I am playing along to this and I am thinking, "Damn James, wasn't this version fast enough!?" That guy was on another level back then. Puppets, Battery, Disposable Heroes, Damage Inc all insanely fast and all on one album!
@@hwung1290 I can follow along 85% well. I can do 90% but with quite a few mistakes, especially in the "sliding power chords"-part in the verse. And 95% is still impossible for me currently.
@@damusic6216 you know what's crazy. I havent touched this backing track since I made this comment and I just check back to day and try and you happened to comment 3 hours ago LOL. what a coincidence
Fuck it's going to be a long road to 100%. Anyone got any tips for mastering the art of the down pick? I feel I've been stuck on this tempo for a while and can't get any faster without getting sloppy?
It's harder to downpick all on the low E string like in MoP, whereas in creeping death you use the low E as a pedal note but go down to the chord on the A & D string, so your hand has further to come back up before it needs to hit the next downstroke, it's a bit like economy downpicking.. A to make the MoP riff easier is instead of using frets 1 to 12 on the low E, play the riff using fret 1 to 7 of the A string and just frets 1 to 4 of the low E string.
Try 'bursting'. It may not be that you can't play faster but that you don't have the stamina to play that fast non-stop. This makes your hand and forearm tense up. Take a small section, like maybe just 4-8 notes. Play that to a metronome. Rest for maybe 4 clicks of the metronome and then repeat. During the breaks, concentrate on relaxing your arm. You may find that you can get this going faster than if you tried to play an entire section. Gradually increase the number of notes between breaks. Hope that helps.

James trains with augmented gravity to achieve that speed I struggle playing at this speed I can't understand how he do it
What do you mean? I’m curious how that psycho moves his hand that fast
This is so damn hard for me. But I'm trying.
