dude, i remembering getting this one when it came out. my dad worked for a radio and so he brought home a lot of cds everyday. i took it because of the artwork and i listend to this record every day. all day. i remember falling asleep to pay the man..
It's funny how our musical tastes change, but yet stay the same. When this came out in 1998, The Offspring was my favorite band but this was my most hated song. 15 years later, I still like The Offspring a bunch, but really, really love this song.
heretic600 I was really into Smash and Ixnay when I was 13-14. Then Americana came out and suddenly all the cool kids listened to The Offspring and Pretty Fly and Why Don't You Get A Job were everywhere, and I just didn't really like it. I just listened to this album for the first time in probably 15 years. Still think it nothing special (not compared to Ixnay), except this song! Wow! I guess I should check out all the later albums now.
Not so much a shame, just appreciate it more 'cause of how rare it tends to be. This kind of song isn't something you set out intending to write, it kind of happens all by itself by accident while you think you're trying to write something else :)
I like the switch from electric to acoustic guitar in the later courses. "Oh, Shut up you talk too much \ Pay the man now, yeah! \ Shut up you talk too much. Oh..."
@mart7887 Yeah, they actually wrote this song while writing "Ixnay on the Hombre." However, they thought it was too different to include on that album.
Look for come out and play by the offspring. Also some songs from their first album got that sound. Agent Orange is one of the first Californian punk bands used this kind of sound to their songs.
HOLY SHIT thanks for replying to my comment this comment is sooooo old and makes me realize how much of a dick I was then HOW THE FUCK did i get 33 likes for this
For real... This is the best Offspring song in my opinion... Masterpiece!
And still is my friend
True
I think this is definitely one of their best songs.
Same!
THE best.
3 minutes to first lyrics, 5 minutes till the song takes off.
Awesome, awesome shit and one of the best rock intros to a song ever.
The intro to the heavy part of this song made me quit trumpet and pick up the electric guitar. Still rockin, never looked back. Fuck yeah, Offspring.
this song is amazing, underrated
Easily my favorite Offspring song. First heard it in high school, still listen to it to this day.
The in our souls part is my favorite
This intro is literally everything
I liked it since 1998. Still love it.

Might be the best one from The Offspring !
This is my favorite song from this album.
@kaberna I couldn't agree more with you. This CD is still top 5 of all time for me.
Me too!! It's definitely one of my top songs by them in general though.
Perfect
These guys are so great live. Lost my virginity the night I saw them . I feel like they were partly responsible. Thanks guys :P
Probably my favourite song by them
MASSIVE TUNE!
i really wish there was a shortened version of this where it was that and onward
A melhor do álbum!!!!!
Had RUclips minimised with this playlist going. About halfway through this song I thought, "Hang on, is this Offspring or Tool??"
Pretty nice.
This is the offspring saying '' its not our usual stuf but this is what we can do ''
Like Limp Bizkit's Everything
I love the instrumental
In a whim of nostalgia \m/
Buenos recuerdos con esa rola
I love how nobody is talking how this song has the longest intro ever
Completely agree!
2:21 to 2:49 just blows me away
I like the switch from electric to acoustic guitar in the later courses. "Oh, Shut up you talk too much \ Pay the man now, yeah! \ Shut up you talk too much. Oh..."
Great Song ! Offsprings equivalent of Limp Bizkit's Everything
Good song
Great LSD song 🙏
It was no bother my friend, i enjoyed every bit !
@mart7887

you're a soul
defo my favourite:)
It just sounds like a guitar, bass and drums to my ear. Layered guitars. I believe I hear two.
every single time
Days by days when was young lisen to this album ´till finally comes this track... it´s an approach to the Progressive Rock
epic song
Kewl, Janes Addiction sounding
Chris Harris I was just thinking that
4.58 🤙🤘🖖🎧👊👯💃🕺🤺
Pay the man already!
Have you ever thought ,what the album cover means?
All Along Things Are Really New
It sounds like from the Band "The tea party"
definitely should have ended on ixnay
best part of song 4:53
"This is life, what a fucked up thing we do."
Now I choose 👊🏻
3:10
I have this tattoo
does anybody knows wich instruments are used in the intro?
thumbs up if you bothered to listen to the whole thing
şu pank olayını zamanında bırakıp, böyle kafalarda daha çok şarkı yapsalarmış keşke.
@Janovjev ok thank you for the co operation
uhaaa! qe sommm
best 8:09 of my life:)
@Janovjev no no not at all i love this song its just some people dont even bother to listen to the whole song
@MuKappa220
I prefer the beginning. The rest from there on sounds like any other Offspring track. It's all great though. :D
Best part 2:47
They could have done such great modern surf if they'd worked at it more.
Bu tarz terkedilir mi be hajı... heyt be liseli gençlik.
what genre would you guys put the intro in? It sounds kinda eastern to me. Where would I have to look for more of the music found in this intro?
Hah, first thing that came to my mind = Tool - Reflection, but not sure...
Definitely an eastern influence. Check out Thievery Corporation with Lebanese Blond.
Cool ^^
I dunno, my limits in music range sucks but try Mint Royale - From Rusholme With Love, maybe that's associative..
***** Will do! Thanks for the suggestion!
Look for come out and play by the offspring. Also some songs from their first album got that sound.

i meant who aprreciated the whole song
Shyla and Avril
no i mean some people don't appreciate the whole song
bizim kasap havasını dinlemiş olmalılar :)
@wizardguy82 Ah,then my apologize, your statement is misunderstandable, you have to admit. :P
Damn, it´s def not like what they usually do, i even prefer this style! (i think they prbly had just taken nice lil drugs and this is the result ^^)
HOLY SHIT thanks for replying to my comment this comment is sooooo old and makes me realize how much of a dick I was then HOW THE FUCK did i get 33 likes for this
"bothered"? That makes it sound like it was an unpleasant experience...
dumb concept to put it all on money, you can not keep banknotes operational forever, paper is still paper...
Shut up!!! Y'all talk to much!!!
