I came across this and want to share at 51 years old, this body has been through alot, and the road to recovery has been hard since 2013. I am retired from the military but still active in law enforcement where I weigh 215 lbs with all my equipment and uniform, without 185. L5 thru L1 was herniated in combat while I was in Afghanistan. I weighed 297 lbs with all my gear and then was 180. I will say I am very thankful I am still working through this while I know at some point my L3 was diagnosed as a degenerative disc. But since I have done more kettle bell one arm carries with 22kilos I know I am keeping things in check. But wearing a load bearing vest for 12 hours plus is taxing. I will bring back some progress as I know there are others out there who know true back pain like I did, and there is hope.
I have been struggling with this for four years now. In spring of 2020 I sat down in a chair only to find that I could not get back up. I had been going to a chiropractor once a week for two years at that point and to be honest, there were times that I left feeling worse after the adjustment. A physical therapist turned me on to these percussive message guns and that has made the biggest improvement. I know that I have quite a bit of anterior pelvic tilt which contributes to the problem, and I recently discovered what I had been doing at work that has caused that. I am taking it one day at a time and hopeful that I may correct this one day. I am curious to know if decompression therapy is a worthwhile investment in the long-term goal of being pain free?
Hi @Tim, thanks for sharing some of your story! Decompression therapy can be helpful in conjunction with a rehab protocol that improves your core connection and quality of movement, but on it's own can only have short term effects since it doesn't address the root cause of the problem. It can't provide long term healing if the issue(s) that caused the problem persist. I would only recommend decompression therapy if you feel you are already on the road to recovery and would like it to provide a catalyst to your healing. Hope that helps!
Thank you for this video Dr. Peebles. I have severe lower back pain and when I turn my body to my left, I feel like a needle in my back. I probably have herniated or degenerative disc. I’ve been focusing on walking, running, keeping my core tight and it’s helped a lot. You mentioned it’s possible to live your life with a damaged disc. Do you believe it’s possible for me to return to practice Brazilian jiu jitsu (an intense grappling sport) with damaged disc?
Hi there! Thank you so much for watching the video. We have a very high number of students with herniated and degenerative disc issues in the program with great success. I do suggest watching the Free Masterclass here: www.corebalancetraining.com/masterclass which will then lead to the assessment. From there, you can decide if this program would be the right fit for you. Thank you for the comment!
I have some degenerative discs, slight bulge, with sciatic nerve pain and foot drop. Is loss of function (the foot drop), although it’s getting better, a must for surgery? Or can it be healed through non invasive treatments and changes?
Hello sir thanks for your valuable information, need help regarding my problem, i was getting a lot of back pain so i consulted a doctor , with help of MRI scan i got to know that ( L1 L2 L3 L4 L5 S1) mild disc bulge... Can you please recommend the best way to get rid of this pain and recovery
This is a very common situation, and I completely understand your questions as I was once in the very same shoes, searching the medical system for solutions for 10 years. I believe that: 1) One of the biggest problems is the system is focused treatment on the pain, which is not the cause of the problem. 2) Many health care providers don't actually understand the root cause of the problem (they do care, but don't know what to do besides PT, pills, injections, surgery). 3) The only TRUE solution is educating and empowering yourself to take responsibility and make changes in your life. Specifically, improving your relationship with your body, core connection and posture. I teach this process in the Core Balance Training program which was designed for people with your conditions. You can start with the education here: ruclips.net/video/rYFOwxhI3OM/видео.html
the stock footage is almost random. can we have some cats? sorry being silly here but please, the stock music and footage is just so wrong and annoying. would love to hear your message but just can't.
@@michellec3100 so you only care about the murder of big animals ?? What about the millions of bacteria, squirrels, birds, insects, and bees destroyed by mono crops and pesticides ?
Yes, your point is correct.👍 When I grew up many, many decades ago, the windscreen was full of smashed insects on a one hour drive through the alpine country, we had to stop washing it. Every petrol station had the bucket for windscreen cleaning and everyone needed it due to insects. Today ..... I drive and drive and maybe one insect smashes in one week. It's the impact of growing human population numbers, housing and use of pesticides. You are totally right. Also my neighbors use pesticides for their driveway instead of leaving a weed or cutting it. I have bees and they die horrifically in distress on my back terasse. Proboscis extended. But: another wrong doesn't make a wrong right. With choice you can do a lot for change. Less is more because the price for the right thing is high. I wish I had the means to have my own farm and care from birth, leaving calves with birth mum and slaughter on site. (not separating newborns straight away as it is common practice, bottle fed if lucky for later slaughter; my grandfather had a cattle farm... don't tell me you too have witnessed like I birth and separation or slaughter houses and can still promote "more beef" cold heartedly generalized. Even humans taking the colostrum (first milk after birth) for some snake oil sale, which is of no benefit for a human but calf, away from the newborn. The poor wet cold calf. No, I didn't inherit the farm, it went to the oldest boy, who was not my father.). You would be welcomed to buy ethical milk, eggs and meat and cartilage from my farm then.👍 The price would be higher and rightfully so. We don't need it daily. Pay farmers better so they could care more and have less animals. Needs control though as greed knows no limit. Maybe you do that already, seek farmers and even witness the treatment from birth to slaughter to make a good decision. Or a good shot hunter. Nothing else is more free-range and bred/left with mum naturally. I am full of ideas for improvement in farming animals from cattle to chickens. But I lack funds. It's back to the future actually. Our mass production has brought prices down and daily availability what was a Sunday maximum. Not great for animals though. That's what I criticize. Not the meat eating itself. I love(d) meat and offal. If you eat a steak, you can eat a liver or kidney as the next meal or a blood sausage. More meals out of one life. That's also respect. I am no snowflake. But for me the HOW is a huge factor I do care about. Most people do not care where their stinking bacon (it really often stinks) comes from as long as the price is low.🤮 Of course medicine etc is still full of animal use and abuse. I myself used slices of animal organs for immunofluorescence examinations for human diagnosis for autoimmune antibodies diseases in my lab work days. But I can control my food to some extend. You look young if this is your image. Maybe one day you will understand what I am blabbering about. Karma is a beast. Phytodroitin. You don't need bovine or shark cartilage to eat for your intake.
Amazing analogy with the scar. You may not know just how much that shift in perspective helps. Thank you.
You’re welcome @Daniel. Glad to hear you’re found it helpful!
