Impressively quiet and amazing charging time. Bjørn in Norway managed to get it charging at 316 kWh a couple of times at IONITY. I wonder how the noise level compares to a BMW iX, that’s the quietest vehicle I have every been in, that includes Mercedes Maybach, RR Phantom and Bentley Mulsanne. Will you test an iX?
Nice test again, but I belive range result is not correct. The reason is that Xpeng G9 DOES NOT show you the complate trip average range consumption, just the last part. So if you drive fast, and then slower at the end the range result is to high since consumption is to low. Specielly in this kind of test with not a fixed speed.
@@ItsOnlyElectric it looks like it does, but in reality it just show the consumption for the last 50km or something. ( not documented by XPENG) Bjørn Nyland did a test to prove it. If you drive slow for a distance and then fast you will end up that based on consumption the battery is larger than they claim. What was the total distance on test, the WLTP rated range at start and the WLTP rated range at end? (since it is missing percent this is the only way to prove it). This is common by the Chinese brands to only show average consumption on last 50km
Hello. Very nice test. I would like to ask which car, regardless of the parameters, is more pleasant and comfortable for you? Which one would you choose xp. G9 or Nio EL6? 🧐🤓
Great idea, I totally understand. I had both cars pre-ordered. I finally chose one of them. It was a difficult decision, even though it wasn't actually completely up to my free will. I will write a comment under the upcoming video. Thank you.@@ItsOnlyElectric
What does the EL6 really get besides battery swapping and a HUD? You're still stuck to a subscription and if you purchase the battery + interior packages you're paying more than the G9 top trim + interior packages (Dutch prices). I checked out all competitors to the G9 and in the end picked the G9 because it's just so much more value. Didn't really have to doubt about the EL6 in the end. The G9 comes with air suspension, better efficiency, way better charging and a passenger screen. Fast charging is just so much more practical than the swapping until Nio gets enough infrastructure with good European charging infrastructure. And to do that Nio needs money, so they need to charge more for their car. In the meantime it's inferior at charging (but still okay). Seems like something that's impossible to maintain.
what do you estimate for a realistic range for the standard version? I belive you can charge that battery type to 100%... kind regards and keep up the great video's!
Hej 👋 As always, great review, I'm looking forward to see your channel growing and getting all the audience it deserves 😊 This G9 is a beast, charge wise. Can you imagine, being above 80% SOC and keep it running at 180kw... incredible. EV future looks bright.. and fast ⚡
@@Burbn2k You do understand that if the car can achieve such loading speed, that's because it's meant to be. The more the EV will advance in tech, the faster they will charge up. (and also the more energy density of the batteries will be up, but that's another topic here) 😉
@@SeeliLeck3r depends how well "it's meant to be" is tested... before release. @@ItsOnlyElectric tack! Hoppas jag med! Men det är onekligen utifrån din test och allt annat jag sett - och min egen provkörning - en oerhört kompetent bil för pengarna. Kommer från en e-tron sportback -22.
In a fair comparison to the EL6, the g9 is more expensive by $16,000, but that leaves the g9 with a slightly larger wheelbase, (the wheelbase on the el6 is big enough for adults too in my opinion) and air suspension, (the el6 has very comfortable suspensions and most likely the complaint will be that they even too soft) Another difference is that filling the electricity in the g9 takes 5 times longer, in terms of autonomous driving hardware it has two less normal sensors and no lidar sensor, the rest is pretty similar, choose for yourself.
If you buy the el6 with the big battery it's the exact same price as the G9 Performance. That's a more fair comparison I think. Agree regarding the suspension both very comfortable the adaptive dampers on the EL6 are surprisingly close to a air suspension when it comes to comfort.
But why would you buy with the battery? It's giving up the whole idea of NIO. You also save 80 percent of the additional cost of a larger battery with upgrades and downgrades.
If the version number follows that of China, then XPilot 2.5 is a few generations behind. It's been superceded by XNGP in China. Maybe the highway NGP will find its way to Europe soon.
I would be very interested for you to try and get an entry level G9 with the smaller battery. To see if it feels lacking like a 75kWh MODEL X or whether it stills feels like a great buy for the lower price.
Interesting idea 💡 The everyday difference is almost none when it comes to range since you charge the LFP to 100% compared to 80% for the NMC, it's only on long trips you see the difference. 80% of 570km = 456km LFP range = 480km
@@ItsOnlyElectric I did not know the entry level G9 was LFP are you sure? If so great! Lot of money saved and as you say daily needs covered fine and then some.
@@ItsOnlyElectric You are correct. Google "The entry-level G9 is powered by a 78.2 kWh LFP battery that enables a 570 km (CLTC). The RWD version also has a long-range version, equipped with a 98-kWh battery and a 702 km range. The G9 4WD has the same 98-kWh battery, but its range is limited to 650 km due to higher energy consumption.29 Aug 2023" Entry level for the win! I said that...!
Can't do a range test in sport mode with one car and eco with another. That's part of the charm with electric performance cars, they can all be economical. It's all about Software
Just a calculation: Scenario 1: 4 adults on a weekend trip (80kg x 4 + 40kg luggage) - OK Scenario 2: 2 adults 3 kids on a weekend trip (80kg x 2 + 50kg x 3 + 50kg luggage) - OK Scenario 3: 5 adults on a trip - Very hard. Will work if average weight per adult is 73kgs abd without luggage.

@@ItsOnlyElectric I think its an added feature, the Zeekr 001 does I think by default and works great, like Tesla. These days it can help much in case of agression or accidents.
Looking to test the IX but BMW Sweden doesn't seem to provide me one for the moment. So I'm looking for alternatives.
@@ItsOnlyElectric if you lived in Norway I’d lend you mine.
It shows the consumption since start, so yes it's the average consumption for the whole trip.
What is the range on 19" wheels?
Add approximately 15km per inch. So 30km extra range if you go for 19" instead of 21".
@@ItsOnlyElectric Thanks. That should mean real world range over 500km in 20 - 25dgC. Pretty good!
@sanjaygupta666 yes. 👍
Hello. Very nice test. I would like to ask which car, regardless of the parameters, is more pleasant and comfortable for you? Which one would you choose xp. G9 or Nio EL6? 🧐🤓
I'm working on a detailed comparison between those cars...stay tuned, don't want to spoil it. 😉
Can someone do a video demonstration with android auto on the xpeng g9 ? Via Carlinkit?
I think Xpeng is getting android auto support very soon.
@ItsOnlyElectric We are not sure. That's why I wanted to try with the Carlinkit..
Testing the G9 in a coulple of weeks with the latest software, stay tuned
Nice!! Thank you!!
whats the cost of replacing the battery?
Don't know, but always expensive to replace batteries outside the warranty .
what do you estimate for a realistic range for the standard version? I belive you can charge that battery type to 100%... kind regards and keep up the great video's!
I would expect the same consumption as the long range version and a range in the same conditions of 375km.
My fave Electric SUV ❤
Great video, even better than the one for the G6, great cars, hope they will, show the way to the european carmakers
Thanks mate
Hej 👋 As always, great review, I'm looking forward to see your channel growing and getting all the audience it deserves 😊
This G9 is a beast, charge wise. Can you imagine, being above 80% SOC and keep it running at 180kw... incredible. EV future looks bright.. and fast ⚡
Tack! Heart warming words!
It indeed is a charging monster, imagine how the updated version with 480kW will be 🤯
I hope this is tested well in China 😅.. because doing 180kW while the battery is 80% isn't recommended, but good for the consumer.
@@Burbn2k You do understand that if the car can achieve such loading speed, that's because it's meant to be. The more the EV will advance in tech, the faster they will charge up. (and also the more energy density of the batteries will be up, but that's another topic here) 😉
New chemistries and battery management will increase charging speeds even more in the future. The same car is able to charge at 480kW in china.
@@SeeliLeck3r depends how well "it's meant to be" is tested... before release. I hope people are aware of the amps they are sitting on while its charging (personally as an automation engineered i dont usually sit in the car while I charge) I own a Tesla M3😅to scared of thermal runaway in these Chines made products 😂 but i am looking to buy a G9. Just need so more months on the road to verify if this is the next gen SUV in the market i am looking for.
this vs the model y performance which is faster 0 to 100 in the real world?
That will be really tight! Comparison on the way.
You were making use of summer tires??.. Wow.. The Xpeng is so silent than the EQS SUV, for just half the price, single glass windows, no Acoustics window. Great efficiencies (88%) of the claimed range
Yes, it actually blew my mind when I saw the results.
@@ItsOnlyElectric I hope you got to test the G6 as well.. Hopefully, Zeekr vehicles with the updated NIO vehicles
@faithosadebe5293 tested the G6, but not safe stretch. 1700km test. And realising my range test of the ZEEKR soon. Tested most nios too.

Good work, thankyou! I take a chance with Xpeng - i Will pick my g9 performance in kaitoke green up in just 14 days in Örebro. 😱
Snyggaste färgen också! Hoppas du blir nöjd
@@ItsOnlyElectric tack!
It's easier to compare apples with apples that way.
If the version number follows that of China, then XPilot 2.5 is a few generations behind. It's been superceded by XNGP in China. Maybe the highway NGP will find its way to Europe soon.
Yes, never version and better hardware available on Chinese cars.
Do you know if there are other upgraded to the G9 in China (in respect to the pre-upgrade version)?
👍Tack! Väldigt fin bil, hade jag haft cashen hade jag köpt long range rwd bums😊
Bra review 🙏🌹
Ja, den är väldigt prisvärd!
Tackar
about the overspeed bips : "the good thing is that NIO has [...]" nice lapsus 😄😄😄
G9 the new boss 😎🦾🥇🫡
Elle est tre bien mais je fais quand même attention au détail
Any specific details?
I would be very interested for you to try and get an entry level G9 with the smaller battery. To see if it feels lacking like a 75kWh MODEL X or whether it stills feels like a great buy for the lower price.
Interesting idea 💡
The everyday difference is almost none when it comes to range since you charge the LFP to 100% compared to 80% for the NMC, it's only on long trips you see the difference.
80% of 570km = 456km
LFP range = 480km
@@ItsOnlyElectric I did not know the entry level G9 was LFP are you sure? If so great! Lot of money saved and as you say daily needs covered fine and then some.
@@ItsOnlyElectric You are correct. Google
"The entry-level G9 is powered by a 78.2 kWh LFP battery that enables a 570 km (CLTC). The RWD version also has a long-range version, equipped with a 98-kWh battery and a 702 km range. The G9 4WD has the same 98-kWh battery, but its range is limited to 650 km due to higher energy consumption.29 Aug 2023"
Entry level for the win! I said that...!
😉
Is that 80% target only for DC charging or also AC (slow)? Ordered a performance model but if that is the case I might want to change and save money
The Xpeng does not have HUDs ☹
Yesz unfortunately not
XPEV Good
It's charging overrides everything
So you buy a performance version of a vehicle, then recommend putting everything into ECO setting. Perfect thinking for an electric vehicle person 😂
I need to, to be able to create a consistent comparison.
Can't do a range test in sport mode with one car and eco with another. That's part of the charm with electric performance cars, they can all be economical. It's all about Software
Your speak perfect English
Thank you 😃
Go NIO...
We cancelled the car because of the weight load limit of 365 kg.
Yes, I get that. Really strange that it's so low?
Just a calculation:
Scenario 1: 4 adults on a weekend trip (80kg x 4 + 40kg luggage) - OK
Scenario 2: 2 adults 3 kids on a weekend trip (80kg x 2 + 50kg x 3 + 50kg luggage) - OK
Scenario 3: 5 adults on a trip - Very hard. Will work if average weight per adult is 73kgs abd without luggage.
@@ItsOnlyElectric yeah Iam 120 kg and 205 cm so not so easy. I liked the car alot better then all the others. I have not tried the new Nio el 6 yet or maybe there is coming somthing good in 2024. its not easy too find a ev that fit a tall family + dog.
@stalehelvik6316 205...that's not easy! I'm 193cm and 90kg and have problems with a lot of cars.
@@ItsOnlyElectricso of all the cars you have tested in 2023 are best good for you as the driver when you have long legs.
EV range and consumption tests below 120km/h are all nonsense
Haha..why? Under 1% of my total driving consists of speeds over 120% and I think that goes for over 90% of the world's population.
…what a BS comment….😂😂😂
