For those who are are not aware that Andy Summers is one of the greatest guitarists, here's some proof of his amazing PinkFloyd/JimiHendrix inspired lead guitar playing. Also, Stewart Copeland gets a chance to flaunt his prowess. This is one of the best songs a POLICE fan can ever hear. I cannot compare anything to this stuff. It's a gem! (Golden dreams of a golden age)

Exactly. They were there as studio musicians. They didn’t even know Andy. Sting and Stewart had just met not long before. As soon as the three of them started playing together, they were like holy shit! And the rest is history.
Andy Summers plays mesmerising lead guitar. Stewart Copeland proves his key role as the finest drummer of his time!

I'm floored! I read an article that this band existed before The Police and I kinda thought it was a joke but sure enough it's not. 🤯
I believe The Police already existed but with Padovani on guitar. This is one of the gigs where they played with Andy before he joined
I don't know what happened, why they went on without Howlett, but I definitely think these 4 guys should have stuck together, because, SERIOUSLY, this is every bit as good as any of the Police classics. All the ingredients we love the Police for are here, plus the chemistry between Howlett and Sting definitely cooked: vocally already, plus, honestly, Howlett can craft a killer tune, such as this one.
Maybe that's the point. Mike was as good as Sting, and we all know how Sting's personality is. He didn't want to do something in somebody's shadow.
And, at least, I respect Sting so much, but I just know that The Police didn't break without a reason...

Howlett is an incredible bassist, songwriter, producer, he just breathes music!
Sting brought Stewart because they needed a drummer, and Andy was brought in by their mutual manager. It was recording the sessions as studio magicians when they met Andy. They didn’t know Andy before this. The three of them realized how good they were together, and the rest is history.
