I am hoping they will do this too! We are just.getting ready to start playing and I already know that if there was "another 10 levels" available with 2 new characters or whatever I would totally be buying all of them! The way they have many, many, many versions of Red Dragon Inn itself gives me hope!
You're the reason I've got it and I've had a lot of fun with it. Although I haven't been able to let go of the 2 characters I'm playing with to try the others - I just really liked these 2.
this game is so good. I outgrew RDI but still enjoy it on occasion, but this is right up my alley. would love to see scenario packs and character packs.
I really like that it doesn't take itself too seriously. The theme feels light and fun rather than grim dark theme. There are so many grim dark that the theme in this is a great change. Character progression, without spoiling anything, is over all the missions as it should be for a dungeon crawler. I wonder if they could create a way to play one-off missions. It's been a while since I've pulled this out, so I can't remember if that's possible currently. But it'd be neat, once you are done with the campaign to mash the map for mission X with the enemies from mission Y. I'm sure some combinations won't make sense, but it would give some renewed life to the game. That said, I'm still playing through it but have taken a break to try out other games on my shelf of opportunity. Mostly to know if I can get rid of some games to make room. This one is definitely staying and will be played more.
@@HungryGamerReviews such a concise summary of my multi-line description. Lol. But, yeah, could even go a little beyond and have events and such with their unique humor.
Yes Yes! Great game in every aspect. We had a blast playing threw the campaign and didnt find a single negative. The Rules are very easy to get into and slowly grow to keep the gameplay interesting. I really hope there will be new characters and maps for returning backers. Best Game to hit our table in 2023.
I've just learned about this game and am SO EXCITED. Our kids and I love Gloomhaven JOTL. Two girls, 15 and 13 and one boy 9 1/2. We just finished playing it and WANTED to play Gloomhaven "next" but are going to wait on Gloomhaven 2.0 to come out which is like March 2025 or something. I missed backing it and am thinking of just waiting until it's on Amazon or I can get it directly from Cephalophair next summer at this point. Anyway, I started looking for other games "similar," and found Tales from The Red Dragon Inn! School starts back in a week and we won't have 20 hours a week to game anymore. (I teach at their school so we're all home all summer together.) But this looks so amazing!!! It gets rid of all the things I DIDN'T like about GH - tracking mana, setting initiative, figuring out enemy attacks, tracking everything, and leveling up separately (absolutely annoying with kids) - but has everything I love! So yeah, I'm excited!!! Thanks so much for the great review!!
I got this and initially enjoyed it very much, however after about 6-7 missions it got a bit ‘samey’ and I ended up selling it. The amount of tokens (sheets and sheets) that you keep getting for every new mission was crazy. In the UK it was very pricey as well for a box and contents that is almost entirely cardboard.
Ive got the last 2 scenarios to do been doing a chapter each weekend. Very good game in regards to flow which is something Oathsworn failed at and ultimately made me drop that game. Difficulty feels good as well been playing on veteran and havent had many issues (tbh I should probably put it up to legend). Only failed one and that was due to an objective failure due to repeated very unlucky dice rolls. Only had 1 scenario which I found boring and would skip on future playthroughs. Its straightforward enough that pretty much anyone can play it even children but like you said its not just a dice chucker there are many small but interesting decisions to be made. My only gripes are no quick reference table (that I have seen) to show what vault items are unlocked and archived for each scenario making it harder to jump into later once if you care about parity between that and campaign. Few spelling mistakes and grammar issues in the campaign books (very minor stuff) and my main issue is the stands for the standees cut into the paper of them damaging them each time you slot them in. I enjoy the story and its very digestible but id say its only good in the context of `for a board game`. Likely to be the second campaign game I ever finish and the first was not a very long one and unlike the other one I wouldnt mind going through it again with others. If they ever do an expansion id take a look. Its not the easiest game to get in the UK however. I got it at the UK games expo and I only saw 1 copy. All the stall owners I talked to had never heard of it and just assumed I meant the red dragon inn card game. Even the one I found it at the assistant said she had never heard of it but luckily I spotted it on the shelf.
Great dungeon crawler. Plays smooth. Needs more heroes and one off scenarios separate from its campaign. Sooo many tokens so get the game trays ready l!
Fantastic game, got it after watching one of your reviews, finished it in about month playing 4 characters solo. You could fail forward by choosing to assume you won anyway. I think there's only two items in the whole game that require anything more than advancing to the next scenario to get.
OK So since you said you really like "Battle For Greyport", Can you suggest a GOOD tutorial video on this game? I have it and WANT to play it right. Or did you make a tutorial on it?
Would love to see them add scenario expansions. Just a few map packs and some new standees and you are all set for some more adventures!
Yup. I'd buy that 💯

Better play with 3 characters then!
@@HungryGamerReviews Aw man... now I have to work out who to pick. Fiona and Zot/Pooky were just so easy to pick.

How challenging did you find playing all 4?
@@HungryGamerReviews Not hard at all due to the random activation mechanic and limited ability to help other Herero's other than by positioning.
