What a wonderful time of accomplishments in space exploration. In a way i miss the cold war in the sense of its prestige hunting... sort of todays kids "first's" and achivement hunting.
The cold war was good for encouragement, early on some astronauts said they thought it was mad going to the moon but they worried that if they didn't and the other side got their first they would be nuked basically.
It must be really annoying to be that good. Don't you miss trying to cobble together something in the VAB, only to watch it blow up on the pad, taking out half the KSC with it? Joking aside I am curious: when (if) you play a career in KSP, do you tend to build really cool and classy rockets and spacecraft that might actually work if created in real life, or are you a cheapskate like me, trying to spend the smallest possible amount of money on a vessel capable of accomplishing the task at hand? I reckon a series of you doing a career play through would be really interesting. This was an excellent video BTW, and of all your wonderful creations my own favourite has to be the little Mars 3 Lander. It's just so cute, how could you not like it? 😀

Basically yes but the spacecraft had rudimentary controls taken into account in the sense that a person can make intentional movements around in the capsule to make it roll a little so the pilot would be back first. I think they covered it all to be extra safe which was good as a fair few of their reentrys were messy.

Роскомнадзор phantom cosmonaut is a conspiracy theory that the USSR put a man or women into space on at least a suborbital trajectory but they did not make it back alive. Based off of transmissions intercepted in Italy and the Soviet Union had a history of covering up major things like this. Also the fact they went straight to orbital flight before suborbital.
