Bethesda needs to grow their staff. They can't keep pretending theyre a small company. Putting out a game every 10 to 15 years just isnt working.
Absolutely, they need to start recruiting yesterday if they want to make TES like the TES they used to make in Oblivion and Skyrim. Bethesda doesn't pretend to be a small company, they are a small company - the size of Larian who had only been an indies developer up to recently. They need to double their staff even, and create an infrastructure that makes large scale collaboration possible.
That or forget all about the extra modes, don't bother with the settlement or vehicle system, just focus on the core experience and make the most out of the small team they have.
Oblivion, Fallout 3, Skyrim and Fallout 4 were all released within a 9 year period by a team of 100 devs.
They should suck up to Obsidian and either hire them or just give them the Fallout IP lol.
the issue is that theyve grown a lot, and that leads to some severe beurocracy effects. which is why their games ahve taken a fall. and you see the same with nearly every game company that grows. quality drops

We are 13 years from Skyrim, and 9 years from Fallout 4. That's too long of a gap for mainline games.
At this point, I'm completely burned. My last Bethesda game was Fallout 4... almost 9 years ago.
Skyrim is almost 13 years old, and the Elder Scrolls 6 is still far from being released. I used to joke about it "I'll play the Elder Scrolls 6 when I'll be an elder", but now it's not even funny, because I'm in my 40's. I don't expect anything anymore, and I'm not sure that I even care.
you are not alone, a bit older than you and have given up all hope on anything good from bethesda, 76 was a joke, starfield was garbage, there is no way ES6 will even compare to the pure joy of skyrim, i just want one more run in fallout 4 but even that is starting to seem like a dying wish.

that is the highest level of bullshit i have read from a Bethesda channel yet. they knew there would be backlash. if you go back and watch/read interviews, they constantly sidestepped any relevant info that people would be upset about. they knew.
I' m speaking with over 30 years experience. They have the staff to split them into dedicated teams and work on the IP's in parallel. This is just bad product management in action. Unlike other developers, nothing they are doing is cutting edge, nothing has real life consequences beyond financial risk for the studio. I cannot understand such poor productivity. Their peers in the business sector writing productivity tools have to be much, much more productive with much less. Let's be honest here, BGS leans hard on mod authors to finish their work and turn their games into something with legs. The Fallout London team has how many people working part-time? It took them how long? I rest my case.

The Fallout London did not start from scratch and like all mods are using years of Bethesda's work as a baseline.
Did you know that they don't bother with internal documents for planning? Like they don't create game documents, or rule bibles, or anything like that. Emil admits it in public like it's something to be proud of.
I'm guessing that's why the games feel so sloppy and unorganised - because they actually ARE.

I genuinely think it'll shadow drop when fallout show releases. Or, if it somehow doesn't, they'll at least announce a release date for it when fallout show releases. If neither of those happen, Bethesda is completely lost, and I don't think we're getting it

It's getting very tiresome getting hyped up for an announcement of a new game(or an update for an older game), then slowly loosing interest(or at least not being hyped anymore)because it took far too long for the game to release.
If you're getting hyped up for games in 2024, that's on you.

Bethesda “we use creation engine cuz it makes things faster for us” yet it took 8 years to put out the slop that is starfield and takes them forever to do an update to a old game. I don’t see what’s so fast about it when they are one of the slowest developers out there!
Yeah I mean there is only hundreds of hours of content compared to say 16 hours in God of War, I cannot get my monkey brain around why it takes a team the same size to make a game with a tonne of player freedom and hundreds of hours of content longer than a linear 16 hour game, I just cant figure it out. Bethesda choosing Fallout 76 as the game to go along with the release of the Amazon show is a very bad sign for anyone expecting a Fallout 4 update. They want people to play Fallout 76 and buy the DLC, because this is the game they are invested it. They would lose money on a next-gen update and they probably aren’t doing as well as they thought after Starfield started going belly up.
Bethesda is a freaking joke at this point, considering the time they take between games a normal company would have either started working with a new engine or even rewrite the entire creation engine to be a proper engine instead of the patchwork it is.
I just hope they fix Downtown Boston since they are announcing that they are about to break my mod list.
Its INSANE to me.....INSANE they didn't put out even a port of Fallout 3 or New Vegas to tie into the series.

Bethesda has made a significant amount of money. It's almost no surprise they're the way they are now.

@@jegjrtp87the issues start to show up once you’ve done a lot with settlements, especially the robot setters. For some reason that, and nuka world will cause the game to crash on ps5. Idk never noticed that on ps4 if I’m being honest
It happens on both consoles with certain mods and creation club content. The CC content is worse cuz u pay for that and it’s been a problem for years and Bethesda knows it but still hasn’t fixed the issue yet they keep selling the content basically stealing from their customers-buy the content to break your game so u can’t play it and enjoy it and have to uninstall it and not use it to be able to play again so u basically give them money for nothing. And yet they give a warning for mods telling u it may happen but no such message for the CC content u pay for….interesting 🤔
Been playing FO4 on PS4 for weeks with now issues and randomly my game crashes at main screen after downloading Nuka World. Deleted everything from my system and redownloaded the game and all DLC. Same issue… crashes at main screen. From there I downloaded one DLC at a time… Automatron was/is causing my game to crash. Literally unplayable. Found out on Redit that others are having the same issue. So I had to say “see-ya-later” to 100+ hours of game saves. Nice work Bethesda.

It’s clear that Bethesda doesn’t care about Fallout, which is why I’m putting trust in the community to bring us what’s basically a new fallout game with fallout London coming out this month, I also recently heard about a mod for fallout 4 that aims to remake fallout 2. The community will just make the new games from now on while Bethesda keeps jacking off in a corner not doing anything
I just hope the next gen update's release doesn't mess with the release of Fallout London.
I have a backed up install of 4 just in case, but most people don't. It'd really suck if it hampers the mod from being played

Until Bethesda dumps that ancient engine of theirs, the games will never improve. Can you imagine what ES6 is going to be like if it runs like SF? having to fast travel from town to town without all the open worldness that we expect in a modern game. I just have lost all faith in bethesda.

I love Fallout 4 and love Starfield (still play Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077 in a daily basis). But something is going on with Bethesda this days... "mods are coming early" for Starfield and there's nothing as we get close to the latest "early" part of the year, closing the first quarter... They dont even started the planned "features updates" like city maps and new ways of travel... They're focusing on hype merch, live service (f76) and the fallout Amazon series (which looks like a masterpiece, the quality, the direction, the actors, lore etc gonna be amazing) but not a single word about the GAMES part on what they are planning (fallout 76 is not a normal game, is a live service = GAAS but nowadays, is good tho, not the problem by itself). Just a mention about some old mod for Skyrim or about some nice screenshot of Starfield and some thought posts about nice well known places in F4... I mean, despite the effort to fullfill their apparently cut content in Starfield with the more long last update to get close to the "new features" thing, they look more worried about some entertainment or sells out of the videogame world than their own pace of showing content in their own games.. Fallout 4 is still broken on ALL the platforms including PC (less but still crash)... and they promissed to adress some things... I love to play from time to time like Skyrim but came to a point that Im holding to play again only if they release a patch that corrects Boston cause nowadays on console its impossible (specially with mods that arent supposed to break the game this way). Of course I want more stuff in the Fallout universe and Zenimax, they have their needs, their profit, their shareholders, the companies involved and way of work but the people who buy their games should be more valuable too (the opinion of the people). We want real explanations, roadmaps, dates... not only be at shadow of some tv thing or media campaign. And if this isnt the time, I dont know when... better than this Amazon series hype, we not gonna have probably nothing for many years until F5 or some New Vegas remaster thing
We really don't need the next gen update. It's just going to break modding while offering us nothing in return. Modded FO4 works flawlessly unless you're actually bad at modding your install.
You're absolutely right. More open world content for F76 would be great. However, we don't play F76 solely for the "Fallout fix". It's the community and comradeship that keeps it alive.
Fallout on PS5 is broken. Keeps crashing with the Automaton dlc. We need the next gen update soon. At least a patch to fix the issue
I dont think alot of people will leave 76 for long once the next gen update comes out because i feel like most hardcore fallout fans have to much loot to sacrifice and probably hesitate to start a new campaign. Wish there were character slots

Bethesda really needs to use outside help again. Look what happened when they let Obsidian make a game. We got New Vegas. I was so baffled when I heard that they shut down the idea of an Obsidian made Elder Scrolls game

It’s just been announced that it’s coming out on 25th April. It doesn’t appear to add much: widescreen support for PC; a few extra creation club items; and some bug fixes. But it is free
I have no interest in going back to 76, but I’m sooo looking forward to Fallout 4 next gen. At this point I don’t care if it’s free or there’s a price for it just give it to us 😞

Just downloaded a mod pack for fallout 4 yesterday that's around 112 gigs. It's incredible what the community can do with these games. I hope there update doesn't make em unplayable
Fallout London is coming out this month, although it's a mod, it's DLC sized content of fallout in London. But yeah, I heard Todd Howard say that after Starfield and Elder Scrolls, then Fallout 5 would be next.....that was like almost a year before starfield.
I am guessing they low-key decided to focus the hype on fallout 76 to generate as much revenue as possible from the live service game during the TV show launch. Later they will release the Fallout 4 update, but that will be way after the TV show hype dies down.
I am okay paying for the next-gen update if it was like the Anniversary Edition of Skyrim. Which was mostly just Elder Scrolls Blades ports(I like the farm).
For Fallout 4 they can just port weapons, armor/outfits, buildings, settlement objects from 76.
It would be cool if they added some of the cryptids too.
$20 bucks for all that would be cool. Plus I would need to use less mods with all that extra content lol

Since last week I'm playing New Vegas for the first time after I played it at launch. PS3 no mods. And yes your compagnion get's stuck and lost. And yes the game freezes completely from time to time. But still. The story, the quests, the world, the leveling, the characters. It all just reminds me what the standard for this franchise could be and what it just hasn't been since.
There's a terminal by the gun runners to recall lost companions. Also heads up to save constantly during old world blues. It crashes constantly.
Yeah we've gotten 1 Elder Scrolls game (Oblivion) then 2 Fallout games (3,New Vegas) then 1 Elder Scrolls game (Skyrim) then 2 fallout games (4,76). What the heck if we're going to keep getting 2 fallout games in a row then at least give us 2 Elder Scrolls games in a row.

If you're going to count 76 as a proper Fallout game (is not), then also include TESOnline with Skyrim...
My counterpoint/justification to that is that Elder Scrolls games are usually much more expansive.
Fallout games can be B lined fairly quickly, but if you want to B line a Elder Scrolls game you need to go through multiple different quest lines(of course you need to in Fallout as well, but to a much lesser extent).
I love Fallout 4, but it is a smaller game than Skyrim, and Skyrim also has a lot more in-depth mechanics(the magic system by itself is quite a lot).
So I'm fine with getting 1 Massive Elder Scrolls game, then 1-2 Moderately Sized Fallout games, but that's just not how it goes anymore.
Now we are going to be in the cycle of ES, Fallout, and Starfield(if it gets any sequels, or they just do a new IP every third main dev team game).

My modded FO4 hardly needs a bughthesda update. Besides, with the actual state of Startfield they will delay the update way ahead in the future.

can you ask your uncle whats the reason why their games have become worse? and why they refuse to improve some aspects of their games? like the inventory UI of starfield feels exactly the same as skyrim, which is clunky. and ALL teir games have mods that heavily changes the UI, yet they wont apply to their games.

It's crazy how a compagny can be so good to write millions of questline and dialogues, but so bad at communication about writing 1 tweet to get things clear.

I have zero confidence in Bethesda now, the only thing I want is that damn update and they can't even get that out. I bet we'll get it at the 10th anniversary next year with a whole bunch of MTXs and a 40 dollar price tag...
I’ve been waiting so patiently for this “update”. Thought it would have been announced at the Bethesda showcase last year, and when it wasn’t then everyone said it would be announced around the release date to the show and now again…. Nothing. 😢

Game is broken. All of us know the feeling of of a gurenteed crash when you enter downtown Boston or other bugged parts of the map. They will not fix this. More lipstick for their giant injured pig will certainly lock in Todds legacy tho
I more and more get the feeling that Bethesda announced the Fallout 4 update at a spur of the moment. "Lets announce it. What could possibly go wrong?". Then they released Starfield.
Dont get your hopes up, the stuff from the creation club thats being added with update is already available in the creation club and has been available sense 2022-23.
I dont want anything to do with Fallout 76, Fallout got its recognition being single player. Give me a Next Gen for Fallout 3 or 4, or something on Fallout 5.

I honestly struggling with this, currently the only way to play fallout 4 in VR WITH DLC is to dump it from the flat version and drop it in.
Will this break the VR versions similarities?
I think it should be done like Skyrim and have a new free version like when special edition dropped.
Or the should also give the VR version some love including all the essential mods to make it actually good.
My vr version is closed to 500 GB and looks insane.
Bethesda announce that Shattered Space will be the only Starfield DLC and the team will transition to work on TES6. Just wait for it..
As someone that has a heavily modded game I hope it never arrives. lol
They should really make the PC update a separate version instead of updating the existing one.

Chances are modders will be able to quickly fix their mods with any of the next gen update or whatever they release.
From my understanding, so long as they set the mods to the correct RefID (of the item, etc) - it’ll be all good.
Especially with xEdit and how on top all the devs are with it!
And FWIW - you can move the FO4 game files somewhere else and launch it from there. Especially since chances are you use f4se to launch it since you mod it heavily
This is true for the mod authors that are still supporting their mods but many of them have moved on, and a lot of the mods in my mod list aren't even available anymore. I'll be fine though. I'll just set the game to not update and all will be good.
About whether it will be a separate update or not I don't know, but in the past they've just updated the existing game.
@@dr.bright3081that depends if the modders even come back at all. It's been a while, and people move on to newer games. No doubt some will need replacing.

Starfield was supposed to be the game that will let everyone forget about Elder Scrolls and Fallout. Now that it has completely Royally F*cked Up, Bethesda is in a complete Panic Mode now. NO ONE even looking forward to Elder Scrolls or Fallout anymore after seeing how Dated and F*cked Up Starfield is. 7 years of development all flushed down the toilet.😂😂😂

In my opinion Fallout 4 doesn't need an update. It was actually one of the 1st games I revisited on the series X and it looks amazing especially with the auto HRD feature. But communication wise it is not a good look on Bethesda.

Man I really wish Microsoft, would give obsidian the fallout license. Bethesda really lost there charm, the past 10 years. I want a fallout new Vegas remake in un real 5. Or fallout New vegas 2
The sooner Bethesda abandons Starfield and 76, the sooner we can get FO5 and ES6. Wish the mouth breathers supporting those games would get the message.

that is such a good point. Where do they want the traffic headed after the tv show? the live service game ofc. So annoying why announce it at all. They are so frustrating to deal with.
They need to decide how ugly to make the characters to make them ‘24 acceptable.
Firstly, no one asked for Starfield. Bethesda is/was suffering from the unexpected (to them) backlash of starfield. Secondly, as Matt puts it, Fallout 76 isnt a Fallout game. Its an MMO. Yet Bethesda wants to keep a game (that very few people want) alive just to milk it for all its worth...pretty much like Blizzard with WoW.
Todd recently stated that "fans are not happy with us releasing a new game every 10 or so years for their respective franchise. I understand. If there was a way to do it faster, we would do it."
Uh, I call bullshit. There are LOTS of ways to create games faster without sacrificing quality (lol). And no "procedural generation" like they used in Starfield isnt the answer.
Fallout 4 is has and will always be my game. Stressed out from work? I hop into FO4. Taking time off work? I hop into FO4. The world going to hell in a hand basket? I hop into FO4. People shit on FO4 way too often and way too hard. I love the game...both the good and the bad. There is a reason why FO4 sold over 25 million units vs every other person's favorite Fallout new vegas' 11.6 million.
