Thanks for sharing a great video. Many of the places you visited, including Grizzly Falls, Hume Lake and most of the Kings Canyon Scenic Byway are actually in the Giant Sequoia National Monument, administered by the Sequoia National Forest. It might not seem important but National Parks and National Forests are managed differently and managers are always trying to help the public understand what those differences are.
Agree. The two blends together. Sequoia and Kings Canyon are administered together by the National Park Service. Different rules apply for National Parks and National Forests even though many times, they are right next to eachother.
We recently went to Visit this beautiful Canyon... OMG!!! Words cant describe how truly beautiful this place is.. We visited the places you suggested.. awesome place
General Grant, grizzly falls, zumwalt, hume lake has good views too, there are other watetfalls. Oh and a hill between chicago stump and the beginning of the canyon drive has a 360 view of cool. It has a road closed sign in front of the trail. Giant sequoia everywhere, some hollowed out by fire like big tee pees and you can relax there. Its good.
I was there today - unreal!!! The only bad part was the part of the road that takes you to your #1 is still closed due to snow and washouts :( Still my favorite park so far
Very true that Yosemite has the more spectacular views but the mass of people in spring, summer, and fall just makes it so much less enjoyable, unless you hike deep into the trails.
Sequoia is right next to Kings Canyon. Visiting both in one day would be rushing it but feasible. You won't be able to stop very much. Check out my blog entry for tips. journey2allnationalparks.com/parks/kings-canyon-national-park-the-other-yosemite/ journey2allnationalparks.com/parks/sequoia-national-park-giants-standing-guard/
No doubt, the best part of Kings Canyon NP is the alpine eastern sierras only accessible by hiking. I suggest entering via onion valley campground on the eastern slopes of the sierra. Having hiked most of the Sierra Nevada, this is my favorite area to visit.
Mist sounds like a lot of fun! How does it compare to Vernal Falls trail at Yosemite? We didn't go on that because 8 miles is more than what we wanted to do at the time. I'm glad you mentioned it!
Finally a video on kings canyon. Thank you for posting. We are going to Sequoia but I wanted to know what is in Kings canyon. I will definitely visit this place.
ExploringCalifornia it doesn’t get as much attention as Sequoia next door but it is just as wonderful! Make sure you go at the right time of the year to avoid road closures.
Forgot to ask, but any of the shorter trails like the 1.4 mile trail accessible or legal to use a small electric scooter? I'm thinking about my wife's mom who is disabled. I know she would love visiting Kings Canyon.
cell phone service is spotty. I set the destination and direction when I have cell phone signal on google maps and as long as I don't disturb it, it will give me directions even outside of the cell phone range. It will not reroute you while out of range though. In general, Google Maps is not very good inside the parks.
These are the Vehicle top sights. Much of the John Muir Trail is in Kings Canyon, There are several 14,000' foot mountains in Kings Canyon. Kings Canyon Park is mainly for backpackers. That is how you see the best sights in the park. It also includes Evolution Basin, Ionian Basin, Center Basin, Humphrey's Basin, The Rae Lakes Loop etc. Here is a great hike. midsierramusing.blogspot.com/2017/08/kings-canyon-national-park-mist-falls.html
I agree the short Kings Canyon video is based on car touring. I can only imagine the beauty of the park for backpackers because the descriptions sound fabulous. We are not even campers, never mind backpacking, and we typically don't do more than about 6 miles on a hike (wish we could but....)
Cool video guys, were out to see all the N. Parks as well. 13 so far this year. 👍 Check out our channel if younget the chance, we subbed. Looks like you hit a Jack pot with this video.
this video should be labeled the top four spots you can reach in flip flops within sight of the car. In fact these wouldn't make a list of the top 100 spots in Kings Canyon.....ya gotta get out of the car though and plan on some overnights. This was like just scratching the surface....I don't even enter Kings Canyon from the west side....too much of what you showed...people and cars.
I would suspect / expect the best scenery to be where you have to do backcountry hikes to. However, some of us can not do multi-day backcountry hikes (anymore). True, the sights here are visited by car with short hikes but they are still all beautiful. Kings Canyon is under rated!
Nailed it on the head those are the 4 best spots in Kings Canyon!
Thanks!
Serene and peaceful... kings canyon is a must-experience place for anyone! Found this video useful 👍🏻
Thank you! King's Canyon is away from the crowds and very beautiful. It's underrated as a National Park
It is definitely a better experience than world's edge national park... hopefully someone gets the reference
Thanks from Switzerland for sharing these wonderful landscapes
Looking forward to visit within the next couple of years. Grant Grove is on my bucket list to visit.
Got to see the big trees in person to appreciate how truly big they are!

The road closed trail has no sequoia and few trees. Makes for the good 360 view.

Nice video, helped us a lot. Thanks!
Nice video. Short and to the point. Thanks.
I've done numerous backpack trips into King's Canyon National Park. It's an awesome place.
Yes. I wish we can do backpacking trips into the back country. Kings' Canyon would be a great choice for it.
Excellent video!!!!!
Thank you very much!
Thank you for the visiting info.
You are welcome
thanks remembering the places my dad took me when i was a child,
My dad took me hiking when I was young -- nothing very strenuous but it got me interested in hiking. Glad it brought back memories
this was very helpful for my upcoming trip in May ...
May is a great time to visit!
It is useful information.
Glad it was helpful!
This is a GREAT video. I can’t believe I live so close to this and have never visited.
Caroline Thompson that was two months ago. Go now.
I am taking my vacation. From Minneapolis to go see these trees mainly.
Just subscribed, thanks for posting this

Glad you enjoyed it!

Wow thanks for the information.
Fleur D. You are welcome. Do you plan to visit?
Yeah thanks we r planning to go to sequoia national park
Great 👍
Gorgeous! Thanks for visiting!
Our pleasure!
True it is a gem of a park, far less crowded than Yosemite. Still, Yosemite is crowded for a reason: it offers the most (the more) spectacular vistas.

@@JourneytoAllNationalParks Not during covid-19! LOL, cry, cry, cry.

You didn't mention the Mist Trail which is probably the best hike there.

I don't know of any restrictions on electric scooter.
Question. Did you have cellphone service to navigate through the canyon with Google Maps?

Is that shirt blue devils drum and bugle corps?
It's just a normal Duke shirt, not specifically for drum and bugle corps
👍👍👍👍

This was early May
