Great video. Voice level & speed good. I’d add the recommended shopping list, types of paint to paint, sand paper, brush, etc. If I missed the list, please excuse my comments.
I have to agree w a couple of folks below who believe the rust should have been addressed differently. I have done auto body repairs in the past. The issue is , this is a hot, very steamy environment, rust requires moisture and this environment is tough on metal. I would have used a rust sealant. Rustoleum has a rust reformer spray or there is another product called Rust Encapsulator to be used as a base PRIOR to color spray . This seals the rust from oxygen and moisture. The poster indicates his fix has lasted 2 years....depends on how much the surface is exposed to adverse conditions. Also, after the paint is sprayed, you might wait a few weeks and then use car wax to protect the area . Overkill? You decide.
You showed how to clean it up but it's going to happen again you didn't show how to prevent it and that's the key I didn't take off my lid but I sanded and painted it then I took silicone and put it in that groove It will never rust again I don't know why washing machine companies don't close that section off so no water can get in, I used RTV clear silicone just to coat the surface It can't possibly rust unless the silicone decays and that will take a long time it actually should outlast the washer. Even better would be to use 5200 Marine white silicone that stuff is waterproof beyond waterproof and last forever
Hi i'm facing the same problem. With regarding your paint, do you have buy specific paint that bonds to metal over many years? Or rust proof and/or waterproof paint? Thanks
that halfass job won't last 3 months. you prepped it ok but wheres the rust stop ? at least out a metal primer on the bare areas and then sand lightly before using metal enamel top coat. Best way is removing all loose paint, sand the paint edges, spray on rust stop, wait 24 hours, spray on good etching primer, wait 24 hours, light sand and spray on rustoleum or good enamel paint for finish coat (I usually do 3 light coats within 3 minutes and the last coat heavier). When done you can't tell I painted it.
You do not need to remove the lid to clean the rust off with white vinegar, strong brush and water. Second, do not use regular spray paint! The paint particles will flake on your clothes and wnd up on your skin, even appliance rist resistant paint will. What awful advice

I saw someone use anti rust spray as a finishing touch
Thanks just what I've been looking for, now pray for me not to say with this type of work
You didn't even show yourself spray painting it. What a missed opportunity that was.
if you would have used some primer filler before you painted it would have blended out nicer, but good job.
THE LID :D
ive got the same issue
im going to hire someone to fix
im sure ill screw it up
You could also easily remove that orange sticker. Peels right off!
