I found out about the announcement through the voice actors doing a segment on youtube. Ever since the show aired, they'd been doing weekly shows together for this anime.
if it was production issues and it was planned for 2 cour its better to wait and get better product then have it back to back and then end up. WIth production issues and indefinite hiatus or episodes with half assed animation.
