Hi @no_5_loft the scale is a sign of condition, I have always been told by my Dad to look out for a cleaner skin with less scales, would point towards a better condition, but its the same as in humans everyone can have different skin some people have soft & shiny, some are rough & dry. So its not the be all & end all! its just an indicator of condition.
Hi Eric 👍 The young bird race team are either daily trained up to 20 miles (weather permitting) plus one loft fly of up to 45 minutes or if the weather isn't good they are loft trained for at least 45 minutes, twice a day. Usually the day after race day they have open doors on their sections, I'll put a bath out for them & they can do whatever they want for an hour or so, then it's back into the training routine for the rest of the week until the day before basketing when they have a rest day, before the race!

What is the scale showing? Is it shwoing that it did not get enough training? Or problem with health?

Up to how many miles you race your young birds?
The furthest race for young birds has been 183 miles, but only the birds that went to all the races prior to that distance went.
Does your young birds team still go out at the Aviary when Race starts or they just stays in the sections through out season?
