There is so much information he is giving, you can’t comprehend it all if you watched this video 10 times. You have to break it down in sections. Setting in your studio, for many days. What a wealth of knowledge he has. Great video! Would love to hear more form him in a future video.
not thru at all, lot of good techno video productions out there, either they are not finished works, Techno means experimentation, trial and errors, improvisation and emotion + more, so they are a lot of guys like me i.e. doing experimentation or improvisation, it does not mean we can´t do a good track but it means we are showing the birth, which does not mean we can survive :-), if you are interested on learning, apparent mediocre works have lot of knowledge to share between lines reading. This video only show the final steps of the track, which is not bad, but the birth of a good creation is even more important :-) i agree no so pretty :-)
this dude is the best ! his ears are insane everything sounds so lush and well mixed, each tune blends insanely well with eachother. I got a chance to hear him live once it was insane
I get different ideas using synths and drum machines than I do AU/VSTs. I use both but prefer mainly hardware. I will re-record VSTs to hardware about 60% of the time.
of courses but with samples, from where did you think the samples libraries come from :-) all is hardware, but as well it needs to be polished digitally again in the way to finish a product which can suit the standard of the today public´s demand, the good is that everybody can do a try, if you own hardware that´s good if not, it is not a big limitation if you got the ART just buy samples or get some free ones and you are on the go
Same type of character of who mocks professional athletes when they make a mistake, when you're on the couch or in the stands with pie and peas? yeah i know the type.
A lot of kids that have only listened to electronic music for a couple of years come here expecting to learn how to make one of those mainstream banger basses.
Lots of useful tips here for those that wish to dig into it, and yes, he has a ton of great gear. But not everyone is going to like this music. Why is that bad or wrong? Personally I think this track is fairly well _produced_ but as is typical with today's mainstream / Berghain techno sound, very minimalistic and undercomposed. And boring. Yeah, it's boring. Gimme some Ceephax, Vince Watson or British Murder Boys then we'll talk...
Good work ethic, it's all gone a bit too precise these days though, still hard for most releases to get near any of the iconic albums back in the day, i doubt those lads were overly worried about frequencies. Sometimes it's good not to know, fine balance ha
I would love to have somebody with your mindframe to listen my music, i fight with myself while trying to catch up "modern" producion, mostly ruining the vibe i made in the "dirt"..
thank God it wasn't corny ass EDM. this dude is old skool progressive house. reminds me of like Jonathan Peters, junior Vasquez, edie baez late 90's house. miss those days.
+Sem Nee I love how ppl wanna argue over what exact type of genre they think it is....techno, Edm, progressive house, trance etc; whatever. all I said was this track he is working on REMINDS me of the late 90's progressive house.
Sometimes the arguments seem masturbatory and for many they are, but if the music is your profession then you need to understand the distinctions between modern definitions of genres in order to discover and produce sounds that are pleasant to the ear and will mix properly. This isn't intended as an attack or a holier than thou attitude, just explaining the importance of the distinctions and how they can help you if you ever take an interest in similar endeavors.
Great tutorial Matador, excellent use of outboard equipment instead of all digital plugin's. One bit of feedback you kept using the word perimeter, the word you are looking for is PARAMETER.
Does Matador makes almost Hardware Live jams (Seems he got enough HW for Jams). Smth like "Florian Meindl". Would be very interesting to know and to see.
He does play live as well as DJ sets sometimes. Obviously not the whole studio, but does play live a lot. Dunno if it’s completely 100% Dawless but deffo has decent hardware going live.
They are on angle so it does not matter. But the reason could be because of desk reflections, placing them that high on the angle will keep the tweeter on ear level and minimize the reflections from desk.
***** i´m from Spain Sorry it is my Artist psuedo name, my name is Fernando Monreal, we shared some reflexion and opinions a few month ago about EDM catchy songs, if i remember well, perhaps it was under my original Name Fernando Monreal,
Why does he have such good equipment but only use 400 € speakers who can´t proper display the sound from this awesome Neve? Neumann, ATC, PMC would do this job way better.
Unfortunately he spent to much money in music production but he should be away from it , due to his little talent. Its hard to be harsh on him (probably a very good person in live)but no point to say amazing things about his tunes.

I've been watching this video for 3 years already, helped me a lot. Thank you guys!

Good lord, what a beautiful studio.
One of the best features I've watched. Thanks!!!
35:06 "really putting manners on that stuff so it is" - what a great way to put it
That was a Masterclass, very nice. Saw Matador playing at the DEMF in Detroit and he killed it.
this dude is the best ! his ears are insane everything sounds so lush and well mixed, each tune blends insanely well with eachother. I got a chance to hear him live once it was insane
Hazy Mind he's so fucking good live!!
Seen him live in Sydney absolutely brilliant!
I was really excited when this EP came out. This track and Remember were both in my playlists so I'm glad to see coverage of how it was constructed.

You can do better? what's your producer name bro
Same type of character of who mocks professional athletes when they make a mistake, when you're on the couch or in the stands with pie and peas? yeah i know the type.
opinion, not fact.

Matador sei un Drago! respect! great personality, luxury studio environment, big guy.
Reminds me of Alex Higgins the snooker player. If anyone knows who i'm talking about on here i'd be impressed.
the hurricane!

BRILLIANT
quality, great artist
great work, and years of dedication as well ART of courses
pretty sure the producer he wouldn't is Deadmau5. people from the techno scene shouldn't be afraid to admit they like deadmau5.
Fatal Friction Deadmau5 has a Techno Alias called Test Pilot, his track beneath with me with Kaskade and Skylar Grey is very Techno'ish
Very interesting!
Dope set up
Nice setup!
my man is high AF...
thank God it wasn't corny ass EDM. this dude is old skool progressive house. reminds me of like Jonathan Peters, junior Vasquez, edie baez late 90's house. miss those days.
It's techno though
+Sem Nee its tech house ,yall both right
+John Gorgis I would say more like some kind of minimal techno, he's signed to Minus. Whatever. Great music that's what it is haha
+Sem Nee I love how ppl wanna argue over what exact type of genre they think it is....techno, Edm, progressive house, trance etc; whatever. all I said was this track he is working on REMINDS me of the late 90's progressive house.

Which DAW is he using ?
Great interview...

heck of a bedroom studio!
Great tutorial Matador, excellent use of outboard equipment instead of all digital plugin's. One bit of feedback you kept using the word perimeter, the word you are looking for is PARAMETER.

The 5088 had me like :o
Which effect is used on the SH-101 ?
Why are the monitors placed like that?!
They are on angle so it does not matter. But the reason could be because of desk reflections, placing them that high on the angle will keep the tweeter on ear level and minimize the reflections from desk.
que laptop usa ? porfavor
17 thumbs down? Why's that?
because this video was to complicated for dimitri vegas and like mike, so they hired people with ipads to go around and thumbs down the video

yes i agree, nice
Nice bedroom studio
This guy knows his shit!
Why does he have such good equipment but only use 400 € speakers who can´t proper display the sound from this awesome Neve? Neumann, ATC, PMC would do this job way better.
Matador means killer/assassin...
Specifically a "torero". A bull killer in Spain or Latin America.
Brazilian?
si señor, bull figther
matador is the top bull fighter, the one dress with gold thread
10:44 matador kardeş bılıgiyla oynuyor
Great producer and guy but I feel he has more of a 'nerdy' approach to production - over complicates alot of simple techniques
andrew bermingham yep, my thoughts exactly
Well his songs are great hence it is ok
He is High ...
he looks high.
Thought the same. He has a lighter on the desk and an ash tray underneath beside his precariously placed mug in fairness. You might be right.
asid
get flume
Whats that ?
CAN I GET SOME +1 FOR THE SLIPPERS BOYS! 😁😁😁
eh
I could hear the Dublin accent
Ketamine lol
Generic. No matter how much beautiful Neve and SSL you use, if shit goes in, shit comes out.
of course it's fun watching him but yet again they're telling us shit..
91st viewer 😂😂
All these cool synths to make generic house.. lol. Talk about overkill.
the vocals are so pathetic xD
He’s obviously gay.. look at his body language
so what?
Ok ...you have a very good gay attenna
Jealous pussy.😊
Unfortunately he spent to much money in music production but he should be away from it , due to his little talent. Its hard to be harsh on him (probably a very good person in live)but no point to say amazing things about his tunes.
Yes .... and you gather a big public... 😂😂😂
@@arjanpetersen Yes of course, I had huge concerts during Pandemic "World-WiLD" :D
