pass me the value of all this equipment right Thank you??
Atco needs to make big and tall sizes. NO fishing company does...
Awesome Video Buddy!
I bring soup!
👍🏼 nice
Your gonna get a heat stroke wearing all that lol

Spray bare feet w/ Arid xtra dry deodorant then polypropylène sock then wool...its magic.
All these heat packs you are better off just getting heated gloves, socks and sweater
