The truth is, we take most of these things for granted. There are so many choices, and I speak for myself, I just tend not even to notice. I just block most of it out. It’s also worth noting, that even the amount of choices available, I still have to shop at more than one store to get everything I want. Not all stores carry the same items.
So true. I have to go to target to find the specific toys I’m looking for and I usually only buy snack foods and junk food from walmart and buy my meats and produce at my local grocery store or Aldi.
@@bonniefournier2430 IKR. I dont know why she did that. Its well known Walmart doesn't care that you film in their stores. And its not a simple employee's business to go up to customers and tell them they cant film. I hope they at least corrected that employee if not fired her.
The fun thing about these reaction videos is rediscovering our own country through the wonder struck eyes of foreigners. Honestly I have not visited the bakery and ice cream section for maybe 4 years and have forgotten to appreciate the size and convenience of Costco and Walmart. I mean I know all the stuff is there somewhere but I just rush to the aisle I want to get to and ignore the rest. IThank you Mert, this makes me once again appreciate US as the blessing it is
Creamer can be liquid or powdered. It’s a non dairy substitute to put in your coffee or tea Also it’s often flavored-French vanilla, mocha, hazelnut. Seasonal flavors are pumpkin spice, mocha peppermint
As an American you become numb to the amount of choices we have. We may have an extreme amount of choices but when I walk into any store I know what I need and keep to the necessities. It's only when I go into a store like Walmart with no list that I then over spend on things I may not need. A good tip these days is to order what you want online and just go pick it up or have it delivered so that you are not tempted by everything else in the store.
I have definitely benefited from Wal Mart’s grocery pick up. I’ll also say that whenever I RSVP to a formal event like a banquet or wedding and they have like three meal options I always feel relieved that my choice is narrowed down for me. Sometimes you get decision paralysis with all these options.
Well actually as a responsible American, I've been to other places in the world, lived another ways because I was given the education and opportunity to do so. In the 60s and 70s when the boomers were rolling around in their own feces at Woodstock And the 1980s when many were swilling Crystal champagne, putting cocaine up their noses... Some of us were doing other things. So I understand other ways of living, what's priority. That's what I chose to do with my "American privilege" So please don't dump me in your vat as an ignorant American Thane Q Forlettinme Be Mice elf
Caramel apples are common during autumn (September thru October) and during Halloween. FAT BOY is an ice cream brand specializing in novelty treats such as the over-sized ice cream sandwiches.
We take so much stuff for granted here in the U.S. Most of us hate going shopping at Walmart and when we get there, we complain that they’re out of things we want or need or they just don’t have a good selection. It literally takes videos like these to help us appreciate what we have.
Creamer goes in your coffee and it comes lots of flavors and changes seasonally. So pumpkin spice in fall. Peppermint mocha, gongerbread etc at christmas. But there are sooo many flavors that are year round.
Most syrup you find in the grocery stores is NOT pure maple syrup which is on another level of deliciousness. We're just used to this so we don't think about sizing, variety and that it's not just a few items that have many choices but everything. From brand names to store brands to sizing, flavors, dietary restrictions. We are the country of diversity and excess, lol. Creamer is a nondairy addition to your coffee to replace milk which comes in a variety of flavors like you could add if you bought coffee in a coffee shop. Walmart can be cheaper with some items, more expensive than others and run the same price but it's also dependent on where you are in the country. Some regular grocery stores can run higher but being able to buy in "bulk" can save you in the long run because the pricing can go up and down. I love shopping at Walmart because it truly is a one stop shop. I'll be going next week for tires and an oil change. If I hadn't already done a grocery pick up, I would've done my shopping while they worked on the car, lol. You can buy guns in Walmart but not in every store. This Walmart is seriously larger than the one where I am. Not all stores have to pay for bags as we don't here. The listed prices are not including tax. That's added afterwards and that percentage is different from state to states. There are some states that don't have a sales tax. Sadly I don't like in one of those states, lol.
Sales tax can vary from state to state, from county to county, even from municipality to municipality. That's why it's impossible to let foreign visitors know exactly what sales tax to anticipate when they visit the US.
Oh, also, certain items may be taxed differently than certain other items in certain areas. Some areas, for example, don't impose any sales tax at all on food items, while other areas do.
50% of Americans visit a Walmart in the USA weekly. The outer perimeter of a Super Walmart equals a 3 mile (over 4km). They have all manner of services--including banking, hair salons, full service garage, pharmacy, optometry services, outdoor/garden section, and different kinds of restaurants. The selections are pretty overwhelming. I always am amazed at people's reaction to shopping in the USA. One of my colleagues was from Romania. When her mother came to visit, she fainted in the middle of the store--just so overwhelmed with all the food choices. I laughed at the candy aisle. There is regular candy aisle--and then there is the holiday candy aisle. They did not really see the weapons area--that is another area different. Purchasing guns, ammo, and archery items. At least the insanity of Black Friday has moderated a lot--it was insane back in the day. There are a lot of 'interesting' people, depending when one shops there. It is still not a 1 stop store. For instance, I do not buy meat from there. Produce I buy from other stores.
There was a movie back in the 80s, Moscow on the Hudson, starring Robin Williams as a Russian circus musician who defects to America when the circus comes to play in New York City. It features one scene very much like the real one you describe, where Williams faints at the dizzying number of choices in the coffee aisle at a supermarket.
I don't buy my meat at Walmart either. Just remember, it's $4.00 a minute in Walmart.😂😂 Take a shopping list, then get in & out as quickly as possible.
@@garycamara9955 Clearly, you do not do the shopping in your household. Of course it sells actual food. Not a fan of the meat dept, but that is a personal preference--I prefer the local butcher.
FLORIDA MAN HERE! It's ironic to me that you said that if you lived here in the U.S. and had the kind of options that we do that you would get diabetes so quickly, because I was shopping for groceries today, and as I passed the bakery, I mused to myself that as adults, we have the ability and the right to buy an entire cake and take it home and eat all of it, but because we're adults, we are responsible enough not to.
Also in the past decade there has been so much zero-carb or low-carb talk that almost no one I know eats sweets except very very selectively. I have a good friend whose home bake business is almost ruined.
We go to Walmart, Target, Costco, Sam’s, and Whole Foods usually once, sometimes twice a month. Walmart is kind of a one stop shopping place for many Americans. The prices are generally lower than other places and as with many stores here, if you can show that the price of something is lower than the price the have on the product, they will match it and in some cases, add a small discount. You didn’t even get to see the gardening section, the pharmacy and drugs.. personal care, grooming, electronics.. laptops, televisions, play stations, and yes, in many places especially in the Southeastern, Midwest, Southwest areas of the U.S. store locations, you can purchase rifles, shotguns, ammunition, compound bows, arrows, books, boots and shoes, music, fresh cut flowers, meats and butchers, full bakeries etc.. there was an old joke that said something about “if you can’t find it in Walmart, you probably didn’t really need it.” Some of the stores have vision care to get your eyes checked and then purchase your contacts or glasses there.. small doctor’s offices, hair salons, Starbucks, Fast food restaurants.. I’ve seen people cruise around looking to meet people and even once, in Tennessee, I saw a wedding. (It seems they met there shopping or working..). I think the only other place as overwhelming for me would be Home Depot. I too like to walk through grocery stores, bakeries, etc.. in other countries to see what is popular in food, fashions, and other things in other countries when we travel. I find it fun to see what everyday people purchase, where they live, what they drive or how they commute. The local culture is as important to see as the art and architecture.
to be fair to the over zealous employee, it could be an instance where they figured if they didn't say something, they could potentially get in trouble themselves for not having done so.
Some Walmarts do sell guns and prices in general in the US do not include tax because every state, county, and in some cases even cities, have their own rules for what can be taxed or not taxed and at what rate. Ultimately it's impractical to mark items with a final price when they are distributed to thousands of different tax jurisdictions within the US.
@@ViolentKisses87some states do charge only for things like alcohol, “junk foods” and prepared stuff. When I travel, it’s always an adventure to figure out what different states and counties charge and for what.. Take care!
@@ViolentKisses87I live in Kentucky on the state line with TN and pay no sales tax on food, however I pay state tax which sucks. TN has a higher sales tax by 3% but no state tax and so many of them come to KY to shop for groceries. I think they get the better deal tbh.
The biggest problem you will find at Walmart is just trying to control yourself..Their prices are way cheaper than other stores which makes it even harder to control yourself.
I too like my French toast, waffles and pancakes with maple syrup. American here, and yes, we take for granted the abundance and variety of food choices here. Walmart was founded by US billionaire Sam Wall, hence Walmart.
When we go to Walmart, we expect to buy a bunch of stuff we didn’t go for 😂 They always have new snacks/products & the prices can’t be beat. And yes, I for one appreciate all the candy & options we have. Not just when shopping but restaurants, too. In a foodie town like mine, we are spoiled!
Sears was the pioneer of this sort of buy anything type of store . At sears you could buy everything from a sears brand car an airplane or even a house! ( Those were shipped to site) lol
Meh, I'd be bored because they are indulging in the worst; everything I don't buy now. They are indulging in sugary food and junk foods. I'd rather have cream instead of coffee creamer. I stopped in a Tesco in the UK and it had little choice of sport drinks, but unlike a US convenience store, it had fresh produce.
Hilarious? We’re doing it right now in the video and it’s beyond annoying.. 🤦♂️ they just keep saying “crazy” over and over and over.. acting way too dramatic also. It’s not that big a deal.. anything they are doing.. so many things they highlight and put in the video no one even eats or drinks.. like that Twinkie drink!? I mean, come on now🤦♂️🤷♂️🤯 that sounds absolutely disgusting and it’s absolutely dumb they made it to begin with.. but just seeing that people, outside of the United States, will just assume Americans like that.. 🤦♂️ I mean, they already think the United States is only like whatever they see in movies and on TV.. I mean Americans aren’t even like that when it comes to other countries, we know that movies and TV aren’t real for the most part. Seems like Europeans didn’t get that memo.. 🤷♂️ yeah call me a **** it’s OK..
@@nuclearpoweredbrain2211 there are tons and tons of stores in the United States that sell fresh produce.. and yes, I mean fresh fresh produce. I don’t know if you’re American or from outside of the United States.. but that’s a problem you thinking this. I have been shopping at Walmart for over 40 years. It's rare I see odd people (the weird ones in memes), but when I do spot them, they're a sight for sore eyes! LOL!
Caramel apples used to be at every state fair in the 1970s. It's an apple on a stick dipped in caramel, sometimes with sprinkled nuts on top. They are still available, but they're not as popular nowadays.
The snickers ice cream is actually better than a regular snickers and snickers is my fav candy bar. All the things on the shelves with the twinkies is junk food but so good. Especially the oatmeal creme pies.
In the US, every state levies its own sales tax. Plus, some local governments also add sales tax. It is virtually impossible retail stores to add taxes to the shelf price. BTW, the same rule applies in Canada. Each Canadian Province has its own taxes.
Hi you have seen in videos of the Walmart and how large it is, You have seen video of a Costco and how large it is. Costco is twice as big as a Walmart. But I think you would really enjoy seeing the New Zealand family going to the mall in East Rutherford New Jersey call The American Dream, It is the second largest mall in the US.😎
Cream/Creamers are what people generally like to put in their coffee or tea,, They have many different flavors as well,, Like Vanilla,, Hazelnut,, Mocha (Chocolate) and so on that are quite tasty.
This Walmart is in the Los Angeles area, so they are going by the state and county laws of what items they can sell. As for what is locked up, that may be a store-by-store decision depending on the area the store is in.
I used to work at Walmart overnight from 10:30pm to 7:00am. We closed at 10:00pm and it was only us working. Overnight workers is a huge job to do. I had to work on 3 different departments and stock up the products. We had to move super fast. It's not for the weak lmao.
The snickers ice cream bars has ice cream in place of the nougat, they're delicious😋 Also, it depends on the area you're in but in my state you'd never see anything locked up, they're in California so it's not surprising.
i go to walmart a couple times a week. one trip on like friday for my main groceries (think paper towels, dish soap, sandwich ingridents, dinner ingridents, milk, eggs, cat food, litter etc) and then will go back maybe mid week to get more produce or something i've run out of. you pretty much have an idea what you're after when you go, and can block out some of the other "noise" of like 50 flavors of chips knowing you're only after tortilla chips or something like that. the hostess cakes you were wondering if they were junk food or not, they are. some parents will pack them as a dessert or a special treat in their kids lunches. like if i had a big assignment one day, my mom would surprise me by putting something yummy in there. but i def. don't reccomend them for every single day lol but sometimes a honey bun and a coffee just hit different. i like walmart because instead of going to like 2-3 stores i can get all my shopping done in one place. and their clothing department isn't too shabby. i love their night gowns and can buy some decent warm winter clothes there without breaking my budget. and i LOVE their book section. my walmart has practically a mini bookstore and it's so fun to browse the books every time i go. they also have an excellent home goods section. their coffee maker ($19) works bounds better than my expensive one that was $100 for example. their in-house brand "main-stays" in incredible for home goods, bath towels, kitchen ware, etc. when i was moving, i was so happy to get my coffee maker for $19, a toaster for $11 and a blender for about $20. lmao never thought i'd be writing a comment praising wal-mart but it's pretty dang for what it is, if you know what it is and how to shop there.
We'll have to agree to disagree about their book section. Wal-Mart sells a lot of very, very bland publications, including whatever might be currently touted by the three morons in the morning on Fox News. If you're looking for something more offbeat, less mainstream, less upmarket, or anything that could possibly risk offending the very bluest of uptight, intolerant, ultraconservative bluenoses, it won't be at Wal-Mart.
In almost all the videos I've seen of people from other countries going to Wal-Mart or Costco for the first time almost all of them say something like 'how do you make choices about what to buy'.
Creamer is like milk for your coffee, but with huge variety of different flavors... I understand that coffee isn't as big in the U.K, but it's a event here in the U.S.
Beef jerky or pemmican originated as an easy to travel food item created by Indigenous peoples hundreds of years ago. Jerky or pemmican can be dried bison, beef, venison or other meat.
Maple syrup is naturally produced from the maple tree. Other tab look e syrups are mixtures that are also used on pancakes but less expensive than maple syrup. The product sizes are large because places like Wal-Mart and Costco are beneficial for large families and people who live far from a supermarket or shopping center. These stores are also convenient for parties and companies holding large parties or fundraisers. There is processed "American cheese" and natural American cheese. people from outside the US often confuse the two. Natural American cheese comes in white as well as orange. The processed cheese is usually orange. Best to buy the natural American cheese (noted on the package and freshly sliced at the deli counter). Creamer is a shelf- stabilized liquid or powder to add to coffee. Many come in a variety of flavors. It was developed as a quick substitute for milk or light dairy cream when the real dairy products were not available or when there was no refrigerator available. Non-dairy creamer is convenient for places like office coffee breakrooms or for people who cannot drink dairy. Non-dairy creamer vs real milk or cream is a personal preference.
I go regularly, but they don’t have everything I like. I have to run to the other side of town for certain favorite items. Wal mart is convenient sometimes for me because I live about 2 blocks away. I can walk there if my health will allow at the time. The one in our town isn’t quite as large as the one you’re watching. I live in a smaller town. A lot of times the convenience comes in when you need items other than food. Such as tape, cable ties, tires, towels, toys, storage containers, etc. you get the idea.
Apples and carmel is pretty good, we do carmel apples where the carmel is wrapped around the apple usually with nuts. Personally I prefer peanut butter and apples. High fructose corn syrup is in almost everything here including soda, it's really bad for you. You add cream or milk to tea, we add creamer to coffee. Prices in the US have doubled, tripled and more over the last couple years, everything but some things much more than others. People steal anything, and yes that's why they are locked up. There is always added tax to anything you buy, even online. How much depends on where you are and what you are buying but there is always tax. We do the bulk of our shopping at Walmart, I hate going there but 9 times out of 10 they are cheaper. Reactions like yours remind us how blessed we are, blessings.
I think that since we grow up used to having all the options we have we do tend to take a lot of things for granted because we feel like most countries will have the same options available to them as well
This is a Wal-Mart super store so they not only have anything you may need but they may also be open 24 hours. It's a one stop store and any thing you may need at anytime you may need it , you will be able to buy it.
All of the 24 hour Walmarts I know of in my state stopped being 24 hour when Covid hit, and they never went back. I think all of the ones here in Oklahoma close at 10 or 11pm now. May be some exceptions I don't know about though.
@@ParallaxusIt’s hard to find employees willing to work for minimum wage or just above it in many areas. On the opposite extreme, the hourly wage limits the number of workers.. they squeeze every penny out of the products and people..
I agree with the rest of the US responses. This is normal for us - there is nothing unusual in this video for us that we didn't grow up with. This is normal for us We don't spend hours in WalMart. We run in, get what we need, and check out. It's just a store for us. Creamer - many different flavors of cream for our coffee - sweet, vanilla..... there sew so many depending on the brand. Just please realize WalMart, Target, Sams Club and Cotsco are normal for us. For example, the maple syrup size she first picked out is a typical size for a horse. The size she pointed out for NZ would be for one breakfast. Most of us have the ability to store in bulk because we normally have larger homes and the space. I'm not a WalMart fan - I prefer Target. I haven't been in WalMart in about 5 years. But if I needed to go, I would go in and out (15-20 minutes at the most) to get what I want and leave. Always remember this is normal for us. We wouldn't be diabetic because we don't buy them if we don't need them for work, or kids school parties, etc.. We don't buy any product like you think we do, just because it's on the shelf.
In America, we call Walmart a one stop shopping center because you can buy just about anything you're looking for, ie groceries, clothes, sports equipment, oil changes, buy tires, home improvement items, kitchen, bedroom...anything. We are blessed in America but we tend to take it for granted unfortunately.

My favorite burgers are Sequoia burgers and the burger place at the top of the hill in Cloverdale. There is Santa Rosa burger as well. Mc Donalds ? Really?
Favorite potato chips? Personally, I like the generic Kroger's brand low-salt ripple chips, available at Kroger's grocery stores. I tried them because I need to watch my sodium intake, but I find that, without all that salt, the potato flavor really comes through, and they're delicious.
those syrups are closer to your Golden Syrup, just sugar water not real actual maple syrup. real maple syrup is more expensive and must be labeled 100% maple syrup
That's a Walmart "super center," their largest tier. Places like Walmart and Target combine department store with supermarket so they can put ALL the local shops out of business. Real maple syrup is made by boiling down the sap from Sugar Maple trees (40 liters of sap for 1 liter of syrup) and is fairly expensive. Most "maple syrup" sold is made from corn syrup with maple flavoring and coloring. Creamer is artificial half & half -- half heavy cream, half whole milk with a fat content around 15%. Milk is really too thin for coffee and cream alone is too thick; half & half is just right. All the products they showed are the big national brands but there's also local and regional brands. Lots of places don't charge sales tax on food.
i knew kids who'd ONLY have those items in their lunches. i wasn't allowed to buy them or pick them out but if i had a big assignment or test or something that day, my mom would surprise me with one or some other form of treat and a little encouraging note. i definitely they're okay as a little goodie every now and then, but definitely not something for every day, or even every week.
Caramel apples are fantastic. You will find the best at fairs where they are usually on a stick and warmed, coated in caramel and sprinkled with nuts. Candied apples are another thing but similar and also good.
walmart is excellent for vegetarian and vegan items!! and their produce department isn't too shabby. also i know american bread gets a bad rap "iTs JuSt SuGaR!!" lol but walmart's brand "great value" bread has very low carbs and sugars and calories. it's like anything else you just have to read the lables and pay attention. my aunt swore up and down and side ways she'd never shop at a walmart. moved to a small town and was shocked to discover the walmart was where she could get her vegetarian items she'd been buying at an expensive more "exclusive" grocery store lol
@promisemochi In in a small town too, so Walmart is the place to go for everything. When I first started going there they only had a couple vegetarian items. Now they have cases full. The only thing(s) I don't like about it is everything's from China, and that self serve checkout line.
Creamer is like the cream you put in your coffee -- but there are MANY different flavors -- such as hazelnut, French vanilla and many other types -- to really jazz up your morning coffee.
I grew up with my mom work8ng for Hershey food Co. So i was always spoiled with fresh candy from the factory to the employee store. I developed a big sweet tooth. It took until my mid to late 20s to be able to have self control enough to not always buy candy. However, every now and then i just have to have it. Im especially fond of gummy sour candy and reeses.
My mom worked for Tootsie Roll for 34 years, by age 12 I stopped eating it. The factory is close to our community, and she still have strong ties to the Company, they treat their retirees great, she can get discounted candy whenever.
Things available in Walmart, Food, pet food, electronics, sewing dept. Hardware Auto where you can have new tires installed on your car, oil changed, sporting goods, toys, garden center, Health & Beauty, Pharmacy where you get medicine, prescriptions filled, as well as what you call injections, we call shots for Covid and Flu. you can get your hair cut, you can buy eyeglasses or contacts. Many have a bank inside, and some have a fast food such as McDonalds inside.
One thing about the choice available to you in grocery stores and Walmarts is it will change depending on where you are in the US. The major brands you will find everywhere but you will also find region specific stuff and in some cases possibly state specific items. Edited to add that I think that most Walmarts don't carry guns anymore, but it will depend on state laws. I live in a very conservative state that has a lot fewer gun laws than California and they don't even carry air guns that look like real guns anymore. You can get ammo though.
My favorite chips are the classic Cape cod original. I grew up with them and they never disappoint. Those Kazbars just came out and they are too good, I have to stop myself from buying them every time I go to the store and they sell out quickly.
Many sizes of Walmarts say Super Center and it has more to do with the services offered at that location, than the size. That is not a very big Walmart.
My favorite chips are Doritos and jalapeno Cheetos. I love most candy bars. But if I have to narrow it down my favorites are Snickers, Reese's and twix. My favorite cookies are Oreos
Years ago, when Wal-Mart started getting the Super Centers, there was a saying, "if Wal-Mart doesn't have it, you don't need it." People take it for granted now, and it's not hard to choose, because you just get your favorites, so it doesn't seem like it's such a vast amount to choose from. It's interesting to see the comparison in someone that hasn't been there before and the experience of going there twice a week or more for years.
Tax is only applied to non-essential food items (soda pop, beer, etc) most non-food items. Not all states apply tax to items. Clothing is typically not taxed unless it is a luxury item or costs over a certain amount. Again, tax rules are different in each state. When you view your purchase receipt, the taxable items are clearly identified by a tax symbol next to it.
Fructose Corn syrup does come from corn. It's used to sweeten a myriad of food products. People who buy large quantities of things, like maple syrup, either have large families with teenage boys (I'm only half way serious) or, as in my experience, belong to groups or clubs who are having a big breakfast(s) event with their members coming up, so they need to buy huge amounts of eggs, orange juice, bacon, pancake mix, etc.
So that you know, I looked up the definition of what a Kramer is here in the states, and this is what it showed me creamer in American English . a nondairy substance that is used in place of cream, as in coffee.
We have so many different cultures here in the States and every culture has their own way of cooking. So our stores tend to have quite a bit of an International selection in stores....I actually didn't realize that our sizes of items were so much bigger than other countries until just recently. 🤷🏻♀
Doritos and Lay's are the most popular brands of chips, and each has a variety of flavors. As far as candy, there are too many to choose! Some top mentions are Reese's, M&Ms, Skittles, Sour Patch Kids, and Haribo or Trolli gummies. There are also a lot of candy bars. It depends on personal preference. That's one thing that America does great: There's so much variety that you can find that exact right thing for you! We sell things in bulk because it's cheaper per unit/weight, but there are also very small individual sizes when you have a limited amount of space or don't want to waste anything. Wal-Mart supplies lots of things, but not every location is the same. They've also started Wal-Mart Neighborhood Markets, which limit themselves to Food, pharmacy, limited petcare items and then cleaning supplies. They are about 1/3 the size of the regular stores. Not every store sells liquor or guns, and some have auto centers, some have garden centers, and some have both. I hope you're able to visit someday! Wal-Mart generally has items for slightly less than or equal to other retailers, but when our dollar store (Dollar Tree) raised their lowest price to $1.25, the items that used to be $0.99 at Wal-Mart were raised to $1.20. It wasn't really a necessary increase, but they did it🤷♀ When you do self-checkout, it tells you the total with the tax already added. Tax varies by state, so in Tennessee (Where I am) we have one of the highest taxes at 9.25%. But I wish it were included with the listed price!
I am a 64 year old American man, born and raised in Peoria Illinois, it's about a 2.5 hour drive from Chicago. Home of the cubs and the Chicago Bears NFL team. I have a Walmart 4 miles from me, and I have been there a thousand times. I mostly buy food there, but once in a while I buy other things too. I also have a Kroger grocery store about 5 miles from me. So I buy some things at Walmart, and some things at Kroger. Walmart does not always have the lowest price, sometimes Kroger has the same thing at a lower price than Walmart. So I buy what I need at the place that has the lowest price. For example, Walmart charges $4.99 for a 6 pack of the 16.9 oz. plastic bottle of Coca-Cola. While Kroger has them on sale for $2.99 each, when you buy 4 of them, for a total of 24 bottles of Coke. So I always buy my Coca-Cola at Kroger, because it is much cheaper than Walmart. So I probably buy half my food items at Kroger, and half of them at Walmart. Kroger has things on sale all the time, and they have digital coupons, so a lot of the time they have stuff cheaper than Walmart.
Regarding maple syrup, the vast majority of maple syrup you get in stores is maple flavored sugar syrup of some kind or other. The flavoring is usually artificial. Real maple syrup is the sap from maple trees that is boiled down to a syrup. Since there is so much water in the sap, to get the correct sugar levels means you have to boil 30 to 50 gallons of sap down to get 1 gallon of syrup. Not only that, but the sap cannot be harvested from the tree year round. There is a very specific time of year that it can be harvested, and a very specific set of conditions that are required for a good harvest of sap. Usually a two to four week period depending on conditions. The basic conditions are, that it is in the very late winter or very early spring. The temperatures need to be above freezing during the day, and drop below freezing at night. The maple trees begin to come out of their winter dormancy with these conditions and begin to send sap up from the roots to their branches to begin budding, which will eventually open into leaves and their flowers. The first sap that flows is what is harvested due to the higher sugar content and the amount of sap circulating from the base of the tree to the branches. Special tubes are hammered into the trees called taps. Then, pails, bags or in modern operations, pipeline to centralized tanks are attached to the taps to gather the sap. Large trees can have multiple taps.
There are lots of regional chain stores and independent places with just as wide a selection and stores just as big or bigger. But Walmart is famous for being a national chain, unbeatably cheap, and super cutthroat in business. Walmart can buy at such a vast scale that they get price breaks nobody else can match.
That lady had little to do growling about videoing
@@bonniefournier2430sounded like they had problems with people coming in and causing a disturbance creating videos for tiktok.
ALDIs and Kroger for me and a local store too.
IThank you Mert, this makes me once again appreciate US as the blessing it is
Creamer is for coffee. And being we love coffee, we have a huge selection of creamers to choose from.
Creamer can be liquid or powdered. It’s a non dairy substitute to put in your coffee or tea
Also it’s often flavored-French vanilla, mocha, hazelnut.
Seasonal flavors are pumpkin spice, mocha peppermint
Hazelnut is so good
I usually get hazelnut now, since, for some reason, I can no longer find amaretto.
There's like 25 flavors of Nestlé Coffee Mate creamers.
Most grocery stores have two cheese sections one is more commerical, the other is usually near the deli and has more expensive artisan cheeses.
I love Walmart, and often forget that other countries don't have all the options we do!
I absolutely hate Wal-Mart. I refuse to shop there.
I have not been in a Walmart store since early 2021...all pick-up for me
Well actually as a responsible American, I've been to other places in the world, lived another ways because I was given the education and opportunity to do so.
In the 60s and 70s when the boomers were rolling around in their own feces at Woodstock
And the 1980s when many were swilling Crystal champagne, putting cocaine up their noses... Some of us were doing other things.
So I understand other ways of living, what's priority.
That's what I chose to do with my "American privilege"
So please don't dump me in your vat as an ignorant American

I don't know what I'd do without my vanilla creamer!
Vanilla and hazelnut are excellent year round. Pumpkin and gingerbread are my favorite holiday flavs.
They don't sell food in Walmart, only snacks.
Sometimes.
Surprised the soft drink isle was not stocked very well. Our local Walmart has the shelves virtually full any time you go there.
lol…..you are totally right! its all on a whole different level and this was just part of the store! Welcome to America.
There is always one over zealous employee. Good thing they encountered a manager that wasn't as uptight.
to be fair to the over zealous employee, it could be an instance where they figured if they didn't say something, they could potentially get in trouble themselves for not having done so.
I don't believe any state charges tax on grocery food items.
Legend says The NZ family is still shopping. ------Angel
It would be HILARIOUS to be an American following these people around the store 😂
I love flavored creamer to put in coffee. Most of them are also sweet, so you just pour that in coffee and you're done. So many different flavors!
Why drink coffee then?
Your head would literally explode if you came here. If you come here, prepare your mind. I guarantee you will be overwhelmed.
The snickers ice cream bars has ice cream in place of the nougat, they're delicious😋
Also, it depends on the area you're in but in my state you'd never see anything locked up, they're in California so it's not surprising.
Many years ago (the ‘60’s), Walmart even sold aquarium fish. Not anymore.
Depends on where in California
Creamer is a cream substitute, and they make all kinds of flavored creamer, which is why they are so popular.
You have never heard of a caramel cover apple before? It's a big Halloween thing.
i go to walmart a couple times a week. one trip on like friday for my main groceries (think paper towels, dish soap, sandwich ingridents, dinner ingridents, milk, eggs, cat food, litter etc) and then will go back maybe mid week to get more produce or something i've run out of. you pretty much have an idea what you're after when you go, and can block out some of the other "noise" of like 50 flavors of chips knowing you're only after tortilla chips or something like that. the hostess cakes you were wondering if they were junk food or not, they are. some parents will pack them as a dessert or a special treat in their kids lunches. like if i had a big assignment one day, my mom would surprise me by putting something yummy in there. but i def. don't reccomend them for every single day lol but sometimes a honey bun and a coffee just hit different. i like walmart because instead of going to like 2-3 stores i can get all my shopping done in one place. and their clothing department isn't too shabby. i love their night gowns and can buy some decent warm winter clothes there without breaking my budget. and i LOVE their book section. my walmart has practically a mini bookstore and it's so fun to browse the books every time i go. they also have an excellent home goods section. their coffee maker ($19) works bounds better than my expensive one that was $100 for example. their in-house brand "main-stays" in incredible for home goods, bath towels, kitchen ware, etc. when i was moving, i was so happy to get my coffee maker for $19, a toaster for $11 and a blender for about $20. lmao never thought i'd be writing a comment praising wal-mart but it's pretty dang for what it is, if you know what it is and how to shop there.
Easy, you buy what you like!
Easy you buy what you like!
Creamer is what some people put in their coffee. I drink black coffee without cream or sugar so I don’t use it.
This is normal for us
We don't spend hours in WalMart.
Spicy Doritos and Funyuns are my favorite chips and my favorite candy is sour worms and laffy taffy (just not the banana flavored one lol).
When we transitioned to having an a la carte line in sixth grade I’d often just have a bag of Funyuns and a Yoo-hoo. Seriously underrated!

Favorite potato chips? Personally, I like the generic Kroger's brand low-salt ripple chips, available at Kroger's grocery stores. I tried them because I need to watch my sodium intake, but I find that, without all that salt, the potato flavor really comes through, and they're delicious.
Apples dipped in caramel or liquid candy(candied apple) yum
Caramel Apple pies are Amazing. Every time I go to the store that has them, I auto buy one.
those syrups are closer to your Golden Syrup, just sugar water not real actual maple syrup. real maple syrup is more expensive and must be labeled 100% maple syrup
As I live in Vermont, I only buy real syrup, unless I use it for baking, then I buy the cheap fake brand.
Hostess Twinkies are essentially junkfood. Kids usually have them included in their lunchboxes. My mother never bought them for us. 😅
They're so artificially sweet tasting, that I don't see how anyone other than kids could like them. I liked them as a kid, but not nearly as much now.
i knew kids who'd ONLY have those items in their lunches. i wasn't allowed to buy them or pick them out but if i had a big assignment or test or something that day, my mom would surprise me with one or some other form of treat and a little encouraging note. i definitely they're okay as a little goodie every now and then, but definitely not something for every day, or even every week.
We had hostess cupcakes, with the cream filling.
Walmart is one stop shopping.
Legos are not always locked up in Wal-Marts though👍 . . . Star Wars Millennium Falcon versions are a popular pick up.
We have a closet in our house just for bulk toilet paper and paper towels. Really comes in handy
Caramel apples are fantastic. You will find the best at fairs where they are usually on a stick and warmed, coated in caramel and sprinkled with nuts. Candied apples are another thing but similar and also good.
Yes. Are prices have increased but Meijer may sell it a little cheaper unless there is a sale somewhere else. I shop at Meijer which is similar.

I actually get my vegetarian foods and fruits and veggies for my bird at Walmart. It's not all junk food. 😉
walmart is excellent for vegetarian and vegan items!! and their produce department isn't too shabby. also i know american bread gets a bad rap "iTs JuSt SuGaR!!" lol but walmart's brand "great value" bread has very low carbs and sugars and calories. it's like anything else you just have to read the lables and pay attention. my aunt swore up and down and side ways she'd never shop at a walmart. moved to a small town and was shocked to discover the walmart was where she could get her vegetarian items she'd been buying at an expensive more "exclusive" grocery store lol
Creamer is for your coffee, or tea.
Walmart also has a warehouse store kind of like Costco which is larger and carries many different items. It is named Sams Club.
Taxes vary from State to State.
I worked at a theme park that had the ice cream vending machines with the candy bar flavors and they would sell out sometimes 10 or more times a day!
Creamer is for coffee, and it comes in a wide variety of flavors, so you can flavor, cool, and slightly sweeten your coffee at the same time.

My favorite chips are the classic Cape cod original. I grew up with them and they never disappoint. Those Kazbars just came out and they are too good, I have to stop myself from buying them every time I go to the store and they sell out quickly.
I also like the brand of chips he grabbed, they are similar to Cape cod in texture but have more flavors and they are cheap.
That's only a medium sized Walmart. You should see the big ones.
They are in California at the biggest Walmart in the state, it even says super Walmart on the sign.
Many sizes of Walmarts say Super Center and it has more to do with the services offered at that location, than the size. That is not a very big Walmart.
Actually Walmart doesn't sell food where I live, only snacks. Our grocery stores are fairly large, there are some smaller family owned stores as well.
Here in Nebraska there is no sales tax on food in a grocery store like Walmart. We also don't pay for plastic bags here.
they didn't need to either, you have the option of pressing Zero bags, not like the scanner makes it so you only have one option on bags.
Same here in nor cal
If I have to self checkout, I will just abandon my cart and walk out. They don't pay me to work there, so screw em.
As a now type 2 diabetic I pretty much only go around the outside of the grocery section in Wal-Mart where the dairy, meat, and fresh produce are.
I livevin the U.S. and I happen to like European chocolates❤️
Clothes are taxed.
My favorite chips are Laura Scudders Barbeque chips. I havent seen them in years. We only seem to get the crappy Lays chips.
I try to avoid corn syrup.
Creamer is a non diary product for coffee. It comes in all sorts of flavors. At this time of year the flavors of creamer are intense.
And gross
So that you know, I looked up the definition of what a Kramer is here in the states, and this is what it showed me creamer in American English . a nondairy substance that is used in place of cream, as in coffee.
Creamer is either in powdered form or liquid and is used in coffee as a substitute for real cream.
Garden Salsa Sun Chips mate.....trust me
We have so many different cultures here in the States and every culture has their own way of cooking. So our stores tend to have quite a bit of an International selection in stores....I actually didn't realize that our sizes of items were so much bigger than other countries until just recently. 🤷🏻♀
Every state and then every county and city can have a different tax so when you check out that is added to the total
Creamer is for coffee and different flavors also
I am a 64 year old American man, born and raised in Peoria Illinois, it's about a 2.5 hour drive from Chicago.
7:45 No, that's not real Maple Syrup. That is like corn syrup with molasses or sorghum.
They need to be sent some Authentic straight from Quebec Maple Syrup. Also need to sent them the Maple syrup flavored Coca-cola from Quebec
Walmart is not just a supermarket but they also sell clothes, car accessories, a pharmacy, pots and pans, etc.
Hey mert I’m not sure if you’ve been ask before but you should react to New Zealand family and the American dream mall. Great video
It made me laugh when they thought that bottle of syrup was massive 😂 It’s really just an average size bottle
Creamer is a flavored cream you put in your coffee. It can make your coffee any favor.
