Dear Mary, thank you for your continuous work and your great channel. You are just like a soothing balm to listen to and to watch. I feel like I am right there in your kitchen drinking a nice cup of tea and seeing you share the your sweetness, kindness, knowledge and wisdom. It's extremely comforting, especially in a world where we can feel very lonely and find it hard to find a sense of togetherness, sharing and charity in our own communities. How much I wish I had the honor of knowing you in person and having your friendship. May God truly bless your beautiful heart.
Mary, I appreciate how thoroughly and thoughtfully you put everything together and that you share your wealth of knowledge for free. Thank you so much for your sweetness. I'm so thankful I found your channel. Many, many thanks!
Another fantastic video, Mary! When I was expecting both my children, I made months work of meals and partial meals in bags, seal them up in my food saver and freeze them knowing that my time would be very limited with newborns. It was so helpful, any time I had friend who were expecting, I made a month worth of easy breakfasts and dinners as a ‘Welcome Baby’ gift, knowing it was helping Mom & baby. 😊
I was watching an emergency prepare man who recommended what to have on hand in case of a natural disaster like flood. He mentioned prepared meals ready to go. Your meals would be perfect for this.
Just saw the notice about your 1 million+ subs. Congratulations to a lovely lady who is definitely easy to learn from and listen to. Thanks for your work for us.
This is a huge help for us. My spouse and I have been wfh since the pandemic started. While it has been wonderful spending more time with my family, it also means I'm now cooking three meals a day and snacks 😂. Great video as always. ❤
I have a vacuum food saver, works great. Sometimes I make a bag too small, or have a small piece left over so I make really small bags for a packet for seasoning for a meal. No need to vacuum but just seal.
As always, a well thought out topic with wonderful ideas and recommendations but also with room to adjust to work for our individual lives and kitchens. You have inspired and encouraged me in wonderful ways and I appreciate you more than you could possibly know. Thank you friend for being you and so generously sharing with all of us. 🤗
I'm no stranger to meal preps and do a fair amount of home canning so listening to you is VERY motivating. Two reasons to make a meal in a bag as you suggested in my life would be the night I wanna throw in a frozen pizza or after a day of canning. So now Ill be better prepared thanks to your encouragement, Mary...
Mary this is amazing! I’ve been under the weather and my brain isn’t working top notch. This will be great for those days. Plus for the seniors who get foggy headed. They may get to stay at home longer. I have dehydrated soups in a jar. Saving for catastrophic reasons. Super idea putting the recipe on the bag. 👍🏼👋💜🤗
Mary thank you so much for this video! I'm 28 weeks pregnant and would like to start meal prep soon for the upcoming months, this will help me out tremendously! 😊
Good ideas for quick meals. These would also be a great idea for handing out to shut ins or elderly or anyone who needs a meal and may not have but one pot/pan/crock pot. You could even just write the recipe on the bag for the ones you'd hand out. I think this might work for a food pantry at church.
Thank you, Mary. This was very helpful. I love this idea and look forward to creating my bags. I have followed your instructions for years; have your book and consider you a friend and supporter of my efforts at home. I shared this idea with my grown daughters. Thanks!
I have collected a lot of meals in a bag recipes, but have been too lazy to actually put any together 😂. I also have put some meals in a jar together--a couple without the meat, so it can be varied. I think you can also do that with meals in a bag. Dump-and-go can make it easy for even my husband to do! Thank you, Mary! Great video and ideas!
Great video, wonderful information. I love this idea "meal in a bag" thinking about doing this for school kids for the summer or seniors. Other idea is for a food pantry for people that are short term just need a little help for a short time to get on there feet! Of course everything would have to be in cans or boxes sealed. Just thinking! Let me know your thoughts? Laura
My daughter works hard and isn't fond of cooking, and they eat more fast food than maybe thy should. A few of these "meals in bags,", while I can't imagine her ever going to the trouble of doing it, seem they would be a nice little gift for me to give her once in a while. (Though she's also a pain in the neck about NO excess stuff in the house. But I'll think about that later 😁.)
I appreciate the pantry meal recipes and hoping you come up with even more. I don't have room for the bags, but really needed the pantry meal ideas and recipes. I'll be making a binder with these.
People almost always have a little extra room. I have food under beds, in bedroom closets, and a little bit on my dresser. Most of it’s in jars but I have a few bags as well.
I am a quilter with lots of fabric. I’m going to make bags to sit on top of my bookcase in my office. (with a stiff interfacing to stand up). Pretty but functional😁
I love the meals in a bag. Mary you are full of so many suggestions which I enjoy. I love your book and have made all of your broth. your son is in my prayers.
You are SO sweet! I'm not a formally trained teacher but I was a homeschool mom and I taught traditional cooking in my kitchen for about 20 years so maybe I picked up a skill or two. Thank you for the kind words!! Glad you're here!! Love, Mary
I’m so excited for this video! I’m getting ready to close on my new small homestead! I will have a basement that I am building a “grocery” store in, and I wanted an entire shelving space for just this type of meals. I’m going to be in the Appalachian mountains so in the winter this will be helpful
I love this idea! Thank you! As a homeschooling mom of 5 kids, lunches can be a challenge. I’m trying to teach my older kids how to make and learn a handful of recipes from memory. This should be a perfect way to do it.
When I homeschooled, each kid had a night to cook. For the younger ones, I cooked with them. Once they knew a few meals, they cooked alone. Then the cook didn't have to help with dinner cleanup. It was so helpful to me.
We did the same thing. Once a week, I had them research meal ideas they would like. They would try to use what we had on hand, but I was not opposed to grabbing an ingredient or two to complete their meal idea. Honestly, they made some really delicious meals. It gave me a break and taught them life skills. @@motherhenn8850
@Mary, thank you for sharing your wisdoms in food Prep. Nowadays it takes forever to shop due to the label reading. The word BIO ENGINEERED keeps popping up on many items. I am making so many things now to avoid this. Soup mixes, coffee creamers, etc. I have fermented many items and the dehydrator goes constantly. I thank you for all the ideas that you have given us! God bless you and the family!
It might be a good idea to write info (what is in the can and expiration date), especially if you live where floods happen. There's nothing like mystery meals during an emergency.
Thanks for sharing. I already have recipes printed, put in a page protector, and in a binder. I do the same for my dream journal (my favorite dreams) and video game guides (the things I look up online for times I can't go online). Have the binders color coded.
This is very similar to those meal in a bag subscription services that do all this for you. I think for my situation- unless I’m leaving home for a while and want to prep my daughters favorites for my husband- idk if the juice would be worth the squeeze for me to do this. I think I’d probably just go ahead and make the whole casserole or whatever and just pop it into the freezer. My husband isn’t gonna wash all kinds of little containers vs one baking dish. I think this could work wonderfully for a meal train or making meals for someone who may not feel like eating right away or who may be inundated with meals all at once such as after a death/birth/illness/injury. That way they/someone else can cook it for them without fresh without having to think. I might use it for that.
This would be great to give to someone who’s had a death in the family or a baby or just a rough time, that people bring meals to, for after all the meals are gone that others brought premade. (Or you could bring both).
Something like this might be good to donate to a food pantry put together with the recipe. So someone can make an actual meal instead of random ingredients.
Hi Mary, I love your videos. We need grain-free and dairy and soy free option. I would be interested to any thoughts you might have on meals in a bag or anything else. Keep on cooking 😊
What about the follow up on the green stock container that you planted and I think it was seven months ago I just haven’t seen another recent video on anything about that. I bought one last year and I didn’t have very good luck with it so I’m gonna try again this year.
I thought the Laughing Cow Cheese needs refrigerated and very soft? How can you grade it? Thank you for all the free printouts. I bought your book, Amazon delivered it today.
Always interesting. In my family we have a severe tomato allergy (annaphylactic level). Do you have some tomato alternatives for these types of recipes (nomato only goes so far).
And you can make your own too. I explain the simple process in my recent book, The Modern Pioneer Cookbook but all you have to do is melt butter and let it simmer till the milk solids sink to the bottom. Then you strain off the "butter oil" which is now your ghee or clarified butter. Love, Mary
Mary- the recipes do not say how many servings each one makes. I wonder if you could give some ideas as they seem to make a lot of food. I cook for two and these seem to be a lot more food than I would need. Thank you
I understand completely. I didn't put servings because it really varies as to how large or small a portion you want. Most of the recipes will serve 4-6. But all freeze really well. Hope this helps. Love, Mary
I believe so. Check here: marysnest.com/my-cookbook/ And then scroll down and click on "Order Outside the United States". Thank you in advance!! Love, Mary
I live alone. I have no one. I am cognitively impaired. I need help how to get hard copies I print out but I don't know how. There is a different pitch for me to use a different way to do it almost every day. I don't want to give up but I need help. Why is my adobe not okay to download and access to print? You are so sweet, smart and a blessing to me. Thank you. Beverly aka "Krystal Blue persuade me"

The first year my husband and I went hunting, beforehand, i cooked a turkey, two roasts, a ham and some chicken cut them all up and made gravy for each. I put them in single serve seal-a-meal bags and froze them. When it was time to go I simply put some of each in coolers to act as ice. To eat them I simply put whatever anyone wanted in a pot of boiling water to heat up. It made my job much easier.
Great tip!
Those tiny jam jars you get as gifts are perfect for putting seasonings in a big.
I use the small sized plastic Easter eggs to put my spices in for bag meals.
Such a great tip!!

I’m so excited for this video! I’m getting ready to close on my new small homestead! I will have a basement that I am building a “grocery” store in, and I wanted an entire shelving space for just this type of meals. I’m going to be in the Appalachian mountains so in the winter this will be helpful
I love your channel thank you 🙏👍
WOW!! Thank you!! So glad you're here!! Love, Mary
Hi Mary I just love watching your videos you are really a very sweet person to you and your family have a wonderful weekend take care bye.
Thank you! You too!
Brilliant ideas!! Thank you for sharing Mary!
You are so welcome!
You are a true gift!!! Just ordered your cookbook!!! Thank you so much!!! Have a blessed day.
It might be a good idea to write info (what is in the can and expiration date), especially if you live where floods happen. There's nothing like mystery meals during an emergency.
You always have such great ideas, Mary. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
Just made bone broth in my slow cooker yesterday. I love having my own broths for everything. Thanks Mary, great video.
Wonderful suggestions and meal 🥘 ideas. Thank you ❤👍❗️
You are so welcome!
I just ordered your book. Thank you - I have learned alot from you 💐
Yay, thank you so much!! Love, Mary
Amazing Mary thank you very much stay bless with your family
Love your videos, glad you have the condense soups. I was so shocked to see the ingredients not only that but soup.
Thanks Mary this info is good for us preppers and home cooked meals
Thanks for watching!
This was fantastic, Mary! Thank you!!
Thank you I love these videos that you share ❤
Thanks for sharing. I already have recipes printed, put in a page protector, and in a binder. I do the same for my dream journal (my favorite dreams) and video game guides (the things I look up online for times I can't go online). Have the binders color coded.
Hi Jean, Hope you are doing great. Love, Mary
Still keeping Ben in my prayers. ❤
Thank you!
Thank you Mary!
Thank you for very useful information!
This would be great to give to someone who’s had a death in the family or a baby or just a rough time, that people bring meals to, for after all the meals are gone that others brought premade. (Or you could bring both).
Such a good idea!!❤❤
Thank you!! 😊
I need you. I’m listening to politics way too much. I thank God for your channel. It’s positive.

Something like this might be good to donate to a food pantry put together with the recipe. So someone can make an actual meal instead of random ingredients.
Great idea for a shower gift
Hi Mary, I love your videos. We need grain-free and dairy and soy free option. I would be interested to any thoughts you might have on meals in a bag or anything else. Keep on cooking 😊
Great suggestion!
Bison broth, you got me there.
Always interesting. In my family we have a severe tomato allergy (annaphylactic level). Do you have some tomato alternatives for these types of recipes (nomato only goes so far).
On the tortilla soup do you drain the beans, ect?
I didn’t know anything at all about ghee. I just knew it was expensive. But now I can see it’s something I’m gonna want to get. Thank you.
Yes, these meals can be made very affordably. Love, Mary
And you can make your own too. I explain the simple process in my recent book, The Modern Pioneer Cookbook but all you have to do is melt butter and let it simmer till the milk solids sink to the bottom. Then you strain off the "butter oil" which is now your ghee or clarified butter. Love, Mary
@@MarysNest oh wow! Thank you!!
@@MarysNest Here we like to call it "oil of milk". I think it started as a 'Dad joke'.
I am in the twilight zone most of my subscriptions disappeared i am having to go and find them!
Love, Mary
I save everything 😂
Is there a site for Canadians to order your book?
I believe so. Check here: marysnest.com/my-cookbook/ And then scroll down and click on "Order Outside the United States". Thank you in advance!! Love, Mary

I live alone. I have no one. I am cognitively impaired. I need help how to get hard copies I print out but I don't know how. There is a different pitch for me to use a different way to do it almost every day. I don't want to give up but I need help. Why is my adobe not okay to download and access to print? You are so sweet, smart and a blessing to me. Thank you. Beverly aka "Krystal Blue persuade me"
Mary, you are missing the serving size in your recipes.
I 5hought you were going to show us how to prepare a meal in a bag
👍😊❣️
I appreciate the information but have to listen on x2 speed.
I checked out the recipes, sadly our house can’t eat it. The carb count is just too high for a diabetic not on medication.
Well, there aren't many items that are shelf stable that an entire meal could be made of that are shelf stable.
