Barenaked Ladies probably changed the name because naked or semi-naked ladies would show up at a concert, whereas free beer is just trying to cause a riot. (Wouldn't be surprised if THE POLICE advised them to change their name, and I'm not talking about Sting.)

I think the name The Village Idiots suits Nickelback more than Nickelback
