The Victorian Age was abuzz with commercial energy & material developments which could be seen in the Great Exhibition of 1851. On the other hand, the working class people suffered due to which the movement called Chartism took place in Victorian Age. Intellectual developments & scientific revolution occured after Charles Darwin's 'On the Origin of Species' was published in 1859.
Novel became the most popular form of Literature in Victorian Age. The poets who contributed to Victorian poetry are Alfred Tennyson, Robert Browning, Matthew Arnold. The popular Victorian novelists are Charles Dickens, George Eliot, Bronte sisters, Thomas Hardy.
