This tutorial changed my design experience entirely! My sales department thanks you (I'm a presentation designer).
Oriell, go to the top left corner of your menu bar, next to the polygon lasso icon. You will see 4 squared selection options. Make sure that the second little double-box selection is selected. It will say "Add to Selection" if you scroll over it. The polygon shape will not delete if you don't have that tool selected. Watch how the selection tool automatically switches to the first icon >"New Selection" when Kev switches out of the polygon lasso tool into the rectangular marquee tool in the next step. You are basically adding a clear polygon shape to the left layer, so it appears to be cutting the tab out of the rectangle. Hope that helps.
Very impressive...i can tell you were making it up as you went because you could have copied and pasted the first triangle after you were done adding all the effects.... Outstanding!

Also, for viewers, if the shape you create with the polygon lasso tool doesnt delete but deletes the entire rectangle instead, rasterize the shape. Took me a while to figure that out.

Great tutorial...I'm pretty seasoned with photoshop and was able to create even a few more short cuts! I ended up using in a chalkboard art project I'm working on! Again, fab' video for those that are pretty familiar with Photoshop! Thanks!
I found that using a darker color of your main color for the triangles are better. Nice vid helped me allot!
What i had to do (since we used the shape tool) is to right click on the layer you want to delete that selection from then click "rasterize layer". That will let you delete. but since it is raserized it will not scale like a vector image. So basically sizing it up will just blow up pixels.
press "Ctrl + T" to be able to expand the image or size it down, hold Shift while doing that so the image stays the same dimensions, and also make sure your selecting the right image on the layer
make sure to connect the lines together with the lasso tool so that its selected area and then make sure your on the correct layer of that shape

make sure the layer is Rasterized and that the area selected is correct and that it makes a selection with the moving lines effect, if that doesnt work idk then sorry

of course you could change the color! xD
Just double click the object layer and select Color Overlay and choose a color.
Or go into the Adjustments window and change the Hue/Saturation :)

How did you even out the edges on the grey shadow with the selection tool? I thought i heard some keystrokes with that action.

Have you tried right clicking the layer and selecting "Rasterize Layer"

is there any other way to warp this ribbon..? like in illustrator we just have to add the value of how much curve we want... it's too hard to warp manually ....
I have created for years, but never past just the few tools in my photoshop elements 6.0. So, is it possible to make banners for some online shops, BUT using the clients items and merging them with the template I have. (I almost need to show you what I mean), so let me watch ALOT of these videos and maybe the answer is there. TY

Very clear and easy to follow except that when trying to cut the triangle out at the left hand side, this does not work cause every time I create a shape (CS5), PS creates a vector mask (in the layers panel: colored square, followed by the little chain and then a rectangle with my shape on it - vector mask thumbnail) and upon deleting, it deletes my entire shape... Any idea on how to change this? Thanks!

When i press "delete" on the keyboard it deletes the layer, not the selection
Rasterize the layer you're going to delete...that's how I did mine.

I NEED HELP! whenever I try to make the indent of the ribbon to make it look like a ribbon with the polygon tool I make the shape and when I press delete it says "Could not complete your request the content of the layer is not directly editable." How did I fix this?

at 6:55 you delete the edge with the polygon lasso tool...when I do that it deletes the whole layer. I selected the right later made the polygon and clicked delete, but again it deletes the whole layer...any help?

Just checked your tutorial. its gud and easy as well. But could you please upload some videos about shadow and BG effects.
Also new to PS.. Using cs6 with the layer selected and making indent shape with the lasso tool, its deleting the whole layer not the selection when I hit the delete button. Any suggestions on how to delete just the selection?
