We made it to NOW! 116… wow! Despite not having as many hits as NOW(s) 114 and 115, I think it’s a solid attempt at rounding off 2023. I love the dance-oriented hits on CD1 with tracks from Calvin Harris, Peggy Gou, Kylie Minogue, Issey Cross just to name a few. Despite the amount of non-charting songs on here which may be not to everyone’s liking, I like the fact we’re still incorporating No.1’s from Olivia Rodrigo, Doja Cat, Kenya Grace and Billie Eilish. My favourite track on here is “Strangers” from Kenya Grace, such a cool drum ‘n’ bass cut! I’m not so keen on “MIND YOUR BUSINESS”.
Yeah this is probably my second favourite numbered NOW of the year, as it's marginally better than 114 though still not as good as 115 in my opinion but I still really like it. 'Strangers' isn't a bad song at all and I agree on your opinion on it too, it's a nice relaxing song to chill to isn't it? I also really like the Luke Combs cover of 'Fast Car' on here as well and it's better than the Jonas Blue cover that's on NOW 93 and I think I even prefer it to the original Tracey Chapman version too! 'Million Dollar Bill' is of course a cover of the Whitney Houston song which of course appeared on NOW 74, and other songs I would like to give an honourable mention to on the album are '(It Goes Like) Nanana', 'Angry' and 'Single Soon' and I agree about 'MIND YOUR BUSINESS' not being very good either, and it's between that one and the track before it 'VULGAR' as my pick(s) for the worst song(s) of the album. Asides from those two songs I wouldn't say there's really a bad song on the album 😊
Now 116 is pretty good, though doesn't beat Now 115 in my opinion.

I completely agree Joe, I really do like this one though I do think 115 is better. For me it's a toss up between 'VULGAR' and 'MIND YOUR BUSINESS' for my worst song choice on the album, though 'What Was I Made For?' Isn't far behind them. Thanks once again Joe!
Great video once again. I do really enjoy this album despite my disappointments with the tracklisting - but more so what didn't make the cut rather than what did. I think my favourites are 'vampire', '(It Goes Like) Nanana', 'Tension', 'Disconnect', 'The Weekend', 'Until I Found You', 'Angry', 'bad idea right?', 'What Was I Made For?', 'Black Friday', 'My Love', 'Your Side Of Town', 'Heaven' and 'Fast Car'. I cannot lie, this Lana Del Rey song is not too bad, eventhough I wasn't aware of the song's existance. My least favourite is probably 'VULGAR'.
I definitely think 115 was miles better though, and I do prefer 114, maybe since I really enjoy disc 1 (despite not being too keen on disc 2).
I am hoping to see songs that didn't make the cut for this album in 117 such as 'greedy', 'Prada', 'Used To Be Young' and 'On My Love', and eventhough she disappointingly didn't make the cut with 'Dance The Night', I am sure to see 'Houdini' on the tracklist too.
Excellent! I can’t wait to buy it, although there are a couple of songs missing which I was surprised about including Raye Prada, Taite Mcrae Greedy and Tyla Water
Yeah I was surprised about those being missing too, I think 'Greedy' and 'Water' will probably both be on NOW 117 next spring 🙂

Fun fact about Agnetha other than being a memeber of my main favorite band ever (ABBA): She is also the mother of the underrated pop sensation, Zara Larsson 😍

Now 116 marks the guest appearance of Madonna, however Madonna didn't appear in all the numbered Now albums from the 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s, except she was mentioned in Now 66 by Robbie Williams and Now 73 by Alesha Dixon

Hi Rob, great video once again, and I want to apologise for not responding to this video sooner. I had hoped to do so, but tons of life-related things got in my way.
Anyway, while NOW 116 is an alright album, it's perhaps in my opinion the weakest of the 2023 NOWs, which is especially shown in the fact that various songs like Dance The Night, adore u, Water, Greedy and Prada are missing, (although to be fair, I think the latter three, alongside On My Love by Zara Larsson and David Guetta might show up on NOW 117) as well as the rather high amount of non-charting/non-Top 40 tracks, although there are still some actual good ones from that category, more so than actual Top 40s, of which there are 22 of them on the whole album. And no, I didn't even see the inclusion of VULGAR coming. Oh, and the fact that they could have easily slotted in more tracks on CD1 due to its short length.
Some of my favourite tracks on the album include Desire, Vampire, Strangers, (It Goes Like) Nanana, Tension, Million Dollar Bill, Disconnect, Bittersweet Goodbye, Asking, DNA (Loving You), Good Love, Drinkin', Snooze, Until I Found You, Beside You, Windows, Angry, bad idea right?, What Was I Made For, Gimme Love, Feel It, Voodoo, These Are The Days, BLACK MOONLIGHT (which is a banger of a tune, and a nice surprise to see Duran Duran back on the main series), Your Side of Town and Fast Car.
Overall, this ends 2023 in terms of the NOW series, which I wanna wish a belated happy 40th anniversary to, it's an album series that will always hold a special place in my heart, and I can't wait to see what 2024 has in store for the main numbered albums.

And yeah I think you're dead right, a lot of the songs that missed this album like 'On My Love' and 'Greedy' will most likely show up on NOW 117 next spring! This is a good album though still, though 115 is better 😊
Very good video once again, This album starts off with Desire, And ends of with a song by the legendary Agnetha Fältskog from ABBA called Where Do We Go From Here.
Some songs like Houdini by Dua Lipa, Lovin On Me by Jack harlow and Greedy by Tate McRae didn't make it though.
Yeah, they'll all show up on NOW 117 next spring probably! 😀

As usual, I welcome feedback of any kind, and I hope you like my choices.
That's a really good track listing I have to say and if the real one is anything like it I'll be pleased, 'Stick Season' has to be CD 1 Track 1 doesn't it surely? Also I do wonder if 'Dance the Night' has finally been cleared to appear on it too? That would give Dua Lipa a double appearance of course if 'Houdini' is featured as well, and Dua Lipa has had two double appearances now of course as she appears twice on both 105 & 107 as well as a triple appearance on NOW 96, so I wouldn't rule out a double appearance for her on NOW 117 🙂
A good album I must say 👌 though 113, 114 and 115 are all much better for me as this one has only half the album with songs that charted in other words, I only got half of my predictions right. 117 surely should do with most of the songs that missed the cut for this album but again this one is still good with no doubt 😀
I respect your opinion here, though I prefer this one a bit more to 114 I still don't think it beats 113 and 115, and I totally get you on the missing songs as well, as to be frank there's a sackful of songs missing like 'Sprinter' , 'Who Told You?', 'Dance the Night', 'Barbie World', 'Greedy' and a few others as well, and like yourself I was expecting a lot more songs from the Barbie Soundtrack as well and it does make you wonder that the NOW team may have only had the rights to go for one song from the film, so they went for Billie Eillish. I would've rather of them gone for 'Dance the Night' though if I'm honest! On the plus side it's nice to see the likes of Rick Astley, Rolling Stones, Duran Duran, S Club and the Sugababes who all have their first NOW appearance since 19, 29, 31, 56 and 75. I also really like the Luke Combs cover of 'Fast Car' too, and it's my favourite version of the song so far I think, bettering the original Tracy Chapman version as well as the Jonas Blue version which is on NOW 93 of course. Also, wouldn't you say 'Beside You' sounds awfully similar to 'Chase the Sun' by Planet Funk? My full rankings of the NOWS 110 onwards would go, 115, 113, 110, 116, 111, 112, 114.
@@robertatkinson1347 that's ok and I respect your opinion too 👍 the likes of Greedy, Prada, Used To Be Young, My Love Mine All Mine and On My Love surely should be on 117 most definitely and I do agree about Beside You being similar to Chase The Sun too and as for the Fast Car versions, my favorite one is from Jonas Blue with Luke Combs my second favorite and Tracy Chapman's version third though all are good👌 my rankings of the Barbie songs would have to be:

Speaking of Billie Eilish as well and the first half of CD2 for that matter, I'm not a fan of tracks 2-5 and 7. My best to worst 110s Now album rankings would be: 115, 110, 113, 111, 114, 116, 112 as I find 110, 113 and 115 superb as well as 111 and 114 with this one and 112 both being pretty good but far from superb/gold. You have great rankings of those Nows too 👍 and I take it you find this one about on par with either 110 or 109 and 11 too 👌

Strangers, Disconnect and Bittersweet Goodbye are examples of great DnB (Drum & Bass) songs, seeing as that genre is my least favorite EDM genre, followed by Dubstep 😀
Surprised about Siobhan Donaghy being on a now
‘Tis that time of year again. 116 is still a pretty good album of the year but 115 is miles better, and 114’s disc 2, imo, just about brings it above 116. I was very surprised that we only got 47 tracks this time, especially since disc 1 is only 70 min. I was also surprised by the lack of some of the actual chart hits, including the omission of Dua Lipa or any of the other Barbie songs (except Billie Eilish, the only barbie song featured here). I don’t necessarily think that this is all NOWs fault. For example, I don’t think D.O.D (So Much In Love; Won’t Forget You) and D-Block Europe (Prada) were going to get licensed anyways.
My favourites of disc 1 are: Desire, vampire, Strangers, (It Goes Like) Nanana, Tension, Million Dollar Bill, Disconnect, DNA (Loving You), Drinkin’, Until I Found You, Never Gonna Stop, Beside You, Windows
I don’t have any dislikes but the middle of the disc (14-19) certainly holds some mid songs, like SZA and Nicki Minaj, although I do kinda like the songs by Post Malone; Olivia Dean & Leon Bridges; and Stormzy & RAYE
My favourites from disc 2 are: Angry, bad idea right? (slightly better than vampire imo), Black Friday, MIND YOUR BUSINESS, Keep Going Up, Feel It (Club Edit), Voodoo, Single Soon, Mr Right, BLACK MOONLIGHT, Your Side Of Town, Blindside, Fast Car
My least favourite is ‘What Was I Made For?’. I actually didn’t mind VULGAR too much. The only song I thought was really mid was When The Rain Comes.
Overall, a great album to close of 2023. It does have its flaws but it is what it is. I hope 117 can have some of the missed opportunities for this time - and also not have “40th anniversary throwbacks” like 102-104 - but due to difficulty with licensing, I’m not all too bothered. As long as the tracklisting itself is above average, which here it was imo.
Great comment, I totally see where you're coming from there and I do prefer this album to 114 however you're right the track listing to this one could've been better. I was expecting more songs from the Barbie Soundtrack too, disappointing that 'Dance the Night' missed out, I would have preferred to have it on here over the Billie Eillish track. Here's hoping the NOW 117 track listing is better than this one, and I certainly wouldn't say no to it being a better overall album as well, though I still really like this one though again, I certainly agree with you that it definitely isn't as good as 115.
Despite this album having 17 non charting songs it’s honestly not that bad but it doesn’t beat the last 2 nows though. Surprisingly it starts off with Desire which wasn’t even a top 5 hit and cd2 starts off with The Rolling Stones - Angry which only charted at 34 and only spent one week there. There were so many songs i expected to see on this album that didn’t get on for example Dua Lipa - Dance The Night, Gunna - umean, Tate McRae - Greedy, Chase & Status - Baddadan, Troye Sivan - Rush, Burna Boy - City Boys and Jorja Smith - Little Things just to name a few. Dermot Kennedy also continues his streak of appearancing on winter nows since his debut and it also continues the streak of winter nows having more songs on cd2 than cd1 and Madonna makes her first ever appearance on a numbered now album.

I would give this album a 6.5/10 it would’ve been better if it didn’t have that many non charting songs. I know it’s nice to have some non charting songs but 17 is way too many non charting songs.
Yeah seems to be a regular thing on NOW albums these days, unlike 10 years ago when NOW 86 was released I'm pretty sure every song made the top 40.. with the exception of 'Gorilla' by Bruno Mars, which only peaked at #62!
@@robertatkinson1347yeah like the MID now 98 was the last now album to have all songs chart in the uk and the lowest charting song on that album was Grace by Rag’n’Bone Man which only peaked at #83 on the charts.
@@scarrdlungz9749 that is correct, the only other song to chart outside the top 40 on that one was 'The Man' by the Killers which peaked at #63.

NOW! 117 has been revealed! I love the candy themed cover. The tracklist is looking strong even though its missing tracks like “Prada” “Now And Then” and “Cruel Summer” although I think the tracks by The Beatles and Taylor Swift would be difficult to license. It’s a shame because The Beatles haven’t made a numbered NOW! appearance and Taylor Swift hasn’t appeared on the series since NOW! 99. Apart from those, I’m happy with the tracklist!
Yeah I really like the cover too, another song I've noticed that is sadly absent is 'Whatever' by Kygo & Ava Max which is a shame!
@@robertatkinson1347”Whatever” by Kygo & Ava Max would’ve made a great addition to the tracklist, especially due to all the samples used nowadays, and the resurgence of 2000s hits! Let’s hope it makes it onto NOW! 118, as I think it will continue rising up the chart.

Now 115 always makes my day whereas this one doesn't do it that fully for me as it's nothing spectacular but it's still good and isn't anything bad. 117 still has to be better though I respect your opinion if you prefer this more to 114 👌

@@robertatkinson1347 I also think the only thing 2021 and 2022 have over 2023 for Nows is that the second best Now of a year is better, as in 110 and 111 are better than 114 in my case, even though 111 and 114 are on par whereas 2023 has the best worst Now of a year, in my case 116 if not on par with 112 whereas 108 isn't too far behind them and 2023 also has the best strongest Now of a year, that one being 115 if not on par with 109 and 113, even though 110 is still on par with those three too 👌

@@robertatkinson1347i can see 117 beating 116. However I think 113 is still gonna remain my favourite NOW from 110 onwards. In fact I’ve noticed that out of all the years this decade 2022 seems to be the only one we both agree on the best NOW of that year.

In my opinion, this album has a weaker tracklist, especially CD2.
Going back to Ice Spice not appearing on here with Barbie World (ft. Nicki Minaj), she is my second least favorite female artist after Billie with Lana being my third, Olivia my fourth and Cardi B my fifth and as much as Avril is the original and better version of Olivia, she is also the better version of Billie with no doubt 😍

Yeah I had to do some digging to realise that it was indeed an album track from her debut studio album, as my first thoughts were that it may have been a new unreleased song by her.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing as well, one thing I do know though is that 'Angry' is the second lowest charting song to begin CD 2 of a NOW, second only to 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' on NOW 48, as that song missed the top 40 altogether, peaking at #42 I believe.
I think Queen - Too Much Love Will Kill You, the first song of Disc 1 on Now 33 might be the lowest as it only made number 16, though if anyone has seen anything lower, then let me know.

Yeah it's not too bad at all, and although this album is still really good, I don't think it has the strongest of CD 1's but it still isn't too bad, I actually think CD 2 of this one is actually really quite good 👌

Yes me too I thought they would have included it as well, hopefully it'll turn up on NOW 118 in the summer though, and I was also hoping for 'Now and Then' by the Beatles as well but neither track was to be sadly. Still like the look of the track listing though I think it looks a pretty cool album 😎

Other than that however, the album is most definitely ace and is on par with 109, 110, 113 and 115 if not slightly weaker than 115 👌 this means that although 111 and 114 were superb as spring Nows, 117 is even better 🤩

It may come as a surprise to hear me say this as well but I now like Lana Del Rey more than I used to despite the fact I'm still not a fan of her music but is still ok 👌

Yeah I probably agree though there isn't an awful lot between them, personally I think the best Pretenders song to appear on a numbered NOW is 'Hym to Her' on NOW 9, with 'I'll Stand By You' on NOW 28 second best, those two songs are certainly better than both 'Let the Sun Come In' and 'A Love' though the latter still aren't bad 👌

@@robertatkinson1347 I agree 👍 I think Another Love (from Now 85 and Now 113) is the best song from Tom whereas Real Love (from Now 89) and Black Friday are on par and I do find this album to be on par with 89 if not slightly weaker as well with 85 being much better than those two and I would say that I now find it on par with 86 if not slightly weaker though I always found it to be slightly weaker than 86 really but I always really liked it 🤩 however I still think 113 is much better than it as it really is superb
