    I thoroughly endorse your recommendation, Graham. I’ve been using one of these for quite some time on my car when we go off for long periods camping works a treat.👍

    That's fascinating - I'm learning all the time with this. We do have an alarm and tracker and it does take the battery down.
    Currently the solar is keeping the cab battery at a decent level, but in the Winter I had to connect to an Ecoflow power pack to keep the charge.
    So this is interesting for our Winter use I think Graham - thanks for sharing. Plus using for the car would be a good idea. 👍👍👍👍

    Good to hear the battery is going strong, I’m useless at remembering to do things (wish I was better as would save a few quid!) - I would be wondering why it was flat after fitting it on forgetting to charge it - very handy to be able to use with your other vehicles. Good price too. Nice video - all the very best, David 👍

    A handy devise that's easy to use and not expensive. We ended up changing the battery at about 2 yrs old with the bonus that the stop start now works with a stronger battery 😂😂. Thanks

      I wonder what the normal length of a battery service would be. I know it depends on how it’s been treated possibly even before we take delivery. Anyway pleased yours is ok now. Hope you are both well. 😎👍🙏🚐🧙‍♂️

    I do exactly what you do with cab battery. I thought about buying a 500w inverter to run off my 120ah lithium battery. Then plugging my 230v smart battery charger into that and leaving it on.

    • @Wizardinthewild
      @Wizardinthewild  2 месяца назад

      That would work running through the inverter. I have done that on mine once. Just bear in mind it’s not a very efficient way of doing it. It takes more amps than is needed due to the inverter needing to work its magic. But if you’re stuck it’s a good option. 👍🚐🧙‍♂️

    Hi there. Useful video Graham. I've wired from the solar charger which seems to work but I think the maintainers like you have are a bit more 'intelligent' in the way they work. I think I have an ALDI one in the garage somewhere...

    I also use a CTEK equivalent on our CV if we've not driven the van for 4 weeks or so, interesting and concerned that you should need to replace the engine battery at only 4 years, I would have thought that mordern batteries would last in excess of 10 years, our previous car/towing vehicle a KIA Sorento was a purchased new in 2007, this would stand on the drive for 5 to 6 weks and still start, I replaced the battery at 14 years, in Jan 2021 during lock down 2 as a precortion, as I was driving short journeys to an form hospital at obscure hours and days of week. I kept the old battery and it was still holding its charge a year later, our run around car a 2016 Fiesta is still on its original battery. Why is the Fiat battery so inferior?

    • @Wizardinthewild
      @Wizardinthewild  2 месяца назад

      Hi Philip. Well I have no real insight that 4 years is the length of time it would last only picking up on comments I’ve seen and folks I’ve spoken to. I’m rather tight fisted and can assure if it’s still fine I will be happy to take it to 10 years. I wasn’t very clear about that I must admit. Mind you your KIA seems a bit exceptional. Well done on keeping that going. As I said I have heard some horror stories about batteries but I think a lot of folks don’t take care of the battery. I will let you know when I do eventually replace it. Thanks for your comment 👍🚐🧙‍♂️

    Why not just hook up to your mains which gives a trickle to charge both your starter battery and your leisure battery at the same time?

    • @Wizardinthewild
      @Wizardinthewild  3 месяца назад +1

      Because most vans including mine don’t charge the cab battery as supplied from new. If it did charge the cab battery obviously I wouldn’t have wasted my time or money. Thanks very much for your comment. 🚐🧙‍♂️🙏👍
