    ❓Well? Did this resonate? Have you got any follow up questions on the themes raised? ❓

    “It isn’t health anxiety because it isn’t caused by health but by your thoughts” this statement is golden! Thank you for this beautiful video.

    Love this video! It explains it so well. My issue seems to be the physical symptoms though. Those are what trigger my thoughts. I guess I need to accept the fact that my body is gonna have random pains, aches and odd sensations and that doesn’t always mean something is wrong with me but it’s like the anxious thoughts are so deeply embedded with the physical symptoms it’s so difficult to shake

    • @anxietybeatinghacks

      Firstly thanks for tuning in, watching and sharing your thoughts. Hugely appreciated and pleased that you resonated with it. Yes you are right in terms of everyone is going to have odd aches and pains etc but the trick is not adding story to the sensation (or at least seeing that the thoughts are JUST a story). Keep in mind that if I work with someone with health anxiety we cover a lot of the themes outlined above but spend a lot longer really helping them internally shift their experience at a felt level. I will likely do more videos to add to these themes along with more practical steps to help you really disconnect sensations with story.

    Could you please make a video of fear of death ( grandmother/ father passed within the last few years) and domestic violence possible ptsd symptoms it causes me great anxiety and I’m in a spiral I have a 2 year old that I can barely keep up with because of constant fear of death and from past physical abuse now I’m constantly having like mini panic attacks always on edge like 24/7 along with insomnia

    Oh Yes, I can relate to this completely. A couple of years ago, I had chest pains and took myself off to A&E after being examined by the Dr I was told that my heart was perfectly healthy and the diagnosis was down to stress. This happened again a few months later and off to A&E I went. Same diagnosis. Last year, I experienced the same chest pains, my GP referred me to a cardiologist with whom I had a telephone consultation. After answering a series of important questions, the diagnosis was yet again. Nothing wrong with my heart. This week, I have experienced the same with my chest, so now I'm convinced there is something wrong. But having watched your video, I'm convincing myself by creating images of "A Bad Heart"

    This video is so well done and I am surprised it hasn't gained more traction because it is very well put together and produced. I really like the way you put it, the thoughts are separate from one's actual health. I can relate a lot to your story, and I feel like I'm going through my own journey with that right now. My throat has always been a massive trigger for me and lately I've felt a near constant tightness, at worst borderline choking. I've been struggling a lot with trying to overcome it and your videos have been really helpful with reflecting on how my thoughts are the real trigger here. I am very lucky to have a very supportive family so I've been steadily working on myself and rewiring my mind. I really appreciate your videos and I had to comment on this one specifically since it resonated so much with me.

    Thank you for another great video ! It is so hard to overcome Health Anxiety after actually having a health scare/issue. All these new symptoms/sensations are SO LOUD and so REAL - how do you suggest we deal with those? Chronic Pain, Numbness and tingling, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, etc?

    • @anxietybeatinghacks
      @anxietybeatinghacks  3 года назад +2

      Thank you for tuning in… I hugely appreciate all the likes and the comments. I think the crux of the issue lays in understanding that regardless of how loud and how “REAL” the sensations they DON’T tell you anything about your health. AND tell you everything about how absorbed you have got in the stories around what you think those sensations mean. I think it may be useful to do a video in the future helping you to explore the difference between ‘willingness to experience something’ and ‘wanting to experience something’. You might not WANT to have those LOUD and REAL sensations but when you see that the sensations themselves pose no threat, would you HAVE to get rid of them? These are interesting points to consider. As is really practicing the ability to experience sensations (both pleasant and unpleasant) without attaching meaning.

    I'm suffering from this now only I believe mine is a bit more severe. It all started with a breathing issue. Back in October I went to the ER for shortness of breath. I had a positive d dimer and they did a CT scan of my chest. Came back normal. So I left and went again in November because the same breathing issue occurred. Same thing. Elevated DDimer and clear ct of the chest. Then December rolls around and the breathing is getting worse. Cant take a deep breath. My family dr checks my d dimer , ESR, and CRP. All elevated. So he said I have inflammation. He just doesnt know where. So he put me on prednisone and it made me sick. Lowered my CRP but it elevated right back up. I've had ever test done from my head to see if it was my brain, had PFT test for lungs and it's clear, had an echo and it was clear, stress test and it was clear, carotid and it was clear. Had an ultrasound of my liver and it's clear. Had an endoscopy and I have some irritation ( GERD). Had a colonoscopy and I have a beautiful colon ( no issues at all). BUT I still have the breathing issue. I feel like I cant take a deep breath. Like something is stopping it. So the pulmonologist thinks I may have asthma so hes got me on inhalers and Singulair. The first day I took Singulair I thought it worked. Second day not so much. So it has to be anxiety. I started doing your technique for the breathing. Going to try that each day.

      Hi Danielle. Thanks for sharing your story. I'm sure many will feel reassured that they are not alone when they about these patterns that you have been caught in. I was going to suggest that you check out my video on "Air hunger" called, "HELP ME... I CAN'T BREATHE" ruclips.net/video/XliOGg8Tl98/видео.html but it sounds like you have come across that video already and seen the exercise outlined. Doing that can really help but you got to stick with it.

      This is good progress but one of the key things to get your head round is the idea that real sensations (and sometimes even unpleasant sensations) aren't a threat in and of themselves. And that real sensations of anxiety don't tell you that you are ill or anything about the state of your health... but simply how absorbed you are in the story of your health.

    Hi Howard and all. Thank you so much for making this video Howard, It certainly resonated with me, and I see with others here too. I am currently struggling with "health anxiety" so this has come at just the right time for me! I already "know" from ongoing contact with you (and previous contact with others) that what you're saying about health anxiety - and indeed anxiety in general - is true however its sometimes necessary to be reminded of what's true especially in those moments when we really need to know it! Look forward to seeing you and others soon, perhaps others posting here may be interested in our group?

    Well, my brush with indigestion turned out to be H Pylori infection and after endoscopy I ended up with a diagnosis of small Hiatus Hernia and Barrets Esophagus. I also later found out I had a small pulmonary embolism. Now, the strange thing is that I had zero symptoms of embolism and apart from a brief episode of gastritis I have never had indigestion. My consultant was adamant that my current symptoms are anxiety related because they are not congruent with expected symptoms of hernia (which I agree they are not).
    I have health anxiety and it's devastated most of my life because of physical symptoms all over the place. No amount of therapy (had so so much) has helped but I totally agree that it is a thought based issue.

    I'm not sure I follow why the label of anxiety is better than the label of health anxiety?
    Either way, my experience was that having the label helped manage the anxiety? "oh no I have this symptom and am clearly going to die! Yeah but also I have health anxiety, so it's actually probably that and I can ignore it"

    • @anxietybeatinghacks
      @anxietybeatinghacks  Год назад +1

      Well simply put... HEALTH ANXIETY... implies the anxiety is telling you something about your HEALTH... and it isn't. It's only telling you what story or thoughts you have become absorbed into. Realising it's just anxiety... is about helping to remind you there is NO connection to the feeling of anxiety and your health. I'm not a big fan of labels at all in all honesty and certainly rail against people describing themselves as "an anxious person". Why couldn't you be a confident person who just feels anxious sometimes...etc.
